I'm an apprentice instructor for the Carpenters Union in northern Ca. I love your videos and I like to share them with my classes. I have been in the Trades for 42 years, 36 in the Carpenters Union. Everything you say is 100% true. That's why I share them with my students. Sounds better when they hear it from another Apprentice. Keep up the good work and good luck on the jobsite.

Woman in the trade 3rd year apprentice thank you for your talks!! You’re so grounded and I resonate with you a LOT. Thing I love about men is they get mad in a moment and then carry on and we go right back to being on good terms. No passive aggressive bullshit, for the most part. If there is I am the first to strike up a conversation

So I was a union carpenter apprentice for about a year and a half at 22-23 years old. Loved it. Life happened and I had to get out. Im 25 now is it too late to get back in and would it be hard for me to get back in and succeed? I was very good at my job and really enjoyed it and have great references and job history to back me up. Any information would be really helpful and appreciated. Thanks buddy

I was injured on a job that my Local 587 in Sioux Falls, SD found me, and they have been counterproductive in helping me in every aspect. The Union Education President, Anthony, said that since I was on medical restrictions I shouldn't be in class; but he knew of three other classes (and even saw me at the first class I had my brace on and did nothing) and it has affected my grade scoring for different classes. The job I was working the main foreman (of which I don't know whom wears tie-dye shirt, wrist watch, hard hat, and mainly tie-dye crocs to a job site but this guy was highly unethical and unprofessional in many ways even before I was hurt and how he haphazardly tried to deal with the accident and aftermath like he was shooting from the hip with everything. Again my union hasn't done anything and the company I was working for has been and still is trying to throw me under the bus so they don't have to pay out for insurance on their other jobs; which they have exclusive contracts for Amazon buildings all over the USA, including Hawaii.

My Union wasn’t backing me up with the way I was done on the job site. There was no conflict just people talking behind my back and filing false complaints. Honestly it was racist as a MF. @KidBrown-j7r2 ай бұрын
@BENNIJERROD There will be ups and downs on anything positive you attempt to do...especially if you don't fit certain people's criteria. One thing you will deal with in all construction trades is racism. It's unfortunate that racism exist everywhere, (worldwide) but we must continue to work hard/take no short cuts, make good choices, have a positive attitude, view situations from a mature point of view, view ALL situations realistically, and ALWAYS take the time to self-reflect. Since you can't change the negative people from being who they are, use these negative experiences to help improve you for in the long run. I don't know your situation in life, but maybe you experienced the funny looks, gossip, lies, ect. to build your character (i.e. patience, being more humble, more responsible, ect.) Sometimes you just have to move to another area with better employment opportunities and with a wider range of people. Stay focused bro.
