I've been pretty consistent with my cycle prior to the last four months. As I look over my calendar now, since October of 2021, my cycle has been all over the place: 23 days, 31 days, 28 days, 18 days, and now it'll be 38 days tomorrow since I've had my last period. I don't mind missing the period for that long, though I don't like how it now just comes at all different times,...have to always be prepared. I'm 46 years old. I'm kind of happy on one hand,...just don't want to experience these mood swings and weird sleep patterns on and off. I can even deal with THAT, but the way I hear people talk about those sweats,...I hope I NEVER experience THAT (I hear some people don't,...I hope I'm one of them).

Hey Charlene! A popular IUD nearly "got me". Thankfully my doctor understood it was an emergency-she insisted it was a battle of hours. She did admit docs were and had been discouraged to believe the iud could cross the brain barrier. 🧠 Bless the women who have a great time with it, and bless the docs willing to listen to their patients despite being told "it can't happen." Of course anything could do this to a certain person, but I encourage medical peeps to listen to patients stories. They get buried on the search engines but many "groups" on fb. Totally not against successful meds, I'm pro open minded docs.:)

What I notice also is that the pms symptoms are lasting longer before the mense flow. The majority of the month is spent in emotions, agony, cramps, and headaches.

I have experienced missed periods twice and i was in my early forties. i went to my doctor and she said i am too young for perimenopause and it could be stress. i definitely knew that i was not pregnant. i probably just didn't ovulate for some reason and didn't get my periods. sometimes it just happens like especially for women who are in their 40s. your body has other plans for you. after those two incidents, i have been pretty regular with my periods. sometimes, doctors don't know what they are talking about. eat healthy at home, plenty of fruits and vegetables, herbs like oregano, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, turmeric, garlic, ginger, honey, tofu, soy products, plain yogurt, saurcraut, kefir etc

Perimenopause started in my late 30’s and it was H$&@. I had all the symptoms to the 10th power. I had to change my diet, stop drinking alcohol, take daily walks, lift weights, and drink herbal tea to manage the pain and flooding of my cycle. I am now 49 and have not had a cycle since 10/21 and no more pain, but I still have night sweats, hot flashes, and crying spells. I am heading towards Menopause (or my fibroids shrunk) which I don’t mind because the pain and the heavy bleeding and clots are gone.

I just turned 49 in March and can’t grasp why I’m still getting a period or why I haven’t even skipped a month yet. It just has me miserable. My mom and 2 older sisters stopped at 48 and research showed mine would too but it’s still coming. Can you give me a few of your symptoms you were having before it stopped? I'm on the birth control patch but I hope to get on a low dose combo pill soon. My estrogen/progesterone ratio showed me estrogen dominant. Maybe I'd be OK off the bc and just doing some progesterone cream. I have no idea. I'm going to see an endocrinologist soon. My womens health clinic doc won't even tell me I'm in peri. She just says my levels look fine and takes my early periods as nothing. There is definitely something going on. Intense anxiety, depression making me want to off myself, night sweats, severe tension during ovulation and swelling in my neck and bone pain. My mother was in menopause by 45.

With issues of dismissive diagnosis (for CFS/ME) and the pending peri/menopause it looks like I’m stuck with this bum note, I don’t know how I will support my self in my later years. I just turned 51 years old and I think I am experiencing perimenopause symptoms. My gynae found fibroids since five years ago in my uterus. Last year, these fibroids grew significantly, the largest one is 9 cm in diameter, coupled with a few around 6 to 4 cm. My gynae was of the view of removing them as they may have the possiblity to developing to cancer. However, I have read that with menopause, fibroids will strink and if they do not bother me, I can leave them alone. Do you have any advise on this issue?
@kellykellssz2 жыл бұрын
I have fibroids too and my Dr said once you go through menopause (meaning no more periods) then they will shrink but while you’re transitioning your estrogen levels RISE (which help them grow) and decrease. So as long as you’re transitioning they could be growing when your estrogen is up. I’m 49 and know I’m transitioning but don’t know when this crap will stop so every 6 months I see my GYN to check the growth of my fibroids.

but... why do we do hormone replacement therapy? Once we hit menopause, its the natural cycle, why do we prolong it? Yeah, the symptoms suck, while they last? (i say this as a 45 yr old just starting to see perimenopause)
@sexygabby302 жыл бұрын
Lots of women are suffering thus the reason why the uterus has to be taken. Hormone replacement is the better road. It may even stave off having that procedure. It’s not just as easy as stating “ OH YOUR HAVING SYMPTOMS AND YOU DEAL WITH IT “ type of thing nowadays or over the last 60 yrs when you are affected to the point you can’t even be productive that is never a normal transition. So that’s why unfortunately.

Thank you for the details. This kind of helped. What about spotting? I’m 44 and started spotting 6 months ago, it started as 1-2 days around ovulation, now it starts 2 days after my period ends and now lasts up to 9 days. All of my tests came back negative, and we are going to try 3 month progesterone treatment. My moods are off the charts. Unfortunately I cannot take the pill bc I had DCIS. I hope something works and that I’m ok. 😢

What is DCIS? Did you ask about the mini (progestin only) "pop pill"?
@surfnyolly2 жыл бұрын
I went for a second opinion, It turn out to be uterine polyps, we removed those and I haven’t spotted since. And the new Gyn couldn’t understand why they put me in progesterone, she said that was a very antiquated process. I haven’t spotted since and my anxiety has gone down tremendously. Always get that second opinion ladies!
