girl, this was so relatable for me who went through bmt this past august! My favorite line was when you said “wait this was only zero week.” Everyone in my flight felt the same way. We did our countdowns based on Sundays since that was our “relaxed” day... it wasn’t really relaxing but there was less pressure since the MTI was not there. But wow I forgot all about saying this was only zero week until you said it!

Great video! I came through BMT in 1980--can you imagine that??--and then retired as a SMSgt in 2005, but I distinctly remember that bus driver getting us to the base. He said, "Look, this is going to be hard. How hard depends on you. You want to make it easier? I got seven magic words for you. Do. What. They. Tell. You. To. Do. Don't try to be smarter than you are, don't try to reinvent the wheel, don't try to get away with stuff. Do what they tell you to do." You know what?? He was right! Heh! I love the Air Force, but I am very emotional and its hard for me to keep my emotions together especially when I am being yelled at a lot. Personally, it’s very helpful to watch this right now, I’ve been going back and forth with the MEPS doctors over stupid paperwork because they found out I was in a car accident, went on for three months... finally just got word that I can go to MEPS and finally do my physical. I’ve been freaking out thinking what if something happens in between that time... also having to wait SO long without any communication on what’s going on is very hard, I would keep thinking, maybe I shouldn’t go. Maybe it’s not meant to be. But watching videos like this gives me the hope and excitement and reminds me why I went 4 years trying to get in... I went through 6.5 years ago. Minus the Covid stuff not much has changed. I was one of the first to go through Disneyland. You forgot to mention that they rush you to eat and the desserts table is by the MTI table. Also at Alcatraz they take it a bit easier on them because that’s where they put the (seniors) aka the older folks, plus the beds are easier to make.

Don't take it personally. Don't zone out either. BMT is designed for trainees to pay attention to detail. So think of them being nitpicky parents. Honestly you'll notice the difference when you leave tech school how relaxed things are in comparison. But BMT really does ingrain you to learn your military bearings. It can just seem a bit extra. Just bear with it. After the first 2-3 weeks, MTI's become more open & you get to know them as you would your parents. It sounds odd to say, but just focus on what you're told & do well.
