I have a very small plot , about 25x25 ft, but I have a nice crop of spring onions, onions,lettuce, carrots, and potatoes coming on very nicely, after only 6 weeks. I have just planted out 14 spinach shoots , and they are really thriving. enjoy your show.

Even though we are 2 years to move to the new house arround Barcelona area I started tomatoes and red peppers on my small terrace. They will need to grow in the garden of my mother in law though as there's no space here in the city for that. But wanted to try and practice ;)

Hey Niall thank you for you knowledgeable videos, as a new gardener I realised I have a lot to learn and first is not to be to eager to plant. Being in Cornwall we do find our growing season has changed and it's been a warm January which can lead us in to a false sense of hope. Look forward to seeing more of your videos 😁 cheers

Hi Niall, my place is in Greencastle, Donegal. The large si,the that came with property is one reason I bought here. Really in to planting the place up with trees (600 bare root so far) and just trying to get that dream of developing the veg garden, fruit trees and just general planting up for nature!

Niall great video as always, Liz is a gem,she is where i heard of you from, i thank her for that.Brussels sprouts we loveeeeee 💚. I had success with cauli's this year, just two and i was happy to get two. Have saved this video so can refer to for the tomatoes varieties, i freeze my tomatoes for Winter. Lettuce pull and grow varieties i love. I never have luck with peppers,beetroot and radish 🙈. Peas are the best to grow i love growing them, and def love herbs. Money maker tomatoes one of my favourites. Will drop some names later when i have my seed collections nearby. We are like kids in a sweet shop with the choices.

@@niallgardens i actually hide new purchases of my seeds ha ha, i must get a move on,had busy few weeks. I can't wait to see your polly tunnel in full seasons growth,you are so lucky. I did get some onion sets today and some main crop potatoes, shhhh hidden under my bed ha ha. Didn't get to my seed tins today, but promise i will. I bought Adelvise seeds when i was in Austria, didnt work last year, going to try again, got tomato seeds there too, they were brilliant. Freezing tomatoes is great when you have a glut, i pop them in my lasagne, or bolognese. Will promise to pop some names on here, was doing outdoor work today so i forgot. Have a good week Niall.

Aha! Good Lance at Tomato Revolution 😁👌🏼 some nice choices Niall! Surprised you weren’t tempted by some of the dwarf varieties! 🙈 admittedly I have far too many tomato varieties on the go 🤣 so much so that I’m going to be really disappointed if I haven’t turned into a tomato myself come the end of the year! 🥴🍅 am also trialling some new F1 crosses that were sent to me from the USA - will then be growing on the f2’s next year and seeing what I get from them and reporting back to the breeder! Super exciting! 😁 as always fab video!

Hi! Yeah I'd be quite interested to try a dwarf variety or two (or six!) but I was actually given the seeds rather than buying them myself. Can't wait to see how they turn out! My last frost is March 1, I've sown everything you have except for cauliflower, because I find it a little hard to grow, but I might try again. Thank you for the video :) I don't start my tomatoes yet since my greenhouse is too small to plant them inside. We very, very rarely have a frost in May, which is when I can plant them outside, so I start them 6-8 weeks earlier, in March. (...also because I don't have space on the windowsill until I've planted the brassicas out LOL) And yes to successional sowing, I will definitely be doing that with all our brassicas. Our weather can be all over the place so I like to spread the risk of them going to seed a bit by sowing at different times.
@niallgardens
@niallgardens 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you've got your tomato sowing / growing plan absolutely nailed down which is brilliant! I know what you mean about space - it can be so tricky if you end up with too many seedlings at one time, all needing TLC! We're the same in terms of our weather being changeable so I like spreading the risk also!

Great video Niall - managed to get through all that very swiftly! Really nice that you've got everything in the description as well. Where are you raising most of these at the moment? Polytunnel or the conservatory?
@niallgardens
@niallgardens 3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! At the minute, anything that needs some extra TLC is under a grow light. Everything else is simply either in my unheated polytunnel or in my unheated conservatory, so both are exposed to cooler temperatures. I'm trying to grow the seedlings hard so that they strong plants - or at least that's the plan!

Going to give some chillies a go ? super ! The spangled twilight are not different coloured chillies they are just the ripening colours. The way a bell pepper starts off green, turns yellow, orange and finely red. The twilight starts green then light purple and finely red. So if you are pulling off ripe peppers they will all be deep red. Hope you have a plentiful harvest.

Hello Niall, are you sowing these under growlights indoors, outside in a greenhouse, or cold frame? I’m not sure from your video?
@niallgardens
@niallgardens 3 жыл бұрын
I'm sowing the tomatoes, chillies, and sweet peppers in my heated propagator, then I'll keep them under a grow light until they're strong enough (and the weather's good enough) for them to go into the polytunnel. Then for everything else, I'll either bring them on in my polytunnel which isn't heated, or my conservatory which isn't heated either (and very draughty!)
