luckily I had a really cool English teacher who did a whole unit on college essays 1st semester of senior year. wish more schools did that..reading sample essays really helped. Another good tip is to just have nothing hold u back on ur first draft. Then you can revise it/take bits and pieces of it, until it becomes masterpiece! Good luck to all rising seniors! 😘 you got this.

I’ve been so anxious about it and that eased me ❤️❤️❤️

I'd really like you to read my three ideas and give me your opinion... 1. How moving to a country on the other side of the ocean changed my way of seeing the Otherness (and basically how it changed, I wouldn't be the person I am now if I was still living in Spain) (I moved from Spain (Europe) to Panama (Central America) when I was 13) 2. What I learned from my mother's attitude towards people who have a different culture from us. (meaning: how it teached me to be open with people and accepting cultural differences) 3. I don't really have a third topic but I'd like to show that I'm a determined person who is curious, takes profit of every situation, is always interested in everything new that can bring her experience and skills, and a person who is always requestioning everything (I mean it in a good way, like I'm interested by a lot of things and I always have debates with my friends about everything). I'm doing everything I can to get some help and advice, I've never lived in America and I've never been in contact with the american system before moving to Panama. Plus, I'm in a french school and I don't even have a counselor, I'm doing the SAT on my own and my english teacher is the only one who can help me with my college essay, and that's only because he's the only teacher in my school that speaks english. I'm sorry if this bothers you in any way. I've send many mails to people who could helped me and I've contacted student organizations at Harvard who helped me understand how the american college system works. I'm really trying to get as many help and advice as I can.

Help! What if you honestly haven't done anything that interesting in life? How do you show yourself in such a way they would be impressed? Say, you love writing, have written stories but never actually published them, not even a school newspaper? Bc, of course, they won't be interested in someone who didn't even have their work anywhere to be seen; since of course they wouldn't care that you maybe didn't have a chance to publish it anywhere.

The whole reason people go to college is to make opportunities available for themselves. Perhaps tie that idea in. You might not have been afforded certain opportunities in your school/community/upbringing, but you are working toward opening doors for yourself, and college is a big step toward those possibilities.

I mean people don't look at your degree when dating someone. But she is more likely to meet someone her level because of the environment she will be in they will most likely relate with her over the values she holds, the interests the friend groups, the ethic. PS not intentionally seeking because that's nuts but indirectly, unintentionally it will happen.

This is what I was thinking of writing about how does it sound? During the course of high school, my house was robbed twice. The robbers were part of a Chilean gang and both times broke in through ripping off and climbing through my bedroom window. My family lost a lot during the robbery however the thing we really cared about losing was our feeling of safety. Before the robbery I was greedy I wanted everything; I wanted the newest; I wanted the best. However, because of the robbery I learned how little material items mattered and focused on the people in my life, my relationships, and valuing the things I do have and starting a journey towards minimalism. I went on to interview members of the gang who robbed me and hear their stories and what had led them to a life of crime. This further made me focus on how grateful I was for what I had rather than to care about what I did not have.

Consider going to community college if you don't get in (assuming you're in high school), you'll have a much better chance of getting in by transferring after getting your AA.
