As a wife, mother of 20 and 18 year old boys and a elementary teacher I want to tell you a couple of things. Firstly, your family bonding and communication is amazing, though I'm sure there's a few cuts that have to be made quite often. Secondly, the education content is outstanding for people of any age and any experience. Thank you so much for recording all your family's daily diaries. I love learning about the farm and the workings of a family. Please keep up the amazing work. Love and good luck from Glasgow, Scotland 🌾

Starting the garden here is Eastern Oregon, Tomatoes: Roma, Amish paste; Cabbage:Late flat Dutch; Broccoli: Calabrese; Celery: Utah; Brussel Sprouts: Long Island Improved, Onion:Spanish yellow/white; carrots, beets, turnips, bok choi. It gets busy with greenhouse and livestock, as you are very aware. We plant heirloom varieties and save seed for our use, not commercial.

Good selection, and like your idea of standardizing on heirlooms. Trying to do that here too. Southeast Zone 8A. We have long growing season, but it seems we skip spring most every year and go straight from winter to extreme heat. Result? No brassicas, lettuce, etc. Tried overwintering this year and all the brassicas and bok choy survived very well, but are ALL going to seed before cold nights even end, because days are already in 70s and 80s. So I guess it'll be another year of nothing until heat-loving tomatoes, squashes, okra and beans produce.

I am guessing you only have one holes size plate for your seeder. A larger hole for the 512 flat would let the seeder work with the pelleted lettuce seed. Also pelleted seed loses germination viability faster. Some companies, such as Osborne, sell mostly pelleted lettuce seed. Also I have one question; what is your success with spinach seeded in as you do and could you share any tips?
