Honestly I think I'd rather just walk in place with sensors that pick up my steps than use these. I've done it like that before and it's pretty immersive to walk that way and more natural feeling than using a treadmill that makes you feel like you're pulling something.

I have the C2+... can't say it makes me feel like I'm pulling something. Nothing actually moves.. it's not a treadmill. You just slide on plastic.

Pulling feeling is a sign you are doing it wrong. The waist harness is to keep you from falling. But users lean into it for some bizarre reason. Stand straight and take a step forward. That's it. Your foot will return to center. Walk in place like VR rocker is t bad either for $10

I got the Kat Walk C2. Honestly, it’s a waste of money. I prefer fake walking on the platform instead of using the software. It doesn’t simulate real walking at all. It’s better to use the joystick controller to move around while moving your feet on the platform. The software is horrendous.

That's either sad or funny, so I chose to laugh, sorry. I always wondered if a VR "slidemill" would be something I'd want to use all the time, or if it's something I would put in the basement and forget about after a few times... Sounds like the latter, unfortunately.

Well, I have the C2+ and I've really enjoyed it in the few games I've tried. What really gets me is the LOUD clunking sound of me actually using it. Takes time to get used to that. Now if I'm in an environment in VR where I'm walking on wooden planks that sound would fit nicely. LOL.

It's so tempting, but I have the same problem as with the Bigscreen Beyond. I'd have to get a collection of shoes in all sizes to fit any of my friends and family, when they come to play.

Ah yes, because just under $1K is "affordable" when the new Meta Quest 3 isn't even $700 at it's largest storage iteration or starter bundle.

transportation in VR will never be right until we get some kind of suspended exoskeleton device that lets you actually run, jump, fly... and **** just like int he lawnmower man but with actual haptics. With servos on the leg harnesses you could simulate any kind of gradient or surface and create blockages, but you will move exactly like you would running in real life (rather than having to be deliberate and overly-careful). It would be hella expensive (10k or more I'm guessing) but would be awesome. No special shoes needed either and can go upside down (on your back), imagine leaping off a cliff into the ocean, then turning on your back to look up at the sky... while feeling the waves moving your body up and down from head to toe (haptics along the length of the skeleton) that could be done if someone would just build the fkin thing! ;)

Still dream of the day of actual vr treadmills, not 'slip and slide'. There has to be a way to have treads wrapped around a layer of balls as the underlay, it can be tracked and moved a by a motor to give gyroscope stability and forcefeeback.

It feels like walking when done right. It's as tiring as walking if you live a seditary lifestyle. Big advice. Don't lean into the harness. Just stand upright and take a step and then another. Watch how it looks on their official demos. That's what it should look like. No learning curve either... just walk like you do in real life. You don't lean into it when walking.

Hi there Wooskii! Shoes are designed to work with the treadmill and it is not technically possible to use them without the device considering the inner sensor system of the treadmill, ergonomic design of the device and the software functions.

Not until someone comes up with a way of walking on a flat surface, will these treadmills gain wide acceptance. Two minutes of squat-walking with a bobbing brick on your face and you're out of breath: HOW IMMERSIVE! JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE! Edit: Also check out the tangled cord!

Not really.. I can use my C2+ for a long period of time. If there is a lot of sprinting involved I can fold out the seat and use the analog sticks to play until I'm ready to go for more. I don't have cord issues anymore after enhancing my cable management setup.
