(true not the freely placeable icons are the innovation, but there was a few other announcement, what is really a big innovation.. because you don't understand the difference between refular 120Hz and LTPO 120Hz, than you can laugh, but all Android was able to also gain about 2hours extra battery time because Apple showed how you should use the 120Hz.. same with text recognization, it's way less limited like Google lens, you can use it now anywhere on any pictures, instead of just inside Google lens app and only on things what your camera currently see.. it's the same thing, but used on a more different way, and that different way made it better, because easier to use..)

(It's an AI feature, and also the independent AI features are also usable on A17 iPhone chip and on M1 or any later M series chip..)

I was disappointed in what they demoed for the new version of Siri. Everything they showed with Siri basically forcing you to read the answer on the screen rather than verbally answering your question. I was hoping for a conversational style function and sending the written transcription to a note for history and reference. Maybe that is coming later on.

I just picked up my first Mac, the 16 m3 max 16 cpu, 40 GPU, with 64gb memory and 2tb of storage. This is the most powerful (and expensive) piece of tech I ever owned but so far this computer is an absolute beast. I'm enjoying macOS more than I thought I would.

@@marcust123 I have a 16inch M2 Pro, so I do have a regular Mac, but I actually love using the iPad. I do most of my watching of shows and stuff on that. The only thing that really has bothered me is if I want to search orders that I make at work and I have them in folders, they can’t deep dive search and look for folder names or a part number in a document. There’s a word for that kind of searching and I’m not sure what it’s called. I guess this iPad will be just another expensive little television screen lol.

I mean, Apple reps stated a few weeks ago that macOS is not coming to iPads and that macOS apps will not be ported to iPads! So, I am surprised you are surprised. In the Apple interviews, they advised that the iPad is 90% a tablet and that is how they see it forever. They reiterated that it is a complementary device to the Apple ecosystem, not a replacement for a Mac!

My Macbook 16 M1 pro had problems within one year after I purchased it. It was repaired free of charge under Costco 2 years warranty program. They replaced the screen and another part. Apple computers have quality control problems.

There is always the chance of some of a production run having an issue or one production run having a mechanical problem, which is why warranties exist. the imac is such an underrated computer.... In terms of value for money, and design, it's just insane. It has a really good LCD screen, it comes with apple silicon, included peripherals, and it is under 2000 dollars. The problem with desktops is that they are the lease bought, because they cannot be used on the go, like a macbook or ipad.

i´m not on your side of point that the M2 Ultra is already "outdated" cause I´m think to myself that its more a question of "what are you doing? for which kind of use do you ned this machines?" ... I´m a music producer with only a really small potion of doing something with graphics or video --> most of all music software in my use case scenarios are really not very good in using all cpu cores ... none of that music softwares are able to use the gpu cores (thats not really a problem with the mac stuff - its the same problem with windows based music software too - they aren´t able to use gpu´s 😞) ... so actually a M2 pro is really a lot of times much better than an M2 max or ultra --> and there isn´t really any scenario to max out one of these machines with software for music creators or mixing engineers --> and for all guys, which are really work on music in studios these Apple M2 machines are really way too much as you can or would be able to go for reaching a "borderline" with music / mixing software ...

The 3nm capacity still extremly limited at TSMC, so they just picked a device with smaller sales, put the about 5million manufactured M4 inside (iPad sales are just a few 10million, and that is for the whole 12months long period, also not all sold with M4, they just wanted to show the M4 before Snapdragon X Elite release..), and already switched to manufacture the about 250million A18 for the iPhone. So there is about no capacity to manufacture more M4 until the iPhone release, since the newer technology still limited (TSMC need to upgrade their work stations to the new proccess, like they about able to double the capacity in each year, and this is just the 2nd year for 3nm, so it's still very limited in capacity)

TSMC is maxed out right now and dozens of companies are competing and paying big bucks for slots on their 3nm process node. Apple could certainly pay to be the top dog, but they’re not going to piss away tens of billions of dollars if they don’t have to. Yeah, they have some M4 chips, but not nearly enough to meet the needs across all product lines.

So, my Intel iMac just bit the dust. I can’t wait until next year to replace it with the Mac Studio M4. Maybe I should buy the M4 MacBook Pro instead and dock that with the Apple Studio Display? I haven’t had a laptop in 15 years and I only used that for travel. I still have the mentality that laptops aren’t for serious studio work, but I see a lot of pros using laptops docked with a monitor. So maybe that’s a better path for me given the current availability? I think I can hold out a few months for an M4 laptop.

Respect for being willing to say, "I was wrong." Anyone who expects predictions to be 100% right has set up an unrealistic standard. That said, you were more impressed by WWDC 2024 than me. I'm looking forward to the Passwords app, and Siri being able to finally answer questions about Apple hardware, but I found myself wondering why a company as big and rich as Apple couldn't do more when it comes to software advancements. Like is that the best they can do with iPadOS? It's not that I don't like the improvements, but a calculator app and a pop out menu don't scream "iPadOS is a priority" to me.

Your theory on the M4 Macs made a lot of sense. There has to be a good reason why it's been delayed. My own guess is if they release them next summer it woulf be an M5 instead of the M4 per your current theory of having the premier chips on the pro devices first. They will be reformulating the Ultra chips to work as server chips and perhaps that is the reason for the delay. The high end chips will most like;y have a hell of a lot more Neural Engine cores to run as capable AI server chips.

If you look at the history of Apple Mac computers, MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, iMac were released more often than the Mac Pro. For example: Mac Pro ‘trash can’ released in 2013. The successor of this Mac Pro released 6 years later in 2019. I won’t be surprised if the Mac Pro doesn’t get an M4 Ultra/Extreme but a high end variant M5 chip by the end of next year. Maybe even in 2026 (highly unlikely imho). Nevertheless, great video.

Pushing the Mac studio M4 back I think is a mistake. I've been holding out for a Mac Studio for video/music editing. If I want a studio now, I have to buy the older M2. No, I'll pass. This is a bummer really.

M1 macs use a 5 nm process, M2s use a 5 nm process, M3s use a low yield 3 nm process and M4s use a high yield 3 nm process. I believe that the low yield 3 nm process will be abandoned. This means that Apple will be forced to stop selling M3 Macs as soon as their current large stocks of M3 chips are all used up. I believe that this will lead to all Macs in a year's time being built around the M4 chip. I suspect that for low end Mac M4 chips the number of CPUs and GPUs will be reduced to create a cheaper lower performance option. This is what Apple did in their last generation of iPod Touch devices. I have a very different point of view about yesterday's WWDC 2024. Lots of nifty trinkets but nothing of any significance. There was one app. that looked great. That is the Math Calculator. I could get a lot of use out of that. Otherwise, not much happening. Right now the only reason I am still with Apple is the iPhone and the Apple Watch. Otherwise, looks like Intel, Qualcomm, Samsung and Microsoft have the future rapped up.

Any insight into whether exporting hevc and h.264 will be any faster on the M4Max vs M1 Max. I know the editing experience should be much better with the faster graphics and cores, especially with the running timeline, that definitely is not smooth when playing back faster than realtime on the m1max. But since the chips were dependent on hardware encoders, does the M4 have more of them or faster encoders? Or does it actually use gpu cores to speed up video rendering? Thank you!

I am really disappointed that there was no new Mac Studio and Mac Pro hardware with M4 presented. Currently I use the latest Intel MacMini and wanted to invest into a new Mac Studio. But if Apple was releasing the MacMini earlier with M4 I would really think to stay with MacMini instead of upgrading to Mac Studio

I don’t think they will ever start with the Ultra because of how they are made and chip binning is how they get lower model chips. it is hard to get perfect chips( ultras) so they disable bad sections and end up with lower end chips in masses first and fewer perfect chips.

Apple pushing the M4....If you have the M1-M2-M3, you're still very good. With these chips, you don't have to keep buying the latest unless your life/work depends on it.

M2 Studio delay totally sucks! I have a 27" intel iMac that needs upgraded at work, after upgrading to Sonoma it's soooooo slow. I don't want to upgrade now to the M2 Studio.. but damn, I don't want to wait a year either. I have no idea what to do. I use it only for creative suite. Tempted to just get a PC at this point.

There are a number of features for Pro users which I would love to see, including Apple's old Server functionality. I would much prefer having a supported Apple Server to running Windows Server or running Linux to supplement my environment. I feel like the Mac Studio and Mac Pro are getting the same low priority that Apple Server received before it was discontinued. These are all niche products which do not have a broad consumer base.

I was hoping that iPad OS would be enhanced to address shortcomings, so the iPad Pro is more functional. Hell, I would even have been happy if I could Mirror my MacBook on my iPad like the iPhone. The iOS 18 changes were a determining factor in my getting an iPad Air or an iPad Pro. I just ordered the Air.

I think Apple underestimated how well the Mac Studio was going to sell.... Now they have to re-think their strategy with it and the Mac Pro. I've said it plenty of times, give creatives the power of a Mac Pro without all the expansion and it will sell like hotcakes. And for a starting price of $2k? Fantastic deal. I was just going to buy one but now..... It's fine. I could use a new laptop until the new Studio shows up. And I can probably get one for a fantastic bargain now....

I think the plans for the new Mac Pro will go farther than just putting an M4 Ultra or potentially an M4 Extreme... I get the feeling that Apple will be re-entering a 'niche' Mac Pro rack mounted server market. They are building their own datacenter services on their own chips for Apple Intelligence, I could see them building addon expansion to AI related processing cards to boost AI related server tasks and if they are getting into making special chips for their own servers, they could make the same technology available within the Mac Pro for enterprise on-premises AI/ML servers. (spread the cost around a bit). I think that is where the thought of pushing Swift more widely as a server language outside the small audience it currently has.

I wish I convince Apple that, as an actual graphics professional, I’m not replacing my Mac with an iPad Pro. I use them both. I need both at this point. If iPadOS had a more MacOS-like experience, that would be so useful, but it’s not taking the place of my MBP.

Having iPhones 15 and plus without "Apple intelligence" is, at the very least, not having respect for the people who buy them. Having third-party AI support, Apple has definitely fallen behind. Missed the target again with the IPad Pro. I still have the Bionic Z version. I have had 3 IPad Pros two 10.5" and 1 "11" inch. They have totally missed many opportunities that once my current IPad Pro is obsolete or breaks, I will not be purchasing another one. Also I would love to know if the Background replacement option can be used in other software like OBS? They said Zoom or Face time, but that feature to me sure beats using a green screen. One of the most interesting feature to me.

Don’t hype so much, we don’t know how good Apple Intelligence works. Also AI is only release 2024 in English, in German we have to wait until 2025!! That’s crazy !! For me it’s like I say before, apple needs about 1-2 years for ai and that’s the case. Apple AI still needs ChatGPT so it’s not 100% working like we want.
