Summarize and crystallize the Shurangama Sutra ( ie the King of Sutras), to paraphrase, "Every sentient living being has buddha-nature, is capable of attaining Buddhahood, and each travels a different Path of Enlightenment"!

There's a reason the Buddha remained quiet when he first became enlightened. It happened again and it was the birth of Zen Buddhsim. That was his ultimate teaching. I miss my old stomping grounds on san pablo and university ave:) If theres something to attain, people want it.

I get the “don’t know” explanation but run into the eightfold path. One says go with anything the other has a way to apply and master. There needs to be a balance there.

It's a nice thing to think we are more.We are here to deal with limitations that's why we have a body and fear death we set our own limits and stick to them religiously. Try to be better every day simple life is a journey the beginning is very close to the end....no one has the answer it is a fun little idea releases and orphans do un others and you know the rest

I stopped at RT-12:13 OK several problems here before my stopping point, lets get into it. I will blame most of the confusion on ZEN which seems to think the only thing Buddha taught was emptiness. Upon seeing the morning star the experience is called "the three watches of the night" which led to enlightenment. He saw the coming and going of beings and how their karma determined their destination. Reincarnation was proven REAL and Buddha saw all his past lives(zen basically ignores karma because it is a truncated flawed version of Buddhism). But it was the understanding of KARMA which led to Buddha's enlightenment, he already had the emptiness understanding. The first step of the 8 fold path is "right view" such that includes karma, rein carnation and realms being understood to be the true nature of reality. The 8 fold path is sequential, without right view there is no right meditation, right livelihood, etc. Now the guy in the video says enlightenment is ONENESS with everything, this is called a false view by the Buddha because it denies the separateness of beings. If this oneness existed when the Buddha got enlightened all beings and the universe would have been enlightened and that is not the case is it. This is the truth what this guy says is ignorance mixed with wisdom.

Brilliant explanation. Buddha could understand and see karma -- in a sense, he made the first truly free act of will. All prior acts were compromised by determinism. By being able to see the whole picture, he could avoid the next movement in the sequence. I could easily be wrong here, I have no ego behind any of my thoughts. What is karma to you? I feel most western definition are a deep misunderstanding.

@@OompaLoompaFu Karma creates beings and worlds, just like in dreams . in reality these are caused by group karma so it is not wholly personal karma like in a dream

Enlightenment like the one Buddha experienced is something know one would want but the stage before was great and can be achieved by anyone. It happens when you refuse to suffer anymore accept everything completely good or bad and stop trying and let everything go and accept your life is fate.
