Very nicely done. I remember the first GP I attended was the Canadian GP in 1991 and I got to see Pre-Qualifying first hand. It was cool to have been able to see that little piece of F1 history.

Great video. I was at the 1989 Canadian GP and witnessed the pre-qualifying session. There were 39 cars entered thats nearly double of today. It was Friday at 7 AM I believe. So early but very enjoyable. Thirteen cars were in the session and only top 4 continued the weekend. The nine slowest were sent home packing. I loved that era of F1.

It _is_ sad that inflated egos and whinging over slicing up an already enormous pie are preventing the grid from growing again in a time of prosperity. Larger fields scream economic success - at least to me, anyway. Whilst I certainly don't want farcicial outfits like Andrea Moda to return, I think we're a little too hung up on professionalism today - it's led to sterilisation. If there were 32 cars/16 teams attempting to qualify and an outfit like Hitech or Van Amersfoort (still quite professional under the circumstances) were a 'bubble' team I think that would be more than acceptable. For a pre-qualifying system to work in the modern era however, there would need to be a payoff for those that might miss out. A single 1hr practice session on Friday morning for the teams in the bottom half of the Constructors Championship ahead of Friday afternoon pre-qualifying would at least give those teams ample track/air time before being cut, ahead of a 30-car Saturday morning practice and Saturday afternoon qualifying to set the field.

interesting thoughts on a modern pre Qualifying session and not a bad way of doing it either , but I doubt we will ever see that many cars again (but we could dream) At this stage I'd be happy with the grid being 26 cars with the addition of 3 teams (let's say Hitech , Andretti and Prema or even Van Amersfoort) That would hopefully give some younger guys more of a chance to show what they could do instead of sitting and hoping to be picked up by one of 10 teams..and hopefully given a chance. P.S Love the name btw :)

They do need more teams on the grid but the trouble is that the new ones would almost certainly be guaranteed to be at the back or fail to qualify. The complexity of the working relationships between teams (i.e sharing components and so on) makes F1 enough of a financial gamble unless you have a proper strategy like Red Bull does. If there was a large enough entry (more than 34 cars) the non-qualifiers could still have a small race of their own at some point and have their own championship like they did in 1987, but to really extend this out you'd need to change other things, such as getting as few people to work on the car as possible

Great video, many thanks for putting it together. These were the halcyon days of F1. Some of the teams were terrible, like Life Racing, but it all added to the sport somehow. Today F1 seems all a bit too sterile and dull.

Good job man 👍 Reddit promotion is always a good move, next time try to do a more "international" thumbnail with a simple image with an inthrigating text. I see lot of big channel doing that and I thing this could help you grow. I absolutely prefer your videos than from many other big youtubers

Thanks for the tip , I will keep it mind, not sure what you mean by an "International" thumbnail but yes it is an area I can definitely work on. Thanks for the support :)

10 Teams, 20 cars is bloody boring. It's not a sport now. It's an Entertainment Cartel.

So many cars to choose from and yet you’ve managed to include some cars that never had to prequalify. Lazy content. Lack of research.
