WHAT WAS JESUS DOING UNTIL HE WAS 30?

Born in Bethlehem.
Lived near Jerusalem until he was 2 yrs old when the Magi visited him.
He and his parents fled to Egypt until Herod died. That lasted anywhere from a few weeks to a few years.
They returned, but not to Judea. Instead they moved to Galilee when Jesus was around 3 or 4.
The next biblical story takes place when he was 12 yrs old. He visited the temple and spent time discussing the Law with the leadership. Something uncommon for a child to do. They noticed something was different.
From there we assume he worked in his family business. People called him Rabbi, which was a name usually reserved for an official Rabbi who had gone through Rabbinical school, and become an older Rabbi's disciple... However, I don't think that Jesus did that. I think he worked in his family business and studied the torah on his own time. I think this, because people were surprised when he started his ministry. They thought of him as simply a carpenter (or the word could be translated Mason). They said things like, "where did this man get such learning?" (my paraphrase) if he were a true rabbi then the obvious answer would be, "from Rabbi Markowitz" or something like that.
He doesn't show back up until the beginning of his ministry.
There are apocryphal stories of Jesus healing birds etc. when he was a kid. Most scholars agree that they were written a few hundred years later by over zealous monks.
In biblical times, ink and paper (papyrus or velum) were expensive commodities. Written stories were short and to the point. They wrote from edge to edge with no margins to pack as much onto a page as possible. The fact that Jesus' childhood is a bit of a mystery is not all that surprising, considering that the early writers were not wealthy. They wrote what was important to the story.
We are used to reading 100,000 word biographies in our modern low cost printing era. However, that was not so much the case in antiquity. So a missing childhood is not a big surprise.

After having some readings from many books my opinion is that- The Jews ( Now called as Bene israelis in India ) went out of Judea in reins of Nebuchadnezzar in 598 BC called Diaspora..Few Jews survived the Ship wreck at the Indian Sea shore , those who were dead were Buried on the sea shore ( there Cemetery is Sill available there ),. Jesus always talked about the Lost Ships and these were the the people who came to India 598 yrs BC. Later he came to India in the Missing years from 12-30 Yrs . He studied many religions here.Went back to his Home land preached there. After Escaping crucifixion he came back to India and settled down in Kashmir/India. Died naturally at the age 0f 80. His Tomb is still in kashmir.( Google for Rozabaal Shrine ) I visited there last year...( There are many Other examples I can Discuss )

They are some evidence Jesus did spend some time in England with his Uncle Joseph who mined and supplied tin. They are also evidence he indeed worked as a carpenter even after he began his ministry. He taught that we earned our bread by the sweat of thy brow. So we can take from that as they traveled they did work to earn their keep. Cedric Calma i dont often question a persons interpretation of scripture because it touches everyone differently. But in this case i think your misinterpeting what is said in the passage. In that passage Christ was answering the concern of his biological parent as to where he was. Like most parents when they lose track of where their children are. He was in his Fathers house and was tending his fathers buisness of teaching. We know this because it was written that the leaders were amazed at the childs knowledge of scripture and wanted to know who he was. Therefore this passage is only referring to a moment in time probably no more than a hour. Scripture did state that at the time he was 12 then we know very little more till he comes to John for baptism. According to scriptures with some math we can conclude he was 30 years old at the time of Baptism and he spent 3 years of ministry to the time of Crucifixion. So they are alot of unwritten time in his life not in scripture.

Until He was 30, He was subject to His earthly father Joseph as Jewish tradition of the time demanded. His responsibility was to support his father's family if the head of that family died until age 30. Jesus fulfilled the law even on minor points. His kid brothers, took up that roll after He assumed his mission.

Joseph died about 29 AD & Mary was not alone. The other sons & daughters of Mary came to temple it mentioned, with her. Scripture told the names of brothers & not of the sisters though stated they were with Mary, also. Jewish law Joseph & Mary's oldest son besides Jesus would be responsible. Sons & Jesus may have been allowed by Joseph (or he could have as well) to travel & work on boat/ship that Joseph of Arimathea had.

God can make you leave your family. If Jesus was told by God to leave his family to travel the world, he would have done that. Even though God says respect your mother and father, God is first and foremost. I have had the thought that Jesus was told to travel the world, learning the different languages and culture and that God may have told him to live like a commoner and to not reveal who he was. I would imagine him living 2 to 3 years per place until he was told to return home. Throughout that time I imagine God teaching him not only carpentry but everything. In fact I think carpentry was 1st level learning but had to know how to grow, cultivate, learning peoples language from each place. I think at some point he became a mason. Not in the abusive way we hear about but to know what they were up to also. He would absolutely turn that in to a good thing because he and God would want things to be built to last. In doing this there would be no waste as things lasted, unlike today 😐. Jesus' travels would have made him a Master of all trades. When the Bible says Jesus Christ will return, it insinuates when everything starts to get so bad, the sign of his return. He will quickly help rebuild and teach trades to people who did not know anything before. In fact God and the spirit of Jesus has already started teaching me and others. The selfish rich kept most people lacking in knowledge so much so that during disasters, a real big one, most people would not know what to do. God and the spirit of Jesus has started teaching through the power of God. This is a sure sign of a big event and not something good upon humanity. People who say they are self taught, trust me, you had nothing to do with it. Something else taught you and most definitely God and the spirit. These are my thoughts and beliefs and really enjoy looking up other peoples thoughts. I so wish there was a group in my town that is not like the church, because in church we don't really get to talk and ask questions. God bless anyone who needs it.

There's a clue as to what Jesus was doing in Luke 2:51-52. 51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. I Luke 2:41-52 is the story of Jesus when He was 12 years old and was lost for 3 days. Mary and Joseph were frantic looking for Him in Jerusalem. It was no different in Jerusalem back then than a city today. Crime existed. Pereverts, thieves, murderers and slavers were abundant. Who knows what could happen to a 12 year old boy. How did your mother act if you had been missing for a few hours? How would your wife act if one your went missing? How did your mother act when you were found safe? How about your wife? What would they have said? "You scared me half to death. Don't you ever do that again." Something like that? How about Mary? Do you think she said something in that matter to Jesus? How would Jesus have responded? How would God respond as a 12 year old boy to His mother and father? Did He say "I have my Father's business to attend to?" Or did He say, " yes ma'am"? Jesus the only begotten Son of God followed the 5th commandment to Honor thy father and mother. Jesus/God went to Nazareth and did as He was told by His father and mother for 18 years. When Jesus was 30 Mary released Him from His vow by asking Him or telling Him to fix the wine situation at the wedding. That reportedly was His first miracle and started to do His Father's work.

Vary different kind of wages in Jesus time compared to now. Rich & Poor seem to be added to the way people taught because of how they wanted to teach to make some point & not from bible times. The few times poor written of was when healed, when in 3 yrs of ministry Jesus taught to help a person if they needed something that they were able to give when asked, etc. When Jesus was asked to set up a funding arrangement to help widows & orphans for Jews ( it was by request of men of the temple that wanted fewer going to them), he set it up with elders in his ministry for any that might be from their religious group as directed by temple representatives.

(Matt 2:13) It was “Out of Egypt” that Jesus was “called out of” by God. (Matt 2:15 and Hosea) There was a 30-year blind spot in his life. Almost nothing is written about him within his own homeland until he was 29-years old. That makes no sense. It appears that he was not there. He was elsewhere. I believe it was Egypt according to the Prophet Hosea. It would be in Egypt that he received an education. That is why his own countrymen were astounded at his knowledge being a Carpenter’s son. Respectfully, I do not buy into the narratives about Jesus spun by the church and Hollywood. I do not buy into the portrayals of him being a White man. The Jesus of today is a fabricated and false one fashioned in the likeness of one race among human family for the purpose of deceiving the masses. No one today can accurately portray him as no one has seen him. That has has ascended and returned to the place from which he came would make him a person that is not flesh and blood. So, such portrayals as being a human TODAY would be false. More than 2000 years ago the demographic in the Middle East was much different than it is now. Read about In a few books & saw 3 different videos of the shrine, etc. The building seems to have changed some a couple of time from when 1 st saw. There was actually a casket with a see through top on it & the remains of a person that was to represent Jesus being uncorrupted was shown for a short time. Like when Catholics open caskets of deceased saints to see the condition of remains is what it was like yet the clear cover was a bit higher & had more curvature on ends the Catholic pics & videos of saints. Whoever it was (?), thought of his brother Simon. There were probably a lot of people who came to Jerusalem that knew of prophecies & saw him when at temple when he was taken to see his grandmother Anna & Simeon (an great uncle if Anna's brother as some writings say). Wonder about if John the Baptist was said to have traveled to India as well as Egypt. From maps & ship routes, it was shorter to leave India & go to area of Turkey, Italy, or west farther than to go from coastal area of places from Jerusalem & other cities. Then travel land & water ways back northern area to return to get to a lot of places.
