Technically all of the game shows his personality, headspace is entirely in his head after all. He made it up. And all the dialogue in the game that isnt character dialogue is from his point of view. We know from lots of dialogue and imagery that he's a quiet, slightly sarcastic kid (foe facts journal) with a good sense of humour, and we know he gets excited even if he doesn't show it, as seen by the blush on most photos in the photo album, and he has anger issues as seen by what happened in the truth and when he does that flyswatting job. Kel states that it seems like Sunny hasnt spoken to people in a while in the game and Basil gets unnerved when he doesnt reply to him and just stares at him, which leads me to believe he DID speak before the recital, but not all that much, maybe just a few words now and there. He doesnt enjoy the summer, he enjoys gaming, he has a dislike of tofu, he enjoys music, and hes usually there for his friends, even if hes kind of the weird kid in the group. We know of 3 of his main fears, spiders, heights and drowning. He seems to have a thing for knives as he constantly carries one and hes overall pretty chill. I find it nice because i relate to sunny a lot, its always nice to find a character to see yourself as. Theres a lot we learn about sunny, but its never really outright said, you just have to pick it up from context clues really, anyways this was most of the information i could think of as of writing this that we know about sunny.

also seems that he doesn't consider himself a person that feels a lot(as in he thinks all his emotions are pretty tame if one ignores what happened with the incident), since the emotion chart has everyones (-BASIL) main moods after MARIS death. Sunny being neutral can have with him being so crushed he can't cry or smth, but it's just an interesting thing to consder. Especially bc of the never smiling thingy.

Sunny, imo, seems to be very childish as well and honestly easily excitable. You can see it in his facial expressions in photos such as the birthday cake one, the July calendar photo and the one with the big present. In each photo I mentioned he looks curious, anxious and full of child like innocence.

In the end of the game, after Basil fight, when you come to the Sunnys house to pick up the violin, you can actually interact with every single thing in house and sunny will always have thoughts about it. It was really interesting to read.

Sunny is actually pretty quick to anger- the reason The Truth happened was due to him bottling up everything and bad at dealing with frustration; he got sick of the violin lessons and just smashed it down the stairs, with little previous indication of wanting to do so. In the real world, his anger expression is the same as Omori’s furious one. And the constant reiteration in Omo cat’s earlier drawings with Omoriboy “just because I don’t show my emotions doesn’t mean I don’t have any” I take it to be a good clue on what he’s like.

Sunny says he doesn't like his own smile. I like to think Omori's ecstatic and manic expressions are what Sunny thinks his smile looks like (ugly, forced, and frightening), when in reality (the secret good ending) its quite adorable.

This might come up very random, but I have the theory that each of the Omori children represent a different attachment style according to the attachment theory: Kel being securely attached, Aubrey being anxious-ambivalent attached, Sunny being anxious-avoidant attached and Basil being anxious-disorganized attached. CN Spoilers Kel obviously is the securely attached child. During his childhood, his parents were always reliable towards him and Hero. Although Hero was the prefered child, Kel knew that he could count on his parents and his brother, resulting him into growing up as a confident, extroverted person. Since Kel knows that he could rely on his parents and friends, he's very confident about himself, his passions and his life, despite not being very good in school. Although Mari's death didn't leave him completely unscarred, he was the one of the four children who coped with the truth the best, moved on quickly and saw what life further provides to him. I see Hero as securely attached as well, despite being more devastated by Mari's death. He's still very confident and looks forward in life. Aubrey is anxious-ambivalent attached. We don't know much of her upbringing, but we can assume that she didn't have much stability during her childhood. Due to being an alcoholic, her mother might have mood-swings towards her. Thus, Aubrey grew up into believing that her mother wasn't a reliable caretaker and that every day could potentially be a bad day, where her mother would yell at her or even become physically abusive. This makes her feel very insecure about further friendships. Aubrey was devastated about Mari's death, since it probably triggered something in her and thus verified her belief of every kind of human relationship being unstable. Due to this, she becomes extremely angry at her friends of allegedly leaving her. If it wasn't for Hero or Kim, she probably wouldn't have reunited with Kel and Sunny due to the past trauma of being left alone. Sunny is most probably anxious-avoidant attached. We don't know when Sunny's dad left the family and we don't know much about the mother either. Assuming that Mari was Sunny's main caretaker, his parents most probably were absent or out of reach most of the time, making Sunny growing up anxious-avoidant. Similar to many other anxious-avoidant attached children, Sunny, even as a child, showed little emotion and always seemed distant and aloof, despite being a naturally emotional person with a deep inner life. Unlike Kel (and Aubrey technically), Sunny also struggled making friends on his own, but thanks to Mari, he got integrated in the friendgroup. Anxious-avoidant attached children and adults often have low self-esteem, which is also seen in Sunny. Especially during his fight with Omori, his alter ego would always tell him down up to the point that he believes not being worth living. Anxious-avoidant attached people also tend to reach out less than securely attached people. This is seen as Sunny cuts himself out from the outer world after Mari's death. Since he thought he didn't deserve the help of other people, he decided to cope with this on his own. Mari probably was also anxious-avoidant attached, as being overly perfectionistic and showing off as the independent leader of the group to hide her insecurities about herself. At least, Basil is the most messed up person out of the Omori children. He's anxious-disorganized attached. We know that his parents were mostly absent in his life, only leaving his grandmother taking care of him. He probably also experienced a lot of inconsistency even during his early childhood, leaving to low self-esteem and trouble making friends. Basil didn't have much stability in his life and probably never learned how to calm himself down or regulate his emotions. He uses his passions to hold on and create a little stability in his life. Especially with his photos, he seems wanting to hold on onto the past despite knowing that desaster would be inevitable. This is shown very well with his passion of gardening and his flowers, while flowers will naturally wilt, no matter how much you take care of them. In the Headspace, the wilting of all the flowers representing each of Basil's friends is inevitable and will happen in every route, no matter how regularily you water them. Unlike Sunny and Aubrey, Basil ends up completely devastated after Mari's death. While Aubrey and Sunny both have strategies how they cope with Mari's death (Sunny retrieving into his Headspace and Aubrey going to church every day to find her peace), Basil doesn't have a concrete strategy coping with the situation, which is common for many anxious-disorganized attached children. The unexpected loss of a friend leaves Basil overwhelmed and traumatized even years after the event and he doesn't know how to cope with this situation. Nor does he reach out to other people. This leaves Basil being the most traumatized out of the four.

I think that the Pinwheel Forest is the best representation of who Sunny is at his core. Of all the characters that you meet in headspace, I think Kite Kid was the closest representation of what Sunny was like before the incident. When his friends and family weren't around to keep him company, he was just a quiet kid who lived with his head in the clouds, flying his favorite kite in the back yard and watching pinwheels turn in the wind. I believe that the various pinwheel motifs throughout the game are further evidence of this.

Omori also says, presumably to Sunny, 'Welcome to whitespace. Where since we spend so much time with sunny it becomes shocking and that we have to learn to accept the truth and forgive sunny, the very character we played as

In canon he only started playing the violin because he wanted to be closer to his sister as she was to busy playing her piano to spend time with him. I would argue that he does have a talent for it, being able to learn the basics and a rather complicated song in only a few months (with only a few mistakes that seem to come from stress and Mari’s perfectionist more than anything) But if Mari didn’t spend to much time on her piano Sunny wouldn’t have ever looked in the general direction of his violin

To me, this implies that Sunny had interest in violin before getting the present and probably played alomgside Mari ocassionally. He joined the recital and took up real violin to spend more time with her. He didn't hate it until Mari's temper, perfectionism, and scheduling became unbearable and soured the experience.

even tho we hardly get anything personality-wise from sunny in the game, from the things that u can infer, sunny is my fav by far. i find him to be pretty relateable (pre-trauma) he isn't very good at showing his emotions and comes off as numb or boring, when in reality he cares a lot, and the emotions he does show mean a lot more in comparison. headspace shows that he can be sarcastic and funny too sometimes, and obviously the huge imagination and creativity. he always looks so chill and calm (again, pre-trauma) and seems content with just being with his friends, even if he doesn't do much . so yea, even tho he has no dialogue, the entire game is basically a deep character analysis of him, and there's a lot to get out of seemingly nothing :)

There are also several headcanons that Sunny is selectively mute, or at least was when he was younger.
