I broke my neck at 16 also C3 quad, don't have any arm function, a big difference what level you damage C3, C4, C5. if I injured 1 more level down my life would of been so much different. Charisma, I am so proud of the fact that you broke the concrete wall, Mama Kelly was always the Mama bear protecting her disabled son, I can understand her love and protection .But you hung in there and fought for your love for Cole, I am so proud of you girl, this is what true love is, When Mama Kelly realize that you were willing to "walk through hell in gasoline draws" for your love for Cole, and you wasn't going to run but stand your ground, all she could do was let go, Love is stronger than death itself and you fought for your love, you are now more than a Mama bear, you are going to be his wife. I thank God that you found your soul mate, for many of us live and die without finding the soul that completes us, Mama Kelly knew this and that's why she gave her most precious gift to you to care for. I love your channel I met a guy in a wheelchair at college 2 years ago & we've really built up our relationship I wouldn't say were dating but close to it we act like a couple. he gets around in his chair better than I do just walking around lol he's always opening doors for me & making sure Im ok & asking where I am if im late meeting him around campus & always offering to help me with assignments. sure we have our ups & downs but this is as happy as I've ever been even when I dated & able bodied person. your channel really puts it into prospective for me how lucky I am to be with someone like that

Cole & Charisma....my husband started having Grand Mal seizures right before our 4th Wedding Anniversary. You both are doing great. We did some of the same things. We were honest with each other. I had people ask me "How can you handle him having seizures as much as he does? To me, it didn't matter. I loved him no matter how sick he was. He passed in 2002....and although it's been almost 18 yrs since he died, I miss him like it was yesterday. When you have found your soulmate....you know. Being assertive doesn't hurt....and it's good for both of you.

I just saw your story on Snapchat and I completely understand. I’m disabled and my boyfriend isn’t. I use a walker. We get stared at everywhere we go. At first it bothered me but it doesn’t anymore. I think part of the reason you get negative comments is people don’t understand that people with disabilities are still regular people we aren’t defined by our disability. Y’all are a beautiful couple with lots of love forget what others say or think. I completely understand because I am in a relationship that is similar.

Absolutely. You hit the nail on the head with the emotional support part. Sometimes we just want someone to walk with us through the thinking process, not to do stuff for us. I’m married 20 years and I have that problem with my husband. He can lift the house for me to help solve a problem but will not wait to know the why. I just him to listen and say okay, or not okay…. We’re still working on it. 😂😂. I’m starting to help my sons understand that. They are working on that with me and their younger sister. I get them to talk and listen and ask questions, like “what do you really want?”. The other day, I heard my 17 year old son having a conversation with his 11 year old sister who was having issues with another girl in her class. His response to her was, “so, what do you think you can do about the situation?”, and I was like “yes”! Good start. He helped her think through it and I believe that was what she needed. You guys are doing great.
