I love this, exactly what I needed. Baby is 3 months away and trying to be as minimal and essential as possible. Thanks so much and congrats on baby #4!

Car seat, crib/bassinet, and if animals in the house or super young children, I recommend a safe place to put baby in the general area of the home. My babies are very close in age and struggles sometimes with gentle hands so having a little safe area they can't grab them while you run to the bathroom!

Thank you. In the third trimester with our first. We've had so many awkward yet strangely confrontational conversations with people close to us about what we need/don't need. We made a registry back in the first trimester after a lot of research and narrowing it down to what we believed were essentials and "nice to haves." People get very defensive about these things and I find it odd! We have just a few outfits for NB to 12 months, swaddles (a few different types to see what he/we like), a few toys, etc. We plan on co-sleeping, and thankfully, we were gifted a co-sleeper. Not sure if baby will be predominately on the bed with me, or what, so we will see how that goes. Another person got us a crib, because they adamantly felt we'd give up on co-sleeping based on her personal experience, so I mean... it was a free gift, so we'll take it. But necessary? Likely not. At least it is a convertible one!

Firstly, congratulations on your first baby arriving soon! What a beautiful time and journey into motherhood! And I love how you put it that people are oddly offensive about these things as far as what you use/don’t use for your own baby! I find it rather comical at this point! But good for you sticking to what you think you’ll actually need for your baby! Because it’s soooo much less that we are told, as you already know! I pray you have a blessed last trimester and a beautiful delivery for you and baby!

Hi lovely Ammie, I'm curious if you don't mind sharing how you feel about others holding your newborn. I am due to give birth to my first baby Oct/Nov and I already feel pressure for my mum and aunty etc to hold my baby, but what if I don't want them to? Is that me being "overprotective" as I've read that it's important for your newborn to only be with your microbiome and only on your body. Is this true? Thank you in advance x
@AmmieHarris2 ай бұрын
@@VictoriaKleinsman hi Victoria! Congratulations on your first baby! What a beautiful season entering motherhood for the first time! And you are not being overprotective at all! It’s your baby and ultimately you have all the say in who holds them and who doesn’t! Don’t feel ashamed at all for your choices or decisions! Personally I didn’t let anyone hold our newest newborn until he was 4 weeks old . It set my parents and in-laws off a bit and took them by surprise. But they are covered in fragrances that I don’t want on our newborn baby when they are still so fragile and new. I also don’t bathe my babies for a few weeks so don’t want excess fragrances on them. Babies most certainly only need their mother those first few days to weeks-and beyond so I just hold off passing the baby around to others til they are around a month old. (My husband and other children are an exception but Baby really doesn’t want to be held by them either) and yes, they are building their microbiome from yours so it is vital they are held by mama the most! I know our culture thinks everybody should hold the new baby but that’s honestly selfish to the baby bc babies only know their mama and really shouldn’t be passed around to every single person who selfishly wants to hold them. Waiting a few weeks never hurt anyone 😂 I know it sounds rude or harsh but on my 4th baby I’ve just learned not to care what others think of our choices with our newborn babies! Explaining your choices will make them much more likely to respect your wishes whatever you decided to do!! Congratulations again and I wish you a beautiful remainder of your pregnancy and birth this fall!
