Totally agree❣️ Living the way they have chosen is less stressful. These days so many parents work 100% (both) and often more. That gives automatically much less time for family. Children spend so much time in "institutions" like kindergarten, schools and organised care after school (until parents are home from work). We have created a society and economy that "force" both parents to work fulltime and overtime. 😑 I must say that I am very happy for growing up in a different time. And if I had been able to have children I would have done like Luca and Sara, simplified my lifestyle and given priority to family. ❤ The harmony, care and love they have and share is worth more than career, fancy life and lots of money. 💕💖 I know that many people struggle financially and must work much to support their families but there are also so many that find their jobs more important than family. When I hear that average time per day spent with the children is one hour, I absolutely feel something has gone wrong in our society. 😢 So happy to see Luce's lovely life. She is benefiting from this, big time. ❤💕💞

He has spinal fluid leaks which caused him to have 3 strokes and his heart to stop, He then endured a grueling surgery which didn't completely work and has left him with terrible headaches. He should have another surgery, but only a few places in the world perform it, and he's understandably leery of it because he could die or be paralyzed. He's not supposed to do anything at all strenuous, yet he has worked on the renovations of their apartment and their olive grove. He's a hero, imo..

We have the two duvets on our king size bed, Norwegian style. No more “floofing” of cold air when the mister turns over in the night. No more stealing covers and getting woken up. It’s great. One mattress, two duvets. You can still meet in the middle. 😊 ❤

I was noticing how attentive she is to everything around her and how she can focus and hold her interest on simple things we are here, in the US. I notice my own granddaughter being so unable to attach to anything for long. Our society in the US is so poorly fed, under- cultured and educated compared to many European countries and other places in the world.

I like that the Christmas holidays fall on the different days of advent in Italy. The children learn lessons and its not all about toys, overwhelm and materialism like it is in the US. My dad grew up in Italy during World War 2. He got little more than the tangerines back then. It was a time of shortage. Just about cried seeing those tangerines thinking of my dad.

Your Child is the most beautiful little soul who is on the Internet ! I swear my heart melts seeing the three of you together. I also grew up with the traditions of Saint Nicholas days on December 6th and with Krampusz, and then Christmas is on the eve of the 24th celebrating the birth of baby Jesus. There is always a little bell on the Christmas tree, and when you heard the bell ring, you knew that the angels had been and the presents were under the tree. Just seeing Luce put her boots outside the door and then seeing her reaction with the presents and also seeing the oranges was enough to make me lose myself in sobs of tears with the memories. The smell of burning orange peels still reminds of Saint Nicholas Day I live far away now from my birth country for a long time and its just between my immediate family that we have kept up these traditions. The next generation hasn't unfortunately. But seeing the Christmas market, and seeing the REAL Saint Nicholas, and not the Coca Cola version, also bought me to tears. These are just such beautiful memories that I haven't seen around me for 40+ years. So I just cant thank you enough!! For bringing us into your home and making me flood with memories of watching the snow fall in the window also with my dad, (I haven't seen snow in 40+ years now) of putting the boots out, Christmas markets, and seeing it all from Luce's point of view as well. I have been following you since your travels through the USA and its so wonderful seeing you create such a wonderful little family now. You are both such AMAZING parents!! Luce wouldn't become such a gorgeous happy child if you weren't unbelievable parents. Please enjoy Christmas and I'll be thinking of you all the way from Australia and wishing you all the best in your pregnancy. The battle over the duvets! We ran two small guest houses here in Ireland, as a hiking operator only accommodating people from the German language countries (including Southern Tyrol of course). Therefore we bought 26 single duvets and 99% of our guests commented on that fact positively, some were even grateful. Once an Irish man commented though: how do Germans make babies? I didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. All the best for you, despite those „cold“ duvets! 💖 Merano is so beautiful, I‘ve been there a few times.

As an active side sleeper, having separate duvets allows the other sleeper to stay warm with no fear of becoming uncovered in the middle of the night. And perfect for sleepers who like different temperatures. An excellent idea that would prevent coupleS resorting to different bedrooms.. (Not a US tradition, but one catching on.)

In Norway we are used to separat blankets. My parents and I went on a trip in Europe when I was 16 (as far south as Merano, in fact). My parents were shocked when they had to share a blanket!! 😮 My father dragged it over to his side in his sleep and my mother was cold and frustrated. 😅 I simply feel "intruded" if I have to sleep under the same cover as someone else, even my partner! I believe we use separate covers so we can wrap ourselves in totally on all sides and edges in the cold climate in the Nordic countries. 😉❄️ My partner is from the Netherlands and there most couples share one bigger cover. He immediately adapted to my "style", said he likes it much better but he never thought of the possibility. It is all Habits. 😊❤

After 25 years of sleeping in a king size bed (in Canada), we decided to put two single mattresses together, and bought single sheets and blankets. Best decision ever! We no longer battle over sheets and blankets, we can roll over without losing covers. I highly recommend it, and we're still sleeping together.

I totally agree, as a Norwegian (where we use separate duvets/covers). 🎉 I have tried the shared duvet but I really do not feel comfortable. The duvets we have in Norway are quite big for a single person and we "need" that type to make sure we are really "tucked in". 😅 We need this for the cold. Many of us prefer very cold rooms to sleep in, whilst the body is well covered to stay warm, the head enjoys the coldness in the room. 🤗

I have never seen that before two folded blankets for each person on the bed. Where I live, the blanket goes completely across the bed and if you want to cuddle with your partner, you got that option.. Sarah, you look absolutely beautiful. In Sweden, Finland and Norway everyone has their own duvet. There can be 2 madrases och just one big one. i found having three children....we had to work after they went to sleep. we did our studies, meal prep, washing up and house renovations after 8pm. now they have left home i cant work after dinner....i have to read or go to bed i am so tired. i look back in amazement at the energy youth gave us.

Yes, it is wonderful Luce is speaking two languages! Luce is beautiful! We are blessed our Granddaughter is 9 and she has been speaking American since she was 3 1/2 yrs old. Her first language is Japanese. She has been raised in America but her Mom is Japanese. And she has a love of reading. Her favorite store is Barnes & Noble!! And she Loves the Library.
