Flavor wise, it’s not, and I suppose it has a use when your opponent has a big creature you want to kill, but they won’t swing it into you. The issue with that theory is that Garruk lived in a plane full of warring lords and forced conscriptions not giant beasts in fact he only had control of the small beasts from his home before he got his spark and Angrath never spoke of anything like the behemoth lair of Ikoria when talking of his home only that villages dot the landscape and he collects treasures to take to his home in his village to his daughters

Actually I would argue that how good or bad colours are depends on the plane, on Ravnica yes blue green is usually quite sinister, on Dominaria it is usually a force for good. Those are after all our two most prominent planes.

For the monster creation, mayby each creature enters with one of multiple variant effects that can't be later changed. Plus a Sliver like ability to effect all your other behemoths. So for example: "when this card enters the field, it either gains flying, trample, or lifelink. All behemoths you control also gain this effect." That way, depending on what you choose when you cast creatures effects what all your other creatures gain. Effectively 'creating' your perfect monsters, based on what you cast.

I have a special story involving new kinds of symbols with the colors of manna. Ikoria woud be perfect for the mountain + forest combo. The idea behind symbols is simple. Cards that use it would only be usable if you specifically generate those symbols, so not even 'every manna' would work to pay those costs. In the case of this combo, the twin spires manna would emerge. That's the TERRA sub manna, dealing with plants and lands.

The only thing is that in Eldraine Garruk pledged his allegiance as the avenger and protector of the Royal Scion twins and follows them forever. So they would have to go to Ikoria in order for us to see him here in this set. I feel Kiora may make an appearance along with Oko. Another idea is, since we are getting back to the main lore, War of the Spark ended with some of Nicol Bolas surviving team members being hunted. While Dovin may be a surprise, I would lean more towards Tezzeret as opposed to Dovin making an appearance. Tezzeret has a lot of potential and power and can even create artifacts from corpses of fallen does or even create lazotep from himself and infuse m it into organuc or non organic material. This will definitely be a story of power but to what ends is the question

While the Eldrazi Titans are defeated there are still plenty of eldrazi on Zendikar. On the other hand, Kiora could become the “villain” of Ikoria if they make her fill the general druid role- by siding with the behemoths of Ikoria she stands in the way of the heroes trying to keep their civilization safe (or simply ruining Garruk’s hunt).

To be fair, we ARE returning to zendikar after Ikoria. As for the enemies that time around, I have a few theories.... theres the likely possibility of the tribes of zendikar, now without a common enemy, going to war with each other as they were prior to the eldrazis awakening. In particular amon those tribes, the vampires are likely in civil war (those led by Drana versus those led by Kalitas, given how hed defected to worshipping and serving the eldrazi. Aside from that, Nahiri will likely try to unite the remains of her kor, and possibly take out more anger on the vampire population, so its possible as well sorrin would try to gather those vampires for a counter attack. Beyond the tribes, theres still the remnants of the eldrazi titans broods, now without guidance of their leaders, possibly breeding and consuming every bit as much as before, just more vulnerable. That said theres also the possibility of other titans we didnt know about (judging by the flavor text on some of the cards from the second trip to zendikar). Theres also still more ruins and undiscovered places on zendikar, gojng f4om other flavor texts that same trip. The hedrons still remain, and who knows what else they could be holding or capable of. We know they were used for more than just the eldrazi by nahiri as she kept watch, hell she plunged a smaller hedron into the body of a freshly veil cursed Ob Nixilis which snuffed out his planeswalker spark until his battle with jace removed the hedron and he used the other hedrons to forcibly channel enough of zendikars mana to forcibly reignite his spark. Speaking of which, by far the most likely villain for that trip would be Ob Nixilis himself, given how angry he still is at having been trapped on zendikar for so long and having sworn to make the plane fall. As for personal wishes, though, I just want a new version of Wrexial the Risen Deep. XD doesnt need to be the main villain, but give me a new version and effect on that kraken lol

Fun predictions. I kind of like your story ideas better than what happened. Alas, no Kiora. No Garruk. We got Narset and The Wanderer and they didn't do anything! Vivien was pretty cool. The new villain Lukka could be interesting in future stories. But it is hard to predict what Lukka will do next. All he really wanted was to save his city and live in it, and be with his girlfriend. And now he attacked his own city, killed his own people, and killed his girlfriend's father. He can't really go back, and has lost everything. I don't know if he will take out his anger on the multiverse by rampaging around with a new army of monsters, or if he will reform and use his magic to save a city and win a new home and win a new girlfriend.

I hope this has a Mirrodin feel to it, in the sense that this is a plane made by Kiora herself. She has the Thassa's bident, so i think this plane is her own personal zoo, populating the plane with behemoths of all shapes and sizes she acquired from the different planes. Also, i hope we get a planeswalker card called Kiora, Queen of Ikoria.

I think we're setting up the next arc for the big bads. Remember, Karn's price for him helping to take out Bolas was the Gatewatch helping him take out the Phyrexians. I imagine the reason we're doing Elspeth now is we're going to see a magical version of the Pacific island hopping campaign and Ikoria is actually Elspeth's home plane; build your own monster sounds very Phyrexian, doesn't it? Then we go to Zendikar to pick up Nissa, because she's stupid powerful and you want a Green aligned planeswalker for dealing with artifacts, don't you? Oh, and the reason Bolas didn't die is because there's going to be a redemption arc where he helps deal with the Phyrexians.

I'm *hoping* that Ikoria is a bomb-ass plane, not just a rip-off of Capcom's Monster Hunter crossed with (at least recently) Legendary's Monsterverse (Godzilla and kaiju). I wouldn't mind a human faction that has a Hunter's Guild, because it would likely include some nice equipment, bringing them back into Standard in a big way. I'm mainly excited for the *MONSTER CREATION* aspect of Ikoria, and I'm hoping the mechanic for the "make your own monster" thing gets around the shit tons of removal by having removal cards be unable to target the "host" creature (the "base" creature that you build upon to make bigger, and the cards that make it bigger are added onto it, similar to Augment and Host from UNstable) until all the add-on cards have been removed *first.*

so basically Naya with a hint of Jund? ikoria needs something different for differentiation. maybe a big creature for each color hellion or dragon for red. hydra or wurm for green. Kraken or Leviathan for Blue. white could get Roc's. give a flavor too each giant beast for each color. maybe before we arrive on ikoria all the massive beasts are in hibernation baddie shows up and wakes them up or makes them go savage. would be a good plane for new phyrexia to invade first. massive monsters ripe for compleation. even though koth is my favorite red walker i hope he loses and we get a phyreian version who planeswalks to ikoria or another low ttech/artifact plane. Imagine if lilliana came here for zombie behemoths. Ob Nixilis drains life for power so i could easily see him feeding off behemoths. Wrenn could be here as Wrenn and Seven lookng for a behemoth treefolk to bind. Ramaz is still out their and as a shaman all about tricking and controlling people is a good one for ikoria. Is Azor free/a walker again since the eternal sun is destroyed? was ikoria one of his client worlds? Domri would have been perfect as an antagonist here. Huatli, Sarkhan, Nissa, Arlinn, and Vivien can all easily find a place in narrative.

Ok, so we know Vivien will be in the set. Makes sense. We also know there will be total two returning Planeswalkers and one new one. It can't be Garruk, because the twins would HAVE to be there too on cards, which won't happen It could be Kiora, but I get the feeling that the new Planeswallker would have to be green as a result of the plane's influences. If you are born in a world where everything is huge and going to kill you, then you'll learn to hunt them instead. I guess the new Planeswalker could be from a world other than Ikoria, as we've got a few lately. This might be far-fetched, but Angrath could be our last walker. We've never seen his home, but he's a Minotaur with a family, and maybe not all things on Ikoria are massive. Red/Black would be a good palate cleanser from Green, Green, Green. And we have waited to know where he's from for 2 years. Which is how many years out WoTC plans. This could be in response to Ixalan block. Yes, we have waited far longer for Elspeth, and I suspect we will find her home soon with a likely upcoming Phyrexian arc, but Elspeth was only just freed, and her home has only given her torment.

I don't think we need a character to carry us between Theros and Ikoria. Think back on other sets and there was nothing about Chandra on Innistrad before Kaladesh until the very end battle in Thraben. Innistrad was a very Jace centered story, Kaladesh was Chandra. Similarly there was no Jace on Dominaria and no Gideon or Liliana on Ixalan to tie those planes together. I think we could have Ikoria being the start of another story or a storing taking place concurrent to Theros. Additionally I don't think Kiora is going to be keen on returning to Theros any time soon since she's likely a wanted figure by Thassa, who I'm sure wants her bident returned. As far as mechanics go... I kind of wonder if the Unstable mechanic of hosts and augments will be worked into the set. Something that doesn't mean every creature ont he plane has to be big, but that every creature can become bigger by augmenting it. As I understood it, the meld cards from Eldritch Moon weren't very popular, so I'm not so sure that will be the way they go this set.

Topher Robeson there is a big difference between bolas and Kiora. Bolas got back a portion of his pre-mending power from the conflux. Kiora is also a part of the post-mending planeswalker generation which continuous loses to the pre-mending generation. Characters like Liliana could wreck characters like Chandra, due an experiential gap. Teferi, Ugin, Karn, Jaya, and Nahiri are far more scary than the newbies. Time magic is BS.

Kiora could find an empy world and brind stuff. she did so on zendikar against eldrazi. J L's argument that lilianna can beat chandra is not because of post/pre mending but chandras age and experiance. Karn has not been shown as anymore powerful and even needed post mending walkers to save him. Jaya was declared to have more power then chandra but less speed and prescision. the only 2 things he was right about is bolas and his maelstrom boost making him like halfway between, and time magic is BS except not relly since the mending since timetravel was basically what was going to destroy the universe so it cant be used all the time anymore.
