Having spent time in Club Fed for making silencers and machine guns back in the 80's, I know a thing or two about them. First is they should be legal. I say this because only Hollywood can make a weapon truly silent. There are three things that make noise when you pull the trigger. The expanding gas, which is the only part which a silencer works on. Just as your car still makes noise with a muffler, you will not cancel all the noise from the expanding gas. If you are lucky you will remove 1/4 to 1/3 of this noise. The second item making noise is the projectile breaking the sound barrier. The speed of sound is around 1100 ft/sec. A 45 ACP at 240 grains travels at 940 ft/sec. I'm not sure of the 22 short. So you have a sonic boom to deal with. The third noise maker is the action of the weapon. So you need to make it a single shot.

Subsonic ammo is made for that purpose. I have it in 9mm, 308 and 5.56.

I'd like to point out that crossing state lines without an approved form 23 for a silender is NOT a crime. This is only required for SBR's, SBS'S, MG's, and DD'S. IANAL, but if an arms company is selling a tube with end caps, one of which having the standard threading for a suppressor, then they are effectively selling you a silencer without a baffle stack. The tube gets the serial number, so that's the silencer. So if you want some real fun, you can cut a bunch of tubes from an appropriate sized pipe and get them serialized on the Form-1 and have a bunch of silencers that don't attach to anything. Once you get the tax stamps, you can then finish them or not as you see fit.

The "Illegally importing a firearm" charge came out of the online fuel filter. That, and possession of a silencer are the only two charges being pressed against him currently. Since this is in civvy court, not .mil court, both of those _have_ to be related to the mailed "fuel filter." See this part: "The complaint notes that possession of both the auto-sear attachment and the buttstock are illegal and that Justice received both items from Chinese vendors. No additional charges have been filed regarding those devices, but Justice also faces the possibility of additional charges in military court." Anything found in the related search has to go through a court martial, which is worse for him.

Using a suppressor with supersonic 223/5.56 ammo, reduce the dB level by about 25-30 points.. So, a 223/5.56 averages around 170 dB at the muzzle. Suppressed your talking about 140/145 decibels. Still very loud, but not as loud. Now, you can use sub-sonic ammo and get the sound down to almost nothing, but the bullet doesn't have the velocity to do the same amount of damage, and bullet energy drops off very fast. Not to mention if your running it through an AR, it's going to take some significant alterations to get the ammo to cycle.

I'm no gun expert by far. I know very little about ammunition however that being said. About a year ago I was over at a friend's house and somebody brought over these bullets that they said are muffled like a silencer. I found it very hard to believe that any bullet could ever be muffled like it just went through a silencer. And yes I'm aware it's not the bullet that makes the noise I'm aware of how the noise is made and what needs to be silenced. With that put aside, what I'm saying is is that there is a bullet out there that does seem to sound like it has a silencer built into it and I know that's impossible blah blah blah what I did find out about these bullets is that the amount of black powder that's in them or whatever you want to call it granules that are in that bullet is the reason it seems a lot quieter than it should be and when I went out and shot these rounds they sounded quieter than a 22 that's the only wait did I know there's bullets out there only because the amount of p gunpowder granules that are put into them it's a reduced size however they will still end your ass so who needs a muffler or a silencer or suppressor when you can just buy the ammunition that's going to be just as quiet as a suppressor would make it like I said I'm not educated on the how this all works or what that means as far as power goes but I know they exist so don't take me as I'm some know-it-all cuz I'm not if anybody wants to weigh in on this ball means put some education here but for those of you that don't know there's something out there that's perfectly legal that's quiet

the only thing that seems funky is that it looks like you have to fill the form 1 BEFORE buying the parts, because if you APPLY for a form 1 while having the parts, that shows the intent to manufacture a suppressor with the parts you have, that's where it seems illegal, since you aren't legally allowed to it with that intent yet

Either way, either way I had a friend that bought one years back and got an ATF visit. All they wanted to see was that it wasn't finished as a silencer. You should hear my 450ftlb .338 PCP air rifle.. 5 shot groups at 500y are 1 minute or better and the gun is half moa at 200 consistently. With a 10in Monocore LDC (lead dust collector as we call them in the Air gun world lol) suppressors... its pushing a 180g lead slug at 1040fps at the muzzle. The gun is extremely quiet like you hear hammer hitting the valve and thats it.. very very little muzzle report. I have taken pigs in the 150lb range out to 400y with that gun and 180g pure lead sptizer HPs that open up to around .60 and near pass thru at 400y. I have taken two deer in the last 2 weeks with it. One at 120y and one at 200y. One was DRT and the other ran about 30 feet. Full pass thru on one and on the second the slug punched thru the shoulder but was under the hide on the exit side so I recovered the projectile, this being a boat tail 180g notched HP (think of a uncoated Berger Hybrid) expansion was .64. You should have seen the near fist size hole in the lungs the projectile left and the totally destroyed exit side shoulder. The energy transfer is insane with those slugs. Firearms don't create that bad of tissue trauma the wound channel 90% of what a mag center fire rifle wound channel looks like. There's more cavitation damage from powder burners but as far as wound channel and flesh/organ destruction the high powered airguns aren't that far off. I believe the energy dump isn't all that different as the big slug dumps 100% of its energy in the deer and the powder burners take a large amount out the exit side. I have pics of face book of that carcass and I assure you if you don't know better you would assume a mag .30 cal shooting a premium hunting bullet is what it was shot with. And you should have heard the impact. That 180g .338 hitting sounds like a sledge hammer hitting a tree when it hit... I have a 1300ftlb 50cal shooting 700g slugs with are just a gaping soft lead HP that i have shot big hogs with... you have never seen blood fountains until you have seen a double lung pass thru on a 400lb hog with that cannon. The .50 MR hollow point 700 grainers are a stunningly high performance round.

I have a 10x1.5 inch version of the solvent filter on my .22 rifle. At first it didnt work good, I put aluminum flashing tape over the inside baffles and shot a round through it with the cover off to "drill" a hole through them. This tightened the tolerances to where it just makes a "crack" noise now, The mechanical sound of the hammer is now the noisiest part of the rifle. I am all for regulating these things, All guns should be required to have them, Think about it, do cars have mufflers? Its required by law. Let's stop calling them silencers and call them mufflers. It will be easier politicaly.

Letter says you have 30 days to get a license to import. Is that the same as a form 1? Or a tax stamp? I must have missed something, I don’t see half the stuff you talked about in that letter. I think you are reading too much “in between the lines”. They say, “intercepted restricted items “ what exactly was in the box? You gave many examples, but what exactly? Seems to me a paralegal could wright a letter saying how the item doesn’t fit the definition and to release it. I like the follow up videos. Looking forward to part 3.

There's a modified CVA inline muzzleloader in some random gun store that has what appears to maybe be a solvent trap on the end of the barrel. I asked the man behind the counter if it was what it looked like and he confirmed it. Said I could walk out the door that day with it

I believe I was told someone sells an oilfilter adapter that you go thru the ins and outs to "legally" use it as a silencer so if I'm not miss remembering surely it would be on the adapter
@whatsmolly57414 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what it is you bought but you can definitely buy a solvent trap that directly screws on and filters as advertised out of the box.

this is why it's important for people that manufacture their own "hunting supplies", to teach others how to manufacture, because then you arent profiting from such information, you are teaching, which is never illegal. however teaching is rarely profitable, so it's a moral situation, you only care about profits? or do you care truly about the 2nd amendment and your rights. it's a complicated issue to say the least. however i personally believe every american citizen should have at least one firearm and be able to legally own silencers, thermal vision, .50 cal rifles, etc... because the more safe we are with having weapons, the less we desire to use them. desire can be dangerous and can cause more harm than good. also everyone having firearms means everyone has a chance to defend themselves from threats foreign and domestic.

Safe passage with silencers if you fill out a form and don't intend on using it in those states. From what I understand.

There is Constitutional protection against the confiscation of property without just compensation, but that's in a real Court (non USC Title 28 3002 15a admin kangaroo ). Anyways as far as getting a BAR member to put together a case for these violations, just not enough pressure or money in it. Good continuation of the last video too I think that people will be very interested to see all the product out there👍👍.

Chinese companies often times have United States warehouses where the product has already passed through customs. I didn’t purchase any… But if I did I thought about getting it from China and then thought again and realized that would be stupid. Once it’s already over here it has no more chance of getting intercepted than any other package from anywhere else domesticity. ***** Edited to stress the importance of buying from a Chinese company with American warehouses is that your order is processed through China and cannot be subpoenaed by the bois, as opposed to American companies who HAVE had their customer records subpoenaed******

Are there any qd systems for a monocore filter solvent trap? I clean my guns alot and it is a pain to take off the muzzle brake to thread a solvent trap on.
@kareemofwheat14633 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand why silencers / suppressors were restricted in the first place.
