the reason why drugs like this are produced, is because of prohibition. If the laws and regulations around drugs was evidence based instead of political based, people would trust the governments. here in UK it's even worse regarding our laws cos we are apparently moving cannabis to class A which is like your schedule 1. this will send the wrong message to youngsters who wanna try drugs. (what i meant with my first point is that if you look at Portugal where they've decriminalised drugs, the rate of use has gone down. it's when they are criminalized and pushed into the hands of criminals they become unsafe

With all do respect, but when there was a heroin epidemic in the inner cities of Chicago and NYC in the late 60's and early 70's, all the addicts were thrown in jail. Now because the addicts are from the suburbs, they get treatment. Hey, I'm all for the new approach, but it is something that is very remarkable isn't it?

Someone has a heart-attack ...and lives....Off to skidrow for you, 18 and life..Darwin award gold medal as your relative that has a heart attack was due to diet/inactivity. You can't tar drug users all with the same brush. It makes no sense to jail anyone thats an addict. If that makes sense then what do ya do with real criminals and those who Choose to break the law in hopes of not getting convicted...Don't know about you but I'd rather mafia esque hitman with 30 kills is jailed for life rather than jim the skaghead who is in the midst of drug addiction, not least due to mental health issues...but remember no criminal activity...If criminal activity is related to drug use then you might have something to stand on but still, it makes sense to educate, inform and help a user. Some of the smartest people in this world have at one time or another taken a drug...So I'd put my money on a user wanting to be clean vs a criminal of 20 yrs..It is shockingly a positive statistic when opiod replacement therapy sounds its horns and says anyone on a program doesn't need to lie, cheat or steal for your fix. They fix the physical side but the real work comes in the weeks after...

Half a million!!! That’s is ridiculous!!! Let’s say each of those packets are a gram, a safe dosage would be 0.005 to 0.020 mg/kg. So an average person of 69kg (150lbs) would use 0.345mg to 1.38mg as a single dosage and if you have 6grams (6 sugar packets) you would have enough for 4,347 up to 17,391 people. I say this show should get its facts right!!!! They way over exaggerated and it’s embarrassing that she being in a doctor show would get this so wrong!!!! I think she mistook the dosage per kilogram for an actual dosage, at that rate then yes you can get 300,000 people high but dead.

@ThatGuy-yp1ij4 жыл бұрын
Don’t be fooled it’s scare tactics, I smoked straight carfentinl for a year before I got clean. I started with a broken back and doctors giving me pain pills then when they cracked down on pills I got pulled off them and had to find something for pain so I started using fentanyl. Then the fetty wasn’t strong enough so I started using this shit. It’s a nightmare for sure but no one I know who actually used it has died from “granules” of it. It’s actually a very short high and you have to do more every two hours just to avoid withdrawals. I can see someone dying from a large dose if they have no tolerance to opiates in general but definitely not from just the tiny amount they say. Those sugar packs that could “kill half a million people “ wouldn’t have lasted me 3 days at my peak addiction.

We wouldn't have inconsistent, unknown strength illicit opioids if we just regulated and allowed a highly controlled market of a handful of opioids. It's insane to me all the fan fare and concern and yet people still don't see the issue here and still lack a key understanding of an aspect about opioids that only the users themselves will understand. Opioids don't have to be so dangerous and many that have used them a long time, if they know what they have and how much can live normal functional lives on the drug so long as they are not being taken advantage of and going broke from a black market product and being patronized by the system and people who don't understand the addiction. We cannot stop people from obtaining nthe substance. However, we can take control. What should be so embarrassing for us is that we don't even realize that we give so much power and control to the cartels and the local drug dealers. Why? You control the supply, you control the game and we would have an insane amount of new data and information on users by having a regulated market. We would also be able to build up a support system inside of this market for the users, who can now stably without the lingering threat of withdrawal and financial ruin thanks to legal, cheap safe access to opioids that have the ability to plan, taper, work with a counselor or guide in said market place to taper off and have a plan of attack for the following year or years or maybe transition to suboxone or methadone. And besides all that and I know this will be difficult for many of you to accept, people have every right to use these substances and most of the concerns of their legality are irrational fears from people who have no idea about these drugs and mostly people who haven't even used them. They are extremely unique drugs and some of the only drugs that you can really function on and to be honest, there are people out there who are traumatized and miserable and have no relief and a consistent regimented schedule of taking these drugs could bring some joy and normalcy to those people. People just don't understand. But as someone who has used these drugs for years and has a hard time functioning without them, it's not fair they are illegal. Not fair to many people who could use this medicine and it's not fair to the people who get caught up in using them that have to pay stupid money for a strange powder that can vary in content and strength. Just make them available band well regulated. Make a few well known opiates available with a weekly or monthly limit on how much can be purchased, offer in pill or nasal spray and give narcan with every order. Initiate a new education campaigns, dissuade kids from using the substances, make sure they understand that heroin and prescribed pain killers are basically the same thing so they understand what they are getting into. We should all be very tired of the stigma with opioids because many can't see it, but that is pretty much what it killing people and causing over doses. Because the longer opiates are not legalized and made available in some orderly controlled fashion the worse this is going to get. You all HAVE to understand that and if you don't, just open your mind and understand that this is the only way. Take control.

The safest way and the only way to fix this epidemic is to legalize illegal substances, in order to keep the drugs "clean" per se and to give addicts a chance on either getting off them or to safely get the dose they need from an actual Dr or a legalized drug dealer. Pharmaceutical companies would make a ton more money, as well. As we all know that's all they actually care about.

You have codeine, it is legal. You also can go to a doctor and ask about morphine or oxy and after a couple of visits you should get at least tramadol, maybe DHC or buprenorphine. In the long run you should receive even morphine if you try to find it hard enough. Carfentanil shouldn't be legal because it is a poison and biological weapon. It shouldn't exist, it isn't even a drug it's just death in its purest form
@chris73brown Жыл бұрын
@@EssexAggiegrad2011 No. The comment didnt mean do drugs as in to get high. Youre sayin 'dont do drugs' as in used to get high which l do agree. The topic is theres times people need what opioids are made for & that is to releive pain when someone is in severe pain. The prob is its very hard to get a doc to write u a script for per say oxycodone even tho u indeed need it thus the person suffering from pain is forced to go to the street & buy a thought to be real oxy but its cut w fentanyl & boom. But if we were able to get these opioids wo a script & otc then people would use them & not need to go street & get counterfit ones. There was a time l needed oxy bigtime but couldnt get it scripted & the only relief l had was to get a street one which l didnt cause was too afraid but was very tempted. Its a gamble thats too risky. Yes, u can find real oxys on the street sometimes but then theres the chance to get 1 thats cut w F which for me dont make it worth it. As far as lm concerned lm only doin an opioid thats from the pharmacy. Most people do them to kill pain & thats what theyre made for. Yes, they do give u some euphoria but thats just an added bonus which enables u to enjoy life when hurting. And yes l know theres people that only do them to get high but alot of them started out w takin them for pain only. Please reply & lmk if u understand what my point is or not. Thx

There are a few major issues with US policy towards drugs. First, addiction should be treated as a medical issue and not a criminal one. Personal use of drugs should never be a crime. Part of human nature is the strong desire to explore and discover new things. A part of that discovery is the raw curiosity of experiencing altered states of perception from taking drugs. The most powerful tool we have is education and knowledge when it comes to drug use. If you educate people about drugs and how they interact with the body and teach them why they might feel a certain way while on a drug, that is a major first step in managing addiction and deaths from drug use. At some point in most people's lives, they will experiment with an illegal drug. Experimenting shouldn't be a crime and destroying someone's life over a drug possession charge is not helpful for that person or for society in general. We need to better educate people about drugs so that they have a solid understanding of the side-effects and dangers they might experience when taking a drug. "Know your drug, know your limits and know yourself."
