I had a very bad trapezius injury due to overloading them too much at the gym and also working a physically demanding job. I have had this aching and sharp pain in my trap and neck for 1.5 years and Ive tried everything. I don't know why I didn't try to strengthen the part that got injured in the first place, I get good relief from working out my upper traps directly. I also do lower trap work and neck stabilization. My rotator cuff and scapula were also messed up from the trap injury but my PT got that back on track, this is the only issue I have left. Thanks for the video.

Because same way the scapula and rotator cuff is a mess at my end too.. How did you get to resolve those issues altogether

@@vaninath8892 hi, i actually haven’t solved the issue fully. I just manage it with movement throughout the day and massaging and stretching the front side of my body. (The pecs) I use a lacrosse ball sometimes, and use a foam roller to lie on and stretch my arms to the side to get a good pec stretch. It’s gotten better but not gone fully. Any movement helps really, especially sports like basketball and just general movement.

Hello Dorian from the UK, Good video, thank you. As a trainer of 30 years it is always difficult to get clients to understand that some of their difficulties are not the result from lack of mobility or flexibility but from lack of strength or from time spent over using one muscle in a particular position. I always enjoy the channels videos delivered with a calm manner and good cueing Regards Sally

Are there any tests you can do to make sure you need to strengthen vs stretch?

The band exercises I wish I could do at home but don’t have this ability

My upper traps are large, strong and tight. The overactivation of them compared to the other trapezius muscles causes them to be tight and the others to be weak, no?
@nathlindemann38110 ай бұрын
Yes, why pointing out the obvious?is just that's the easiest muscle to use for lazy/ poor postured people

As a sports massage therapist most of time tight upper traps come from a combination of hypertonic subscapularis and lats. When I release those the traps melt like butter even for my Strong Man and power lifters.

If I don’t have cables or that type of band you have in the video to the W to Y exercise,what’s a good alternative? I have a single Theraband.
@ThePrehabGuys10 ай бұрын
Can do one arm at a time with the single theraband if able!
