Carrie wasn't really the villain in that situation. She relentlessly bullied at school and abused by her religious mother to a point where she snapped.

I can see her being pushed into being a villain. She is a murderer for sure. Villains can be victims too. I see Carrie as a victim who was pushed far enough to become the villain in her own story. She didn't HAVE to kill those people, some 'deserved' it I guess but not all of them. That alone makes her a villain.

@@chelseaudkler984 I think the only reason I feel that she's more of a villain than the original is because in the original carrying seems like the powers are controlling her but in the remake she's definitely the one controlling the powers. I still wouldn't say she's a villain outright but she's definitely not as innocent if you know what I mean.
@chelseaudkler984
@chelseaudkler984 3 жыл бұрын
@@honestdave very true. I do remember at the end of the remake she was intentionally doing some things almost like she had practiced her powers and she knew that she had them all along. But I also kind of chalk that up to their shoddy production of the film, itself. The remake did the original absolutely no favors. It was rushed and done more for shock value for the current audience with no actual substance. It’s been a while since I’ve watched it, but if I remember correctly, they really didn’t show all that much of the actual abuse she endured. It was like they just wanted to get to the big finale where she kills everyone. Definitely not my favorite remake out there.

@William Bower I don’t think you’re understanding my point. They both killed people. But Norman was framed as “being pushed to far.“ They were framed differently but still committed heinous crimes. Not talking about whether or not they were right or wrong in their killings. Just in how they were framed.

I've never seen Carrie as a villain, she was definitely a victim. Eventually she just snapped and realized that they were all just laughing at her and setting her up. I did feel bad for the teacher that was kind to her though.
@mechengr1731
@mechengr1731 3 жыл бұрын
While I dont think any of them deserved go die, the teacher did too little too late. This abuse had been going on for years (at home and in the school), and she waited until Carrie was in her senior year of hs to do anything. Punishing the girls and threatening to ban them from prom if they don't participate may look like 'helping' on the surface, but it really only served to escalate the situation. Sue and some of the girls may have learned the right lesson, but Chris and her friend def only learned to resent Carrie even more.

@alexmagney5326
@alexmagney5326 3 жыл бұрын
Am I the only one who found Identity horribly obvious? I mean we were told how many identites are there and there was literally counting happening with every murder AND they were supposed to take the kid and keep driving the car yet after the car explodes everyone just forgets about the kid? I mean there was not even a sentence like "oh my god Timmy died cause of Edward" or any indication that Timmy (who by being a kid was most important to keep safe until the car exploded) died in the explosion or exploded or burned or anything. The film just went on like instantly forgetting about the kid everyone seemed to care about and actually went back to the kill count yet no one could... I don't know count to ten? I mean where the fuck did they think the kid is or how did they get 10 without 1 ffs. I get that this happened in a brain of mentally unstable person (the misrepresentation of this illness aside) but for fuck sakes there was a room full of supposedly smart people - doctor(s? Idk), judge, lawyers, prosecutors or whatever it doesn't really matter but lol all supposedly smart people - and NO ONE could add or count to ten? The psychiatrist had a list of all the identities for fuck sakes and he crossed out the ones that died yet he also magically forgets? I mean not only was Timmy the only kid there (and there were TEN identities not a hundred ffs) but he was kinda the most important one - I mean psychologically speaking of course. He had a traumatic childhood in which he created other identities to deal with the trauma - that's how it happens in real life and the psychiatrist in the film even explained that to the others yet he still just magically forgets about the kid who is the core of Malcolm's identity and just... idk assumes Timmy died? Even though it doesn't add up? I mean there were other victims after Timmy and all of this would actually make sense if they changed one simple thing - the kill countdown. If the countdown accepted Timmy as a victim and moved forward accepting that Timmy was eliminated it would make sense. Hell, it would actually be fucking awesome cause it would bring Malcolm to his core, which was a traumatised child, and reveal an awesome psychological twist on so many levels. Yet the plot twist is supposed to be the moment when the film seems to be screaming at its viewers: "CAN YOU NOT FUCKING COUNT TO TEN" 😂😂😂 I really enjoyed the plot twist with Edward being Malcolm and I was sure I'd love that movie but then Timmy happened lol. I've been needing to vent about this film for like a year or two lmao so thanks for your not intended opportunity for me 😁

@@narutoultimajm well it's a fictional story with telekinetic powers, the entire town didnt do anything I doubt it was the entire school that bullied her since it was just a class of girls in the locker room that did the tampon stunt. In any case I'm not saying others aren't also to blame and her mother definitely is the full true villain in the story, however to say carrie isnt one or to say that viewing her as one is messed up even tho she literally killed an entire school, is also just not correct, objectively she is a villain and it's not messed up to say she is but the fact that what made her victim also made her into that villain should probably be brought up as well. If anything I dont see the message as "dont fuck with people or you'll get whats coming to you" as a threat, but instead "dont fuck with people, you dont know their story and what can make them snap", not just violently but mentally, which can apply to school shooters, adults who were abused who then abuse others, and suicide victims, without excusing the harm they do if they did any

@@genesisfunes7551 oh “It’S a FiCtIoNaL sToRy”....I would of never guessed. Actually the whole school really did, did you even watch this? Or better yet read it? That school and it’s inhabitants literally tormented her. You just come across like a snob right now that clearly likes the look of their own words. She was a victim. And when someone loses their mind, especially due to continued torment, they don’t become the “villain” that’s not how that works. If somebody is tortured daily, to the point where the mind breaks. They are not a villain. Villains have motive, it’s not spontaneous. They plan their actions out.

I've *never* considered Carrie a villan. She's an innocent victim who finally snapped after being pushed to breaking point. Even in the book when she razed her hometown to the ground I felt sorry for her. The years of built up rage, hurt, humiliation and anger came pouring out. Once the flood gates in her were opened that was that...she couldn't stop what was happening. Just my two cents...😘

This is 2 flawed cents though. She killed everyone in the town [in the book], and a lot of innocent teens died in the movie. At the end we do see what she sees which is everyone laughing at her when we know only those assholes who got what was coming to them where laughing which was like 4 people out of everyone. She then proceeded to murder everyone because of bullying when people were trying to help her. That’s like saying a school shooter was the victim because he or she was bullied... this logic doesn’t work at all. Not trying to come for you, just saying.

I'd say if Carrie is on this list - that Jason should also be on this list for similar reasons. Jason was bullied and almost drowned at the summer camp his mom worked at. He even gets to see his own mother die at the hands of a survivor that literally only killed her to defend herself after all her friends had been brutally murdered. It seems somewhat reasonable that Jason should take on his mom's role at Camp Crystal Lake after that point considering all that alone.

Carrie and Grace were not really the villains of their movies. Carrie was an outcast who had a *very* religious mother, no friends and labeled as the weird girl who happens to have psychic powers. She was already walking in the emotional tight rope with the bullying peers and the humiliation at the dance had broke the straw on the camel's back. The real villain was the blonde chick and her boyfriend. In The Others, Grace had been suffering migraines and taking care of two children who suffered from photosensitivity had stressed her mentally and psychologically. Despite being strict and overprotective, she does love her children. She mentioned that all she remembered was that she had a huge migraine and the kids were agitating it. In a sudden bout of psychosis, she smothered the kids before she realized what she had done then killed herself out of despair and guilt. There were no villains in the movie, the only ones suitable to be labeled as antagonists were the 'trespassers' aka Victor and his parents whom Grace had thought of as ghosts.

Honestly.. Carrie shouldn’t be on the list since she was more victim than villain, she only became a villain after a lifetime of abuse. By your logic, Norman Bates should’ve made the list for the same reason

Is there really anyone who says Norman Bates isn't a villain? He didn't make the list because everyone already knows he's the villain.
@jakealter5504
@jakealter5504 3 жыл бұрын
@@donwhiteley3293 he is but his backstory is very similar to Carrie’s. I was saying that if Carrie is on this list due to snapping after years of abuse then Norman should’ve been included as well. I honestly would’ve put Norman on the list instead of his mother since she was the villain BEFORE becoming his victim while Norman, much like Carrie, was a victim before being a villain

Carrie wasn't the villain. She just got tired of taking the villains' shit and took the power back.

You forgot Urban Legend! That movie was a phenomenal horror movie with the girl from the noxema commercial (Malin Ackerman) dominating the bad guy or killer role!

In my opinion All The Boys Love Mandy Lane would have made more sense than Carrie. I get that Carrie becomes villainous at the end but the title of the video is 'Victims That Are Actually The Villains' , which I implies Carrie was the villain all along?

Carrie's actions were 100% completely justified. Not really a villain it seems.

The Blind Guy from Don't Breathe (2016). I was really sad for him until the twist at the end. (not spoiling).

I'd also add Gordo from The Gift, The Family from It Comes At Night, The Blind Man from Don't Breathe and George and Gloria from Villains. And just to rile up the fans, the kid in Identity.

I don't think I will identify the family from It Comes At Night as a villain. I don't even think there's a villain in this story. The family only want to protect themselves in a post-apocalyptic world and thus feel suspicious and unsafe when a new family come. They try their best to help the other family and at the same time, protecting themselves. They kill the other family because they think the son is infected, while in fact it's actually their own son. I don't know how to classify them but they're certainly not villains.
