The "Qui-Gon's crystal is in Luke's ROTJ lightsaber" theory is my FAVORITE, because of its sentimentality and how much sense it makes story-wise, and I think the "Obi-Wan and Satine have a son" and the "Mace Windu survived" theories are the other two mostly likely to be or become cannon. It's widely-known by now that Rey was originally supposed to be a Kenobi, in the form of a granddaughter. If the powers that be had chosen to stay with this aspect of the plot, it's highly possible that they would've A] confirmed the second of the three theories I mentioned earlier, and B] made Corky Kryze her father. As for Mace Windu, it would be interesting to learn exactly HOW LONG he lived after the events of ROTS, which would determine if he was able to not only keep in communication with Obi-Wan, Yoda, and any other surviving Jedi, but also to be involved with the Rebellion and/or cross paths with Anakin's children.

I watched Revenge of the Sith at a family gathering with a couple of younger people who hadn't seen the original trilogy and some older people who hadn't seen any of them and they became convinced towards the end when Anakin starts getting paranoid that Padmé and Obi-Wan were actually having an affair and it was going to turn out that Obi-Wan was actually the father of Padmé's children. I've become obsessed with this interpretation.

I used to think there was a connection between Qui-Gon's lightsaber and Luke's green lightsaber. Mainly when Phantom Menace first came out, where they were the only two green sabers we'd seen in Star Wars movies at that point. When Clones and Sith showed other green sabers, I weren't so sure anymore. But I'd still like to think Luke's green saber has Qui-Gon's saber crystal.

In ROTJ, the introduction of Luke should've been of him at Obi-Wan's hut, now ransacked by Tusken Raiders, Jawas and other scavengers. He is there with C-3PO and R2-D2 and is using his force sensitivity to silently search for something. His use of the force unveils a hidden compartment beneath the stone floor where he finds a small container revealing the green kyber crystal from Qui-Gon's sabre inside. Obi-Wan had saved it after Qui-Gon's demise on Naboo so many years prior. Once Luke picks it up with his organic force-sensitive hand, he has a series of quick flashbacks to that crystal's history including the epic three-way duel (of fates) with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan against Darth Maul. He then uses it to complete the construction of his new sabre. He tests it out in the hut, stores it away in R2's dome cannon and then the three of them set off in a speeder to carry out the rescue of Han Solo. This would've helped tie the two trilogies together that much more. Oh well. Another missed opportunity.

Actually, luke made a synthethic lightsaber crystal. Even though it's a sith way, and neglected by the jedi, luke needed it so hard that force ghost obi wan showed him how to do it.

Apparently Charles Soule said on a twitch stream that he considers the the deleted scene of Luke building his lightsaber from episode 6 to be canon enough as it was created by George Lucas. So he will not contradict this in his comics.

pretty sure the cannon reason behind the lack of yellow sabers is due to the saber being prominent among a faction of jedi whose goal it was to hunt down and destroy the dark side. since a sith had not been seen for a thousand years this faction of the order naturally grew smaller and smaller untill few of them were left and the ones that were left were typically posted to the temple guard. interestingly enough this faction of jedi was one of the few things that palpatine feared so he ordered every single temple guard killed. my memory sucks but im pretty sure its something along those lines. as for purple i am unsure what the cannon reason behind it is but the purple light saber typically is used by somebody who has both light and dark side qualities. mace practices vaapad which utilizes the dark side thus he has a purple blades as did darth revan for some time. the fact that the jedi council is super strict in regards to jedi dipping into the dark side is likely why the purple blade is so rare.

At this point, it would be stupid to not make number 1 canon. It makes perfect sense, would add a lot to the story of Star Wars, add a connection between Luke and Qui Gon that otherwise wouldn't exist, and make the whole series come together just a bit more.

Regarding the kyber crystal in Luke's lightsaber, let's remember one thing. Obi Wan fought General Grevious in Revenge of the Sith, and Grevious had four lightsabers. Two were blue and two were green. I highly doubt Obi Wan left Grevious's sabers on Utapau, so he could have had 5 lightsabers in addition to his own (the four from Grevious and Anakin's) when he went to Tatooine with baby Luke. Luke's crystal could be from one of those two green lightsabers.

Did no one see the episode of the Clone Wars animated series where Luminara takes Bariss Offee to the caves beneath the temple where she selects the crystal that becomes the heart of her lightsaber? The purple and yellow crystals are rarer than the blue and green , hence fewer sabers in those colours. Can we not let Disney and JJ Abrahams retcon everything cool about Star Wars just because he can never be arsed with continuity or narrative cohesion (See also: Star Trek)

After ep IX I think the Jedi adopted the rule if two so that they don't repeat the mistakes of the old order. They obviously have a lack of Kaiber Crystals so I reckon that Rey's new lightsabre would be the master lightsabre and Anakin/Luke's be the apprentice lightsabre. The first duo to wield this would be Ret and Finn. Then when, Rey felt Finn was ready to take on an apprentice, she would relinquish the sabre to him. Finn would take the sabre and give Anakin's to his new apprentice and thus the cycle would continue.

I am pretty sure I have seen the idea of Luke's kyber being Qui-Gon's in a fanfic. Mind you, in the epic series of Tattooine Slave Culture that is Double Agent Vader, it seems Vader uses the kyber from Ahsoka's abandoned blade to make a new saber for Leia (who at that point he doesn't know is his daughter, just that she's his contact with the Rebellion and he's become her mentor in the Force).

I dig the Qui-Gon lightsaber theory because in a deleted scene from Episode VI Luke builds it at Obi-Wan's hut in Tatooine, and since Obi-Wan took Qui-Gon's lightsaber after his death in Episode I, it's possible he kept it or at least the crystal as a memento from his Master. I mean, the whole Satine thing as well as his relationship with Anakin show that Obi-Wan did form attachments to those he cared about, but unlike Anakin, he didn't let them tempt him towards the Dark Side. At least not so much, since he clearly got angry when Maul killed Qui-Gon and that anger helped him beat Maul.
