Taker is my favorite, too. Punk was outstanding, but he wasn't on the same tier as Taker and Cena in terms of status and seniority (who had earned the right to do what the want, apparently). He should've picked his battles better.

The version I always heard was that taker had told Punk to wear a suit for an upcoming tv convention so he would "look smart" for the sponsors and network executives. It wasn't a general "wear a suit out on the road", because almost nobody did that.

WWE just fines guys for weed if they test positive. However, when you go out and get arrested for it, it puts them in a negative light. In RVD's case, you also have to remember that they were driving under the influence and caught with harder stuff.

Many brazilians probably felt personally offended and they are not the kind of people you want to make feel offended as it's easy to make them get violent. When you combine their culture with low level of education & corruption that makes uneducated people get rich, one step too far as a heel can start a riot. In enterteiment you have to adjust to the audience, and in a place like Brazil, that might imply caging a bit of your douchy gimmick.

I think it was more that the cops guarding the place were very patriotic (which is common in brazil) and raised issues rather than the audience themselves. People who were in this house show were mostly acquainted with WWE, it was pretty empty too. But yeah, a lot of brazilians cant draw the line between character and real person in other medias too. Soap opera actors who play the bad guys are often threatened irl, one actress even received death threats in 2016 for the character she played in "Haja coração", some soap opera mildly popular.

Here in Brazil our flag is a simbol of pride and patriotism, much like in the US, there are even laws reagarding its use and kicking it is a complete sign of disrespect, Wrestling isn't that popular in Brazil, so the cops didn't know about kayfabe and stuff, and therefore, were offended by that. They were just doing their jobs, it's silly I know, but that's how things work here.
