My husband did paced bottle feeding and I nursed. It's not the nipple or anything, it's the flow. A bottle allows for easy/ overfeeding. They really do need to be able to take a bottle, it just shouldn't be the mother if she's nursing. Edited to add: They were struggling to get that baby to take the bottle. It may look like comedy but they were desperate. The baby would latch and break and grasp for boob and feel hard plastic. That man was firmly in, "this child will not out do me..." mode. That baby's given them hell about that bottle.
