Sony Xperia is an underrated phone but trust me it is the only unique phone in the whole market. I am a sony user since 2012 and no other phone has given me the convenience of Sony. Google Pixel comes pretty close but Sony is another level so it is also the most expensive phone on the market because they are confident in what they put on the market

using an xperia 5ii and google pixel 6a, unfortunaltely my xperia has 4 green lines in the screen now (maybe my own fault for washing it too much with water hahahahaa) but the sony 5ii is way nicer phone. now gonna go swithc to the pixel 6a soon but will use my xperia 5ii as a camera on the side (the 4 green lines are now just too much to handle, it was just 1 first and i could still use it in a normal way). until i saved enough money again to buy another sony. probably a 5 or 1 series. sony's battery care is just way better than google pixels. sony splitscreen is the best in the world also, so nice with the 21/9 and the cameras were better of the xperia 5ii although the phone was also 2s as expensive. i expected more from google pixel. but google pixel is just point and shoot hdr that is it. when zooming in the xperia 5ii blazes away that picture quality of the pixel 6a. ill never go back to pixel.

For its wanna-be and its crap noise reduction algorithms overall (but mostly for the dusk and night scenes), Xperia 1IV and V were the most unsuitable on the market for the price tag. Front cam is still true to life quality at 3 mp fixed (10 years behind everything on the market nowadays) and its BOKEH modes (for 1IV the most expensive one) is still a disaster after the latest upgrades. Underrated for its refusing to help or improve it for users, nor fixed as it should. Shame!

not in HDR. Since the 1v Sony's up their games in Auto mode and people still think they're only good using manual. when in reality you dont have that nice HDR effect, resulting in blown out highlights and crushed shadows. Phones' sensor are still not as good as true cameras' sensor and cannot retain that much info shooting RAW.

The Xperia WAS actually better than I expected. I was genuinely surprised sometimes, thinking it was the iPhone. I think the iPhone sometimes needs tap to focus from the photographer. The Pixel has everything in focus at all times. Overall the Pixel won with the Xperia a close 2nd. Who'd have thought?

Xperia has always been great. Those famous tech youtubers would want you to believe otherwise, they get extremely terrible shots or somehow prefer the worse photo. But those aren't their true opinions, you can tell who have been paid by a competitor. That's what I found on my 1 III, I prefer the shots coming out of the Xperia 95% of the time compared to the S23 Ultra. The only time I'd prefer iPhones and Samsung is in extreme low light, where it's even hard for a human to see.

If your phone display Supports 1 billion colors Stop the video at 33 seconds and watch the colors of the grass on the Sony camera. I see many colors of yellow and green grass in different shades, as if it captured by a real human eye. Other phones capture limited colors So Sony has a Technique called color science ( cinealta ) in the Alpha division of cameras, and they talked about it a lot and introduced it into Xperia phones I think in 2019 Also the dog shot at minute 8:5 If the light on a dog’s face comes from the sun, it will naturally have yellowness, so I want to say that the Sony camera engineers are geniuses and It seems that Sony has provided the best macro lens in phones as well

Useless supporting 1 mil as long the display gets burned in random areas, as the noise algorithms are way behind its time and burned pixels in low light photo shooting never fixed by a software noise reduction improvement. LED is useless and so weak set for shooting in any scenario for ultrawide and mostly telephoto (I've tested both IV and V)!

🍀 Hi! I'm currently watching this video on the iphone 14 pro max because the galaxy s24 ultra doesn't have the quality I need and I'm waiting to get the Sony Xperia 1 VI. In my research the iphone and xperia are pretty equal in picture and video quality in this video, although the video is best on the iphone! In the naturalness of the colors, the gamma of the originality of the colors, the sharpness, etc. iphone and xperia are the best! And the pixel sometimes takes successful pictures, the pixel is either too artificial, too dark or light, does not consistently correctly capture scenes and situations. In my observation at the moment, the order is: 1) 15 pro max, 2) xperia 1 VI, 3) pixel, while xperia and pro max are both walking side by side with very high quality. I changed my xperia 1 V to a galaxy s24 ultra and I regretted it pretty much right away because the galaxy is not very high quality, it's more of a quantity chaser, I just don't like the fake color gamut of the galaxy either on its screen or camera, and the galaxy is constantly hot and has other bugs and it's actually a shame because the s24 ultra looks beautiful so I'm replacing my galaxy s24 ultra with an Xperia 1 VI. If you know how to use in-depth video recording, actually I think you'll be surprised by the video quality on Sony. I'm using the 1V right now and I can't admire it enough. Plus if you know how to do video editing, S-Cinetone on Sony is way superior than on iPhone. Other than that, I agree with everything else you have commented.

They all did great, they all had their hits and misses. I was blown away by the telephoto macro on the Sony. That's amazing to have on a phone. I don't think they're a clear winner here, so phone camera fans can grab whatever phone they like.

On a bokeh photo on Xperia, there seems to be a lense flare, that could've been fixed just by tilting a shot by less than a millimitre. Also to take in mind, HDR dosn't work in Bokeh mode.

Wow, for me 90% of the pictures i preferred were from the Sony. They really finally upped their game when it comes to auto mode and processing. I don't think this phone is overpriced like many people claim. Especially when we consider the high end camera sensors, Zeiss lenses and other additions like the mechanical shutter button, headphone jack and micro sd slot. The big problem for Sony is the terrible timing of the release and the fact that you can get an S24 Ultra for over EUR 400.00 less and a Pixel 8 Pro for almost half the price of the Xperia 1 VI. Same goes for many other, more popular, high-end phone brands.

The main sensor is good on Xperia V but it seems they improved on the other 2 sensors.There is no number 1 among the traditional smartphone companies when it comes to photo/video but I think Sony is much better on the manual options.Somtimes I wonder if there is anything left to go further with this camera format and what is the future when it comes to smartphone photography.

the auto mode is really impressing me so far. there are definetly still failures, the blown out high lights on the front facing are basically non excusable in my opinion. and the system clearly still has many issues with flaring. But overall. very impressive.

Xperia 1 VI consistently blows the others out of the water. However that misty photo thing is interesting cause I've seen it occur a lot also on my Xperia 1 ii, it seems likely to happen when light is hitting the camera lens from the side and it messes with the sensor somehow.

Im not sure. But the reason why the iPhone can't properly focus on the flower and the food is probably because the iPhone has very weak minimum focusing distance. I pre-ordered a Xperia 1 Make VI in Singapore on 18th May, and I will get in on around 22nd or 23rd of June.

I thought it would be a standard case of Pixel and iPhone sweeping the whole thing, but surprisingly....... I found myself choosing Pixel 40% of the time, Xperia 40% of the time, and iPhone just ~10%, in cases where it is managing highlights better, in fact in every comparison iPhone basically came out as the worst.

The Xperia 1 VI seems better at objects than people; I get a similar portrait shot on my Xperia 1 V at 4:19, I could also tell on the selfie video earlier on as the Xperia still has no AF on the front camera of your face lacked the detail compared to the other two. They may finally reintroduce AF on the front camera as they did on the XZ Premium all those years ago!! The macro shooting is very impressive on the Xperia 1 VI as were some dark shots Also I was initially hung up about the screen resolution, but as my Xperia I V usually runs at 1080p for the vast amount of time, the brighter screen on the Xperia I VI and longer lasting battery is probably better overall

Could you please do a outdoor test in the sun to se what phone has the best brightness for longest? The iphone, Pixel and samsung just last about 5 min when oneplus 12 seems to do nonstop. Want to know if there is more phones.

Great comparisons as always. But as i think, you already know, there is differences between these phones when it comes to photography. For example the Pixel is the one that is made for those who prefer to take a quick shot on their food or candles at home. The xperia is more of a nature/outside kind of a phone to take photos with while the iPhone being a mix of the both. You should mix buildings, dark/light, day/night, objects inside/outside, sun/cloud/after sunset to get most out of the comparison if you ask me. Otherwise i think its kinda unjustified action towards the capabilities of them all since all these situations were tricky and uncommon ones. Still a good comparison, but it will give less good image to the real capabilites of the phones :)

Great video. I gave the the best photo 3 points, second best 2 and third best 1 point. I did not take the dark foto with the blurred image into account and rated only one of the two flower fotos. The final result was: 24 points for each camera. This proofs a point: it is dependent on the situation how good a camera performs. These are all good cameras with slightly different qualities. There is no reason to go crazy about "the best camera smart phone".

I am pretty sure that experia after the new software will perform even better because its quite impressive that even in just its raw power its competing with the flagship camera phones and if we compare its raw auto shooting with the previous experia than its like 60percent better and dont forget all those manual controls with those this might be the best camera phone if you can use it properly

i went with pixel most of the time, then Xperia and iPhone once (portrait mode, kneeling on the grass) That being said, I'd still buy Xperia over Pixel because Pixels have since 6 a list of problems, inefficient SoC, Camera glass popping for no apparent reason, bad battery life. Sony just ticks all the boxes, screen too good (4k was overkill or whatever was in MkV) huge battery, efficient SoC, Headphone Jack, SD Card slot - almost perfect phone and the benefit of the super cameras who hold their ground in their Beta/pre release software version. I just need to find a way to import the damn thing from japan because i want 512 gigs version, to hold on it for few years.

Well done. I dont see any winners here. Where the xperia shines the differences are small. The other issues are the screen. They should been compared at the same screen. However the xperia seems in all to be the better choice with the battery saving and its two days pover and the three years update.

I scored it pretty much, even with the Sony just snatching it in the final round. Sony - 6 Iphone- 5 Pixel - 5 I am currently looking to upgrade and am having a difficult time choosing and am swayed more by the Sony due to the free gift as I can not separate from the competition based on specs and camera/video comparisons.

I picked the iPhone for the dolphins in the night shot but it was otherwise 60-40 in favor of the Xperia 1 VI. That definitely has me thinking of importing one instead of getting a Pixel 9 Pro.

The Xperia to me seemed like the best allrounder. While in a lot of your examples I preferred another phone, the Xperia always was either first or a close second. Except for the selfie, where the Xperia was the worst by far. All 3 phones have a really good camera though. I think the Xperia still is the best phone for photos thanks to the dedicated shutter button and the Micro-SD slot, this is really unique

Most photos that I liked are from the Pixel 8 Pro. Video-wise, I liked those from the Xperia 1 VI.

The Xperia won most of the day light photos. It's just more natural. The front video sucks. low light is ok. The macro is crazy. Most likely because it uses it's telephoto for it.

It was funny that I picked the best shot and I knew it was an iphone because the best shot looks a little unreal. The photos from the iphone is just smoother to the eyes. But Sony has always been more realistic to the real photos , so it is really tough to say if it is good or not.

I've chosen Xperia photos the most, then Pixel and iPhone the least. It's good to see Sony has improved auto mode so much. Manual was always going to be superior to other phones in my opinion, but I may be biased. Been using Sony since mk IV and tbh there's nothing like it in the market. Flagship that does not compromise on storage expansion or Hi-Fi experience in 2024. Imagine 😅 Hopefully I can grab one soon.

You cannot be putting the Xperia first and second in the first videos. It is a clear win for the other two. The xperia looks blown, with poorer stabilisation. Now, it has come a long way in terms of automatic photos and videos, but still has a bit to catch up. Give this phone to a photographer, that s when the results will blow the other 2 out of the water. Pixel 8 Pro is a clear winner in this test.

​@@georgitaalexandru8753 are you talking about the slow motion dog video and the selfie video with the window on the back? Firstly, compression algorithms really don't like a big number of small objects across the field, like confetti or sprayers. So all 3 look bad because KZbin on the dog video, the iPhone looked the best. I put the Xperia in front of the pixel because I Liked the colors more, but more important because the grass is full of blocky MPEG artifacts all the time, and that doesn't happen on the other 2. On the selfie video I already explained, yes Xperia was blowup, but I liked that on all the 3 the focus of the video that is the face of the Xperia was the one that was better exposed, and that is the most important. The iPhone didn't overexpose the background, but the face is too dark and pixel also overexposed the background, but to mask that, it cranked the contrast to the max and made the face look awful. That's my opinion, yours can be different. I just don't like that over contrast look of some phone cameras because it's easy to do that look in post. But if you want something more pastel, more flat, it's super hard to make it look good if the original photo have too much contrast from the camera.

Sony nailed it ❤! Sometimes the pixel8 Pro showed more details but as the colours are wrong ,I don’t like the Pixel, always preferred the Sony and one time the iPhone. I can tell which phone took the picture based on past experiences. Pixel phones tend to have better HDR but sometimes the images look over-processed. iPhones try to make the images look natural, but sometimes they end up looking a bit dull. I think I've developed a sense for these things. iPhone fans tend to choose the better images and think they're iPhone photos, but companies process images in different lighting differently even if they all use Sony sensors. The thing about phone cameras is that there is no right choice as they all perform differently in different lighting unless you control everything with pro mode but then looses the processing limitations of inferior small sensor size compared to actual full frame cameras. Just choose the one that you need by thinking what all features and specs you need the most and go for it. Good video and really helpful, wanted to see the s24's camera as well. LIKED and SUBD

I liked the Pixel 8 Pro and Sony for the most part. However Sony costs more and provides like...barely 3 years of updates. Pixel 8 pro provides 7 years of updates. Since it is widely available, replacing its battery here in Canada would be easier. Also from a cybersec point of view, Graphene OS is compatible with Pixel 8 pro as well.

You had to be careful with the angle in each phone, flare is going to appear in all phones. Perhaps, if you move slightly the camera, the flare would disappear

The Sony was still the best for me although i was surprised by the iPhone also being fairly neutral and the Pixel being so overprocessed, especially the contrast. Also surprised that the oversaturated food shot was Sony 😂
