Yes I do! It just looks better with the wave dial and the Seamaster Pro 300m won't look complete without the wavy dial pattern. Makes me wonder why Omega is phasing out on the wavy dial. You should do a whats in the box video of the 2220.80...

Nice ceramic bezel. But no wavy dial, which was the reason why I picked the 2220.80 over this one as well as the blue ceramic model.

I partially agree with you. Some people do actually use them for the design purpose. I personally dive with a Suunto Cobra computer and would not put a $4K+ watch in 100 feet of water. However, I do not consider a watch a status symbol, at least not in this price range. Just a good reliable piece for everyday wear that I enjoy owning and using.

I prefer this to the PO. I do think there is a law of diminishing returns with luxury watches - and you get to a point with some brands that you are only paying a lot just for the brand and not getting a 'better' watch. I'd love to learn the true prime cost of a Rolex, PP, Hublot, Omega etc - that would be very interesting.

Thank you. I have used that method. Still takes a while. :~)

A good reliable piece for everyday use is a Casio quartz; by definition, if you want a good reliable piece for everyday use, you don't want mechanical, let alone one from higher-end brand like Rolex or Omega. Rolex's, Omegas, Breitlings do serve as status symbols in addition to beautiful and reliable watches, and their price is a testament to that.

I love the wave pattern dial better for the blue Seamaster, but I love the flat ceramic dial and updated bezel better for the black one. You made a great choice....I hope to pick this exact same model up sometime in the future.

I agree w/ you also. I'd be afraid of banging the watch around and knicking it up. While Omega a great watch and not cheap, I'd say it is on the lower end of being a status symbol. I'd be more taken aback by someone wearing, say, a Panerai or Audemar Piguet

I actually like this better than the submariner. It's the most beautiful watch I've ever seen. Had some problems. Mine had a white speck on the Seamaster logo. My AD sent it to Omega to get the dial replaced and it's good as new now.
@Darkanias
@Darkanias 11 жыл бұрын
True :-) the brands you mentioned are indeed solid and reliable, but still brands like Omega and Rolex are a mark above them (and mostly everyone else) in quality and luxury. Take Hamilton for example; it's a sister brand of Omega, though it's a mid-line sibling for Omega between Tissot and itself. One distinction which is a testament to the positioning I spoke of is only Omegas and Breguets come Chronometer Certified, but not Hamiltons and Tissots (that are nice watches in their own right).

@Wael EA: You can get very decent mechanical watches for under 800USD, brands like Hamilton, Seiko and Certina (and a whole lot more brands) make very reliabe mechanical watches. Mechanical (pocket)watches have been with us for almost 200 years, yes they need a little more maintenance than quartz watches, but most of them are just as reliable and good for everyday use.

No doubt. But there are also a handful that prefer the ceramic wave-less dial.. But its just not the SMP most of us have come to know and love over the years without the wave dial.. I guess its something most of us would have to come to terms with.. Future SMP's will not have anymore waves on the dial.

I wear an SS 1964 Seamaster 565, Beads SS bracelet, black dial and dauphine hands, mint.. It was a common model and case of the time. An understated and relatively cheap auto..Women and men alike love it and I continually receive positive comments from associates and strangers. Expensive watches are an attempt at status. I'm quite bored with lesser men wearing and being impressed by "status" accessories. And Panerai? Please..
@psm1167

Well I never said buying an expensive watch was an attempt at status. Lets face it, the majority of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 5k Rolex and a 50K Audemar Piguet. I wear whatever watch I like, how much it cost doesn't affect my choice, its all about whats appealing to me. Just like how your omega appeals to you. I would never buy a watch soley for impessing other people because I am the one who has to wear it all the time. I love how every one gives Panerai such a

Actually, I made a mistake and read the dial wrong while it was sitting up side down on the winder. So I checked it again. Since it was set on March 10 (120 days ago) it has gained 46 seconds. That means it is gaining 0.383 seconds per day. I think that is about as good a timekeeper as you could ever expect from a mechanical movement. :~)

hard time. Really what in the world is so bad about Panerai? They are beautiful watches and have that unique classic look. I don't get why everyone loves to bash them and when I ask this the typical response is that they get bashed because it's that watch that every yuppie working in finance buys when they make some money. If thats the case, and we are bashing watch brands based on who buys them, then we should thorw rolex in there too.

You are welcome gaz. Personally, I prefer staring at watches, rather than people. But then, I am kinda weird anyway and don't mind admitting it. Anyway, congrats. Mine is accurate to about +/- 1.2 seconds/day. Maybe better, it's just hard to calculate. Let us know how your's does. My next personal watch will probably be a Speedy Pro 3570.50. I will do a review on it, but probably not until August.

Nice review ! Need some help! I'm in the the market for buying my first new "nice" watch. Keep in mind that i don't live in the US so i will convert my local currency to USD. Went to my local dealer who gave me equal price deal for the "omega seamster diver 300" and "Tudor Black Bay" ( 3000USD). He even gave a deal on the Omega planet ocean in-house 8500 for (4200USD) Which watch/brand is a better deal?

Oh no, I haven't garnered an opinion of Panerai via the tastes of others, I didn't know others "bashed" the brand, and I only know one person who owns one, he's an engineer, and a very pleasant man.. I personally find them to be a little grotesque and flaccid, far from classic.. That said, personal taste is paramount and If you want a discount from a boutique, I guarantee you'll find it on a Panerai, maybe even with a Ferrari logo on it.

ProgramThis! I would recommend you visit a local shop that sells Omega watches. A knowledgeable salesperson should be able to answer your questions regarding construction and materials. I am fearful that any attempt on my part to do so would result in a lengthy dissertation that no one would want to read. :-)

the lumed indices are encased. the bezel is zro2 ceramic, the indices' surround are rhodium-plated brass, the bezel scale is applied virtually scratch proof chromium nitride material. the dial is a true lacquer. the steel is marine grade 316l with hypoallergenic stable steel (won't release any nickel like any normal steel of this quality)

Hey guys..... Please let this go. I appreciate this discourse started on my production channel. But it's time to let it go. We are not adding anything of value to current or future watch people, which is the ENTIRE point of these productions. Maybe we should sit down together hand have a drink sometime in the future. After all, we all have an interest in the same things.

+Cameron Weber I have seiko skx007 and lost 2 sec in one week and that is amazing I dont know how keep time almost perfect. seiko sbdc007 is made from Titanium and I dont think look cheap, is VERY hard and scratch resistant. you sure you have original sbdc007?! because I know this watch and is all perfect,bezel is perfect. this move. go slow(5-10sec per day) not fast.
@Swedeslung
@Swedeslung 8 жыл бұрын
its not that it looks cheap to me and yes i had the original. There was a problem in the past three years with some of the movements being extremely fast in the 6r15 because of over oiling. I bought it to get rid of my expensive planet ocean. It just didn't get the respect i thought it deserved from colleagues. I really wanted to keep it but 45 seconds is too fast. I Thought the build quality was great but they could of used a sapphire crystal, I have never even scratched a sapphire crystal but I have had 3 seikos with hardlex and scratched all three. It is 3 steps lower than sapphire on the MOH scale. Its a great watch I just had a bad experience
