Ok, this helps me, I want to remove my storage tank, cap the tube going to it and flow water through my 5 stages and out the main outlet into a 20gal beer kettle with floating shut off in the kettle. This way I can set it to produce ro water constantly and when I get my 20gal, it turns off….right?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. If properly installed and the psi in tank is set for the system, it should work. Have you already configured it in this manner?

does that rubber leech chemicals into water?

Many people use RO to remove microplastic from their drinking water. Wouldn't the bladder add microplastic into the water? Thank you for the awesome video.
@DIYwithMichaelBorders7 ай бұрын
You are welcome, we appreciate you reaching out to us. There are specific mineral and solids testing kits out there however we haven’t ever purchased one. The membrane and filter clean the water extensively and once it enters the tank, can’t confidently say what the water exposure to micro-plastic is present.
@philindeblanc6 ай бұрын
So true, Why go through all these 5 stages of filtering only to have the water, and i should add, constant portion of that water remains in the rubber bladder...when we are drinking from leaching rubber into the water? This is a bit insane! Yes, the PPM solids are removed, and I have not tested for fluorides removed yet, but hope it does that too, yet drink from a rubber membrane that is constantly holding the water is not the way to go. Are there alternatives to this?
@philindeblanc6 ай бұрын
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Also, when you change a membrane and you do not flush out the fluid the membrane is stored in and have your tank store the water that held that bad water, your rubber will absorb that and you can remove it all, and need a new tank to have good tasting water.

Do you think there’s a way to hook up this system without a need for a direct plumbing line. Maybe have it as an independent unit separate from a sink ? Running it with a water pump sound like it would work.

Thanks for watching, not sure 🤔 We haven’t operated this system separately from main household plumbing.

Thanks , I always get tanks that are dented from amazon and I wasn’t sure if the dents can make tanks rust on the inside , if it had a coating to prevent rust , now I see there’s a plastic tank holding the water and it had space , between tanks. Now I won’t return for small dents
@DIYwithMichaelBorders8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing this. Thats interesting…tanks shouldn’t come dented…that’s not normal…🤔 Dents in tank can unfortunately cause premature issues with overall performance and reliability of tank. Please let us know if you have any questions. 🧰

Thanks for sharing, this video was very usefull for me. I've just got a new tank for my home RO system. It's this one: Aqua filter PRO4000W (EU products of 4 gallons). However, water has funny rubbery taste when using this tank. I've already emptied the system a couple of times, but still the same. Then I took the air out on bottom valve for quriosity (it stinks so bad of rubber). Now, my question is, is this tank falty or this type of tank just have that smell and taste (bladder rubber issue). If so, with which one I can replace it so not to have this rubbery smell/taste? Since I have 6 stage RO system and if I pour water from small hose before the actual tank, water is perfect (no smell, no taste, low ppm - around 30). Thanks for your attention and hoping for a reply!

Good morning ☕️ any update? It’s likely that the tank will need to be sanitized and flushed. By doing that, it should disinfect the entire internal portion of tank and remove the rubber taste. The internal portion of the bladder is coded from the manufacture prior to being boxed. This alleviates any moisture or mold from growing inside the tank as it sits on the shelf. Once tank is purchased and installed in a home, the sanitation/bleaching process is highly recommended. Although you have a 6-stage system, we have attached our bleaching video below. It may help you get a bit more familiar with the bleaching process prior to following your exact systems bleaching instructions that can be found in your owners manual. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6uxqHRuaMaIZsksi=4KePE0IYzKWSi3Md Keep us posted. 🧰

What does the bladder look like where the water goes in and out from the tubes? Does the water touch anything inside the tank, metal for example, other than the bladder?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching & the water enters top portion of tank & feeds into black rubber bladder. As more water enters, the weight of the water pushes the rubber bladder down. The water never makes contact with the tank itself, it’s fully enclosed inside rubber bladder. 😎👍

I am trying to find information... can you use a well tank instead of an RO tank (for price sake)is there any difference? If so what and why? Thanks
@DIYwithMichaelBorders2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching & that’s a great question. Depending on the size of the tank, it very easily can overpower the system and not allow the water to flow efficiently through the filters and into the tank. We haven’t tried that before...🤔... you can check the manufacturers website to see what size tanks are compatible with the specific RO system you are purchasing and installing.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders so in theory I should be able to use a well tank to store ro water and reduce the air pressure of a well tank to 7-10psi ? I am not trying to run the whole house I have a car detailing business And I want to use the water the water on vehicles so it will not spot up. I do understand that there are some portable units that can do this but I was looking for a more permanent solution to just one line of my, home And I need probably 20 gallons of water to be able to do a few cars

So im dumping out about half my water, and buying filters to have nicely polished water, and I am drinking using glass straw, or stainless steel water bottles while my RO water is being stored in a rubber bladder? You are kidding right? WHy not just have a density feed setup, or a chamber of the feed line pressurized? why would all the water need to be stored in a material that leaches, and with water being a solvent, having it leach even more? This just doesnt make sense.
