In this video we diagnose a 6.0 powerstroke turbo diesel noise. It makes a stat age noise that sounds like no compression on one cylinder after revving the engine. There is also a noticeable tick and rattle at idle when the truck is warmed up. Take your guesses before I reveal the problem!

I've been fighting mine for 3years. it runs fine but I've been dragging my feet pulling motor to refresh/bulletproof/update/upgrade with the several thousands in parts I've been buyn for last 2 yrs, plus the rest of the truck I've gone thru. But I think I'm at the point I'm gonna throw in the towel and give the truck away to my neighbors son once I'm finished.lol

@LeftLaneDiesels
@LeftLaneDiesels 3 жыл бұрын
One lifter operates 2 valves, so there’s a lot of pressure on the hydraulic lifters. Then people remove .002-.005 off the heads when studding there trucks which adds more stress on the lifters. That’s why it’s super important to go to the 6.4 pushrods. Also anytime a truck is 200k miles or more, I replace the lifters during a stud job.

@travmit15 3 жыл бұрын
@@LeftLaneDiesels I have been looking at the same. I'm not sure that a cam gains you much. I have heard stock cams are too abusive and aftermarket are better but normally you gain power with a cam swap and all it seems like these ones do is move your peak power up or down the rpm band. Either way though new cams are crazy expensive. So I bought an overheated motor and I'll be swapping all that stuff over.

I have 2 6.0s. One 2005 excursion and f350 2006. F350 was done by Bill Hewitt of Powerstrokehelp in GA I have put 100000 mile on it after it was done at 137k. Now 240k and still on original injectors. Using Schaefer oil every 5000. I tow 14k dump tailer every other. day. Truck has not lost in value even $1000. If * had a new one I would have lost 50k in depreciation only. My Excursion was done locally in MN and now 20k miles later it has a coolant leak from under passenger head😭.

Quick question. My degas bottle took a dump on my 2006 6.0. New one is on order (OEM) should be here tomorrow. The coolant that is in there looks like a water down red color. Looks very clean. However I don't know what brand the previous owner used. When I drain the degas bottle to change it out which coolant could I use from a local Oreilys or autozone for now? I here mixing different brands could be a problem for the oil cooler. So im trying to avoid any problems.. I would like to go with the Motorcraft gold but my dealer is out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx By the way I just got my shirt in the mail. Awesome quality. 👌

I’m getting ready to start doing some work to my 6.0. 184k miles all stock. I want to have the truck down on my time not a failure’s time. How often does that occur with the valve train?
@BS-np8xt
@BS-np8xt Жыл бұрын
From what I've heard, not often. Just do your egr cooler (upgrade OR delete) + oil cooler to start, maybe throw in a blue spring upgrade, HPOP STC upgrade and an updated water pump (make sure impeller is metal, NOT plastic), and you've got a truck that should last years. If you want to do a tune to boost horsepower, add ARP studs to avoid your gaskets lifting. Above 500hp, look at improving your transmission (better crank, gears, etc), or it'll blow up eventually with all that extra wear and tear. Ebay is a great resource for finding good 6.0 parts for cheap.
