We just bought a second hand hybrid caravan which came with 2x 115Ah AGM batteries. In our previous campertrailer I upgraded the system to 200Ah lithium so we can cook on induction. Basically I was checking which battery could fit on the existing location as there isn't too much room. Then, this video comes up. After watching it and measuring I have ordered the 300Ah battery using your code. Thanks. Can't wait to get it in the van.

Very informative, thank you, Steve. I started camping when I was 12-13 years old on a trail bike, so baked beans sleeping bag and petrol is all I could carry, still to this day that was the best time of my life. But I’ve always kept camping simple even with my young toddlers to children the very basics. Now I’m 61 and still swag it ..With all the what I call garbage people take along with them to make your/there life simpler is what I believe taking away their life stories when they’re older. Good work though . camping is turning to clamping which I don’t like, two different things.

I have 5 of these batteries 2 in my caravan and 3 for my work cars so my boys can use a microwave and sandwich maker on our work sites. We also have used the batteries heavily and seem to work great. All my gear is paired with victron so it charges back up properly. I was happy to do business with LFP cells and managed to meet my needs for off grid and onsite power.

@Australian4x4Adventures once I started using the batteries and saw I wasted my time with agm and deep cycles I just made the decision to invest a new and more stable battery. I'm an electrician and a lot of the times we go to bare sites to set up and almost 100% of the time there is no power so me and my team always have our power tools going and lunch warm. I've had my first battery from April 2021 and still going strong hahahaha probably should do a capacity test and see what the results are

The trap newbies fall into is buying a 100amp lithium battery and the want to run a 1000w plus inverter more often than not a 1500 or 2000w. However the inverter trips out and they think they dont have the capacity to power something, Wrong almost every 100 amp battery comes with a 100amp BMS exceed the 100 amp and its the BMS that shuts the power off, that's something I worked out 8 years ago. A year ago I built my own 310amp powers station with a 2000w inverter with a peak 4000w and a 250amp BMS it runs everything I plug in even the 2230w home kettle. (Some people also fail to realize is that just because a system may pull 200 plus amps they need to remember that's over a course of 1 hour).. Its portable and I also use it to run the house during blackouts. Generally under normal house use get 18 to 22 hours continuous run time without a charge. If anyone is using a PowerStation to run a house they Must remember to turn OFF mains and Must turn OFF Solar panels of roof, there is always residue power in the system somewhere.

@@ellietthillery8204 can do but don't want to hijack the post. I have always lived by how many amps am I pulling, what capacity amp hour battery to I need and how much reserve amp do I want. Very much like a long range fuel tank, more liters more km's. Everyone has different applications I am out for from 1-2 weeks at a time.. I never rely on one single power source... 100 amp batteries are excellent because they are fast to charge when need and a 100 amp lasts battery lasts depending on discharge a long time. I never run lithium under the bonnet way to much heat. I have only ever used lead acid deep cycle or AGM under the bonnet, however AGM under bonnet don't seem to last more than 2 years. I have had lead acid deep cycle go for 7 years. Many moons ago I used to manufacture lead acid batteries from n40's to N200 for earthmoving trucks etc. Shite of a job 🤣 Just sharing basic info I have learned over the years that's all. If you want to know more about lithium power stations and building your own Will Prowse is very good. Had to ask him to start quotation amps for new people because most people have no clue about watts in relation to amps its simple but why confuse people. Also suggest getting a clamp meter it allows you to put over the cable and measure amp flow for when you dont have a digital read out.

@robmadaffari6270
@robmadaffari6270 4 күн бұрын
@ keeping it simple and not putting all eggs into one basket is the key. When your out bush almost anyone can fix it if there is an issue. Its far more easy to buy a 12v battery anywhere in the country than it is to use 2 x 12 lithium's to make 24v. If one packs up you dont really want to mix lead acid with lithium, the lowest performing battery will draw down the better battery, there can also be charging issues that arise, the amount of amps being cranked into a lead acid battery it can and will degrade it very fast (cooked). 12v cant kill you, 24v can give you a tickle, anything above that good luck wont make it to hospital lol.

Have 1 charger from your alt, and have a higher separate charger for solar and run them in parallel. 30a from your alt when you're driving and a constant 40 odd amps from solar input if you've got 600w of panels. Even if you had an Anderson plug to another mppt charger where you can plug in another panel for when you're at camp and you can move your panel around. Nothing stopping you from purely relying on a Dc-Dc charger with solar input.

Whaaat ? I use a 3kw Renolgy inverter (very quiet). We often have the induction cooker going, and run a 1000W kettle at the same time. Fyi, and ordinary kettle is 100% efficient and the fastest and most efficient use of your electrical power. Induction heating of water is only about 40% efficient. We also run a 1000w kettle and a 1000w $7 Wollies toaster at the same time every morning. If we want to heat water only, the ol $7 2000w Woolies kettle does the trick. We are using 2x 120AH Kings LFP batteries in parallel. This is the cheapest way, and has been used approx 4 days in the bush. Works perfectly. We use approx 40% of the 240ah lfp batteries charge per day, but we drive every day, and these are recharged fast using 60A + 40A Renolgy chargers. Remember, recharge time is the weak link of an all electric system. We are recharging at the rated maximum rate for these batteries. Green.. ha. The car certainly feels the load when the dcdc chargers kick in. Powered by burning petrol.

If you're setting up a system that requires hundreds of amps at 12v, you're much better off with a higher voltage (either 24v or even better 48v). Higher efficiency, smaller cables, safer. The reason LFP cells seem more efficient is LFP voltage sag and Ohm's law for resistive loads. At low state's of charge the voltage on lead acid will be down, so for the same amount of wattage, the current will go up. Looks like a Daly BMS (by the App) I only know one manufacturer using/used the Daly (not the brand on the battery) though, that guy is a giant knob jockey 😂 allegedly.....

I see now China has made lithium cells in AA and AAA format available from Alibaba. They are 1.5V instead of the old rechargeables 1.2V so you have to buy the 1.5V compatible charger to suit them, the old chargers will not work. I have been testing the Imuto brand AA charger with 3600 mWh batteries that maintain their voltage till flat. I have now ordered the AAA set so will soon not be buying any more expensive Duracell non rechargables. Their AA's are only rated at 2850 mWh. My Lithium 200Ah in the caravan has also been faultless so far but I can't run any 240V useful appliances, 400Ah min needed I think.

Not the case at all. It’s just the difference in testing equipment. I done a base line test when I first got the unit and it got 305amp on my test equipment. The equipment that LFP use is far better then the stuff I have and at the end of the day any warranty claim would be processed using their testing equipment not mine.
