I grew up in Bedford in the Home Counties just north of London. I spent every family holiday as a child in & around Oban, Ben Nevis & Loch Lomand. One of the most beautiful places in the world IMHO. If the sun is shining, even better! Despite my Caribbean heritage, I still go back to Scotland every year! No such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong clothes!

Love the Scottish country/ seaside. As an American who lives in the Midwest all we see are houses built in fields, cows and the occasional horse as we drive from our small town to the next largish town. I long for the open spaces and the seas in other countries. But alas I am poor and can't afford to travel. My great, great, great grand parents where from Ireland and I often wonder what it would have been like if they had never traveled to America. But them I never would have been born so there is that. Oh well we are a product of where we grew up I guess. Love your channel and your beautiful country.

Made this in my crockpot for todays tea. Only 2of us now so halved all the ingredients. Hubby said it smelt awful when it started cooking. Then mid way through cooking time, he said it smelt delicious. When I dished up, he ate all of his and scraped the plate clean, lol I can vouch it certainly was delicious and will be added to my favourites.

I really enjoy your videos. I grew up in Paisley/Bridge of Weir and always spent summers at Nana’s in Girvan. Papa grew fresh vegetables in the back yard and fertilized with seaweed! Nana took me on a walk every day to butcher, fishmonger, baker and greengrocer to shop for the day’s fresh meals. If I was good, we’d get an ice cream at the local Italian cafe. I live in Canada now but always have fond memories of those days in the 1950s. When you show Dunure in your videos I get the odd glimpse of Ailsa Craig. The Rock was very prominent from Girvan. Nana’s specialty was steak and kidney pie, cooked in a ceramic dish with a chimney to let the steam out. I’m going to make your crock pot chicken next week. It looks yummy. We can get Scottish foods here but not the same quality. Please keep those recipes coming, and the videos of Scotland as well. Be safe!

Plain and simple is always good Cheryl. Good recipe there but would have preferred a thicker sauce/gravy. The scenery is just outstanding, you are indeed very lucky living where you do. I'm in Lancashire (Bury) and it's about 10 mins drive to find some stunning scenery too, I also love being so close to Manchester (where I was born and bred) It's such a lovely city. I've been to Scotland many times and is up there on my list of beautiful places. :)

Looks amazing as usual, for us who are watching our weight I might substitute the butter for stock or maybe 25g of butter the rest stock......👍
@MrDlenrek4 жыл бұрын
How did that work out with the substitution?
@catherinedavid36624 жыл бұрын
Don’t substitute, you’ll spoil the flavour. Cooking for myself I simply reduce ingredients by one half so I get the full flavour but half the coals and no waste. And, I’ve got dinner for tomorrow as well, win win!

We have made this several times and it tastes amazing! Our only hesitation is how much butter goes in to it! The flavor with the herbs butter and carrots works in to the potatoes and chicken and there is never a drop left on the plate. To reduce the butter content, what would you recommend to substitute to keep the moisture level right? Would chicken stock work?

I have no idea why so many people think this is good. I made it according to the instructions and It was inedible. Swimming in butter and reeking of garlic. No amalgamation of flavours whatsoever, just individual, chicken, carrots and potatoes covered in garlic butter. The herbs were totally lost. I am a garlic lover and cook every day so I should have known that this would not be to my standards.
