Skyscraper is objectively a bad movie and anyone who thinks that movie is good is braindead. This movie at least has some passion in it's craft. Skyscraper is a poorly made, badly written, and completely unoriginal mess of a movie. The fake ass CGI set pieces in Skyscraper are not even interesting and the Rock completely phones it in. On the other hand this is a expertly directed movie with thrilling set pieces and Tom Cruise gives it his all.

Yeah he is entitled to think it is fun but he is a critic and in my opinion he gave a high score to a completey dull and unoriginal movie. Also I think the movie had boring set pieces that weren't fun. Not to mention Dwayne Johnson who I usually love is so boring and doesnt even try in that movie to give a fun performance. I just don't see how that movie could be more entertaining than this.

There are but that is such an odd guilty pleasure because there is hardly anything cool or fun about it. It isn't bad enough to be a so bad it's good either. It is completely and utterly forgettable at best and a unashamed copycat cashgrab at worst. Dwayne Johnson has so much potential as an action star but he chooses scripts like these for some odd reason.

Back in the 80's and 90's, Tom Cruise was a better actor, too. With the MI movies, he can make a lot of money and not have to stretch himself, dramatically. Also, he's a huge star, now, and any humility he had in past decades is gone. He has the power to get directors that will basically do things his way although a really good director will challenge the actor to get the best performance. And, in fairness, Cruise does do non-MI movies, occasionally. I rented "Edge of Tomorrow" not too long ago and I was quite pleasantly surprised by that. I really liked the film and Cruise turns in a good performance. Of course, his co-star is Emily Blunt, so how can he be bad? She definitely elevates it.

How in the world can anyone not follow the plot of this movie? It's absolutely simple and clear. Anything more complicated would've gotten in the way of the stunts. It's nowhere near as complicated as the last Bond film or the Bourne Ultimatum, and those were easy enough to follow. These movies are not nuclear science just because they have plutonium! Or is it too hard to simply use your brain when you watch the simplest movies ever made?

These guys are the most INCONSISTENT critics i have ever seen. I don't mind if they don't like something i liked, but the bullshit explanations are ridiculous and make no sense when you see them accept the same flaws in other films. They never seem to have any particular formulas that they follow in judging films, it just seems like their opinions vary depending on what day of the week it is. I haven't seen Skyscraper, but I agree with Alonso in that it does get a bit exhausting. It's soooo thrilling but I think it was lacking in more quiet moments, which allow you time to breathe. That said, it's a terrific movie from start to finish. It's a true blockbuster and the execution is perfect.

I like Henry Cavill. I do. But it's something about him on film playing an American. His accent itself isn't "bad", but he literally cannot really speak above a standard tone (actually a bit more than a whisper) before it starts to sound...weird. He can't oscillate the volume (especially high volume) with out "losing" the accent a bit. Hollywood, just let the man be British.
