I agree. I never met my biological dad and didn’t know that my dad that raised me wasn’t my biological dad. When I found out, my parents were so scared I would be upset, but I wasn’t at all. It doesn’t matter to me at all who my biological dad is because he isn’t the one who’s been in my life the entire time.

When my oldest turned ten, she sat on my husband's lap and we told her he was not her biological father. She wanted to know so we explained her bio dad had not been very good to either of us (a fact my husband could back because he knew me when) and that I chose to walk away rather than let him treat us badly. I asked if she wanted to meet him and her siblings. She hugged my husband and said "I already have a Daddy that loves me. I'm good." My husband cried.

@Jacky Phantom I didn't think about that, but you're absolutely right. There is no such thing as Cuban DNA. There are no doubt many Cubans whose DNA is 100% European. But we can appreciate the scenario although it really isn't accurate about the DNA stuff. Scenario: Through DNA testing, the child has learned/is about to learn that her father isn't her biological father. You're listening one table away: What would you do?
@WonderWhatHappened
@WonderWhatHappened 5 жыл бұрын

My dad isn't my biological father and I found out when I was about 10 but I am so grateful for him because I'm almost 21 and he has been there for me 24/7 since i was about 18 months old. From taking me to a&e when I trapped my finger in a door when I was a toddler, to rubbing my back, buying me chocolate and pads and giving me cuddles when I got my first period, to being there for me all the time when my biological father made me feel worthless. As an adopted child, I feel like biological relationships mean nothing. To be upset about finding out or being told is just a weird reaction to me. If your adopted or unbiological family made the decision to raise you and love you, that means they are as much of family as blood.

I'm Norwegian, Eastern European, and Jewish. My aunt is some distant cousin, not my aunt. My dad and "aunt" were adopted. I have no idea who my birth grandparents were. I'm not upset about my heritage, I'm PROUD. What angers me are the lies. And why the crap did my mothers side lie?!? I'm none of their claimed heritage. I joined a couple adoption and family heritage research sites.
