I’m a teacher…this brought me to tears! I’m in Canada, we get paid a fair wage and supplies are provided. We have students who need shoes and clothes and even tooth brushes. Food is a problem for our kids and most of us keep snacks in our rooms. You can’t learn on an empty stomach. There is a lot of need in our world.

Don't believe everything you see on TV. Not many professions average $50K a year, work 6 - 9 months a year, from 8AM to 2PM sitting in an AC'd building, with weekends and holidays off.. Plus benefits, medical/dental, retirement and everything that comes with unions... It's one of the only jobs with tenure. Sounds like heaven compared to your average Nurse or Roofer..
@leonjulca Жыл бұрын
@@SaltNBattery You're funny. Sounds like you're actually the one who believes everything he sees/reads. Look, these stats you've listed appear good on paper, but in reality there are quite a few roadblocks/inaccess to them. Don't get me started on the unions. What a sad state of affairs.
@tmusa2002 Жыл бұрын
This is dramatic. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen but it’s often because the teacher needs to plan ahead to get supplies and they come up with a special project and they think it’s worth spending for the not-pre-planned supplies. It’s very much school specific. Our school gives out stipends and our PTA gives each teacher extra supply money. There are always wealthy families or local businesses donating for supplies for those in need (and every retailer does the same) and it’s just not like this sounds. Just like you hear that teachers work all summer. Yeah, hey, we see your Facebook posts. You love your summers off. I don’t blame you for that either. That’s part of the benefit and partly why your pay looks like it’s less than some other jobs. It’s the griping that gets old. If I had to buy my own supplies instead of food at my job…. that would last about a week, but as you see, they don’t job hunt. It’s not a bad gig. That lady will have a sweet pension to live on soon enough.
@KittenBowl1 Жыл бұрын
I lived in Canada for ages and went through the education system of Canada. While teachers are paid more than adequate, it’s true that many kids are hungry and don’t have enough to eat. But no teachers I’ve ever met in my life provided any snacks or food for kids in public schools. Poor kids just go hungry and don’t eat lunches. I’ve seen many kids like this, of course in public schools. I’ve gone to private schools as well. And they drive expensive cars and their father is a lawyer, doctor, or C-level…yeah even in Canada where we had to pay 40-50% income tax, the kids in Canada go hungry. What a broken society. That’s why I left. It’s not that different from Eastern Europe of how poor the country and the society in general is unfortunately.

You teachers are just greedy and want to live large on a teaches salary. I think police and fire fighters and doctors are the one's who deserve higher pay not a teacher who reads books to kids.

Think about this for your soul. Do you think your a Good person? Ask yourself have you lied? Have you used God's wonderful name in vain? Have you looked with lust? Have you hated anyone? If you answered honestly and said yes to these then you and me are a lying blasphomous adulterer at heart and murderer at heart. God requires perfection in thought word and deed and we are not perfect. God originally made us perfect but we disobeyed him. That's why we die, The wages of sin is death. Death is the biggest evidence that God is serious about sin but we tend to put death off until it hits us in the face. We are tormented by our mortality but we don't have to be. Jesus Christ lived a sinless perfect life and died on the cross so you can be reconciled to God. All you need to do is repent and trust in Christ. Humble yourself before God and ask for forgiveness and forsake your sins. I was addicted to weed and I loved partying and snorting coke. It was a lifestyle I loved but God got through to me via a youtube video and he should me that the world and people aren't basically Good. Yes we do good actions sometimes but our Good deeds are like filthy rags to God unless we are in the body of Christ. Read John Chapter 3. Depression? Christ can remove this. Suicidal thoughts? Christ will remove these and give you reason and purpose to life. The devil is always trying to deceive people and the biggest deception is that death is the end. It is not. Once you are born again you know that God exists and you rejoice in that Knowledge. Once you have done that find a bible believing and preaching Church. In Jesus mighty name I pray.

She is much better than I....but she keeps praying for me :) As I'm randomly typing replies to comments....I keep seeing little alerts pop up saying there are replies. I'm so old and inept I don't even know how to track them or respond. so if you happen to respond, and I don't reply back.... it is not on purpose. Maybe I will figure it out. Anyway - just wanted to take a sec to say it was real since you took the time to comment. May God make us all better.

I was a high school biology teacher for seven years. Buying laboratory materials for 5 classes, each with up to 8 groups each was a huge expense (on top of typical stuff like paper, pencils etc). Glassware and most chemicals were provided by the department, but much of it came out of my own pocket. Easily thousands of dollars over the years. Was really disappointing when students would be careless or wasteful with materials. I just started letting them know I was buying it with my own money and thankfully, they became much more careful.
@isabellajackson17226 жыл бұрын
Bri Harvey I don’t mind answering. We have case studies every week where we pick a crime and we have to fill a worksheet out for the crime. We also do a lot of online lab simulations. We do a lot of labs, we’ve done about 6 so far; Berrillon Lab (body measurements) , Crime Scene lab (she made a fake crime scene and we had to map it out on graph paper, answer some questions and write how we would collect evidence), Tire Evidence Lab (we rolled the wheels of toy cars in ink and printed them on paper and we had to match the treads to the car that did the crime), Teethmark lab (imprinted our teeth), and a footwear impression lab where we had kids shoes and had to cast their footprint and we collected some footprints outside.

It is so heartbreaking to see how little teachers get paid in the US and that they have to get their own supplies. I am glad people are willing to help out. In Germany in most state's teachers are government employees that have life long job security, get a good pay and get a good pension.

Don't believe everything you see on TV. Not many professions average $50K a year, work 6 - 9 months a year, from 8AM to 2PM sitting in an AC'd building, with weekends and holidays off.. Plus benefits, medical/dental, retirement and everything that comes with unions... It's also one of the only jobs with tenure. When you calculate it, they're certainly not underpaid for the hours they work in a year and the benefits they receieve. Sounds like heaven compared to your average Nurse or Roofer..
@genxx27242 жыл бұрын
Teacher pay in the U.S. varies by school district. They make decent money, and have all the benefits you named. The problems are the unreasonable and constantly-changing demands of the administration, and lack of respect from admin, parents, and students. Also, the school districts should be buying all the supplies for the elementary schools. Teachers and parents should not have to buy anything.

The person in the 1st clip is my mom. I just read the first few scrolls of comments, and stopped. I caught this b/c I was sending a text to a couple of my friends who wanted to see the episode. Scrolling through, it was a lot of people that think this was scripted. I could say it is a waste of time to comment because I'm older, and don't know how "trolls" work or whatever professional mean people online are called these days ....but I don't think this message will necessarily reach only the naysayers. The interaction was completely real. My mom is not an actress. She spoke from her heart. She truly believes that God would want her to love her neighbor and help them. I pray for any of the naysayers....maybe you were joking on your comments to get attention, or maybe you don't believe that people actually exist in the world that want to help their "brothers and sisters" in Christ, by that, I mean in this world....and worst, maybe no one has ever offered to help you with no ulterior motives.. Regardless....just wanted to throw out there that this was real, not scripted. I also want to say I'm very thankful to have my mom, who encourages us nonjudgementally, and with patience. She mainly uses the persuasion of prayer b/c some of us have bucked her so much. So anyway...this was real, not scripted. For the record, this is the first comment I have ever sent on youtube (I think)....though my kids are begging to make their own youtube channel. May we continue to encourage each other, and seek a better relationship with the Lord. May God continue to have a presence in our lives, even when we don't acknowledge He is there.

I believe this show is genuine. There are too many authentic responses for it to be feigned. It is scripted on the actors' behalf, that is the intention.

Teachers don't deserve all the things they have to deal with. Bratty kids, being underpayed, unvalued, using their money for their job, and school shootings. I respect them so much, i couldn't imagine taking on such a job. They must love it a lot to deal with all thats thrown at them

This reminds me of my art classes I took in highschool. I only had 2 different teachers during those 4 years and BOTH spent so much money on supplies. Especially my fashion design teacher, I took her for 3 years and she was buying good brands of markers, colored pencils, etc. She spent hundreds of dollars each semester on supplies. When a sewing machine would break, she would have to buy a new one because it wasn't in the "schools budget" (thankfully this only happened twice) every Spring she was part of the costume workshop for the musical, and she would buy fabric for us to make the clothes needed. Generally we only made stuff for the leads, and everyone else brought stuff in that we just kinda worked on to fit for what it was needed. It just always broke my heart cause art supplies are not cheap. I could tell she stressed a lot.
