I've been sick as a dog and finally was able to complete sentences.
I go through the whole episode and weigh in on the events taking place. Its a long one, so if you sit through it, let me know what you think!

On shields: If you tie them off, you give a hard point to attack and destroy the shield. It must always be maintained so the points remain soft. (Lord of Chaos)

A tied-off shield is more dangerous b/c it provides knots to break out of. A continuously maintained shield, by contrast, creates a smooth surface with no "knots" to break through. This is what we gain from Rand's POV while in the box.

Yeah I remember that part from LOC. What I was thinking is the act of shielding them, being harder than keeping them shielded. She says keeping someone shielded is harder than shielding, but I feel like most of the POVs we get of someone getting shielded, if they see it coming and fight it, usually they can avoid it. But if they get caught off guard and shielded, they're pretty much out of luck. I had a realization though. Maybe in this case it's because they caught him sleeping, so he couldn't fight being shielded really. So in this specific case, shielding him WAS easier than keeping him shielded

Re: the shield, you are correct it is harder to break one than to hold one, (you need to be far stronger in the power). However, she was probably referring to the fact that they have to shield him constantly which is exhausting, while he only has to break it once.

I don't think you're over thinking Egwene and the blanket. I definitely thought it was a character building choice too. Considering how much subtle foreshadowing they have already done, I don't think anything you see on camera is a mistake or an accident.

I'm sure I missed dozens if things already. I try not to call out too much I do see, because sometimes saying something is foreshadowing can toe the line with spoilers.

@@Kevinbaconator_ There some foreshadowing you can say becuase non one would know what it means (like Mats hand in the dream) But there is other foreshadowing that if you say definitely would be a spoiler. Like [SPOILERS AHEAD - NON READER STOP HERE] where the camera is pointed during different parts of Moiraines manetheren speech. That camera gives away so damn much!😂

In the books, the movements with your hands depend on who taught you and there are men and women that move while there are men and women that don't move a muscle. The aiel wise ones for example make fun of Moiraine for her movements during channeling.

Notice in the dream sequence Mat & Perrin are oblivious of Rands presence .. Egwayne calls out to Rand and you get the sense the two are aware of each other in this dream sequence..

It is interesting how Marianne said she didn't know if Logain was the DR because of what she felt with Egwene. She must have been commenting on the possibility of Egwene's powers rather than where they stand currently. Otherwise how can you even compare the two? One is at the "prime" of his channeling abilities and the other has *potentially* only scratched the surface. Though, I guess inherent power is different than ability to hone and utilize that power. Idk. Either way...Marianne did a real quick 180 from idk maybe Logain is the DR to "you can't hold his jockstrap." Good breakdown. Good episode. Good series.

Thanks for the nice review. On the shielding issue: The comperative strenght is important. If women shielding women two are enough to hold even very strong ones, with women shielding men you need six to be on the save side... at least thats what I remember :D

I see what you're saying. I'm thinking there was probably more sisters involved in the initial shielding in this case, so it WAS easier, than now when it's just two holding it. In the series it would take more than 6 to shield a strong male channeler, but 6 were able to keep they/them at bay. I guess we'll see

13 makes an unbreakable shield (regardless of strength levels), 6 makes an incredibly strong shield (only the DR is able to break a 6 woman shield in the books). The White Tower traditionally uses 6 Aes Sedai to keep up a shield in situations like this in the books, however its suggested in the show that they don't always and are surprised by Logain's strength levels, (he's able to break through a double shield held by 2 of their most powerful pretty easily). Nynaeve is able to shield Logain by herself in the books however.
