Wheel Stand DD - A Wheel Stand Fit For A Direct Drive Wheel

Direct Drive Wheels deliver some massive force feedback power. I am often asked if certain sim chassis are strong enough for a direct drive wheel.. The answer is NOT always yes.
Next Level Racing has now introduced the Wheel Stand DD, a portable, relatively inexpensive entry level wheel stand that is strong enough to hold a direct drive wheel. The wheel stand DD is $299 and will be expandable into a full rig with the addition of the seat mod also by NL Racing.
Here is the full review of the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand DD. Following our assembly and un boxing video we have put this stand through the paces. It has been run with some very heavy duty sim gear and used as hard as can be done. After this testing we have formulated our opinion of this wheel stand and can answer the question of if it works with a Direct Drive wheel.
Next Level Racing has built up an nice lineup of products dedicated to sim racers and flight sim enthusiasts around the world. With each model year they develop better product including motion platforms for the die hard sim racer.
Next Level Racing has also increased their lineup of entry level product and each year those selections get better as well.
This year at E3 they launched their new Wheel Stand Racer. And affordable wheel stand that can be upgraded later into a full sim chassis. Coming in at only $119 it is one of the least expensive options for sim racing other than bolting a wheel to a desk. The Wheel stand racer is also very adjustable offering a good driving position for most people.

How is this wheel stand working for you. I am buying a dd1 and don't have the money for a full-blown rig I am interested to know how much if any flex there is with this stand do you have any complaints should I save my money and buy a rig for a grand or will this really work? @@dominickescobedo7777 There is some flex, going over kerbs . I run my ffb at 55, right side of stand wobbles sometimes, but overall it's a great stand. I am moving on to 80/20 rig . I hate to say this but at the price they have it for 299.00 I feel like It's over priced. I would save ur money for something else. I like next level but the price should be a little lower. Really have no complaints, really have to have ffb high for stand to wobble on right, otherwise it's a great stand

Thanks for the review. I saw this stand, and was waiting for someone to do a review on it. I currently have the Wheelstand Pro with my G27, but I'm looking towards getting the Playstation Podium DD down the road. I live in an apartment and have limited space, so a full rig is out of the question.

Nice review Shaun. I'm using the older Next Level stand. I'm space limited so I just slide it out of my way when not using it. Works great with my Fanatec CSL setup. It sounds like this is for people in similar situation to me.

I also have older stand with t300, and its solid., puts me off getting a dd, if I also have to buy another stand . I've no room for a permanent rig so I like the fact the old one folds

That belt solution...How did I not think of that before. Will definitely give it a try. Couldn't that also work against (somewhat) against swiveling of an office chair if you put the belts at the arm-rest.

Your mom called and said she wants her chair back NOW im definitely buying this wheel stand it's awesome i got a sweet gaming chair that i removed the arms on it will be perfect for my setup i got my dd on a cheap wheel stand it had to be ratchet straps to my desk or be thrown around by my DD wheel

That mount for the shifter/handrbake is a bit disappointing. They could combat that wiggle by adding a bar from the plate to the frame. Only entering the rig from one side so nothing to lose.

Ha, I dig the belt strap solution. IIRC the rig comes with it's own chair retention system now? Just a tray that sits on the ground that you can place legs or casters into to hold the chair in place.

Im definitely getting NLR WS 2.0 it solves all my problems and bi its $249 and so much better than my current stand that gets tossed a RT ound by my Moza DD my G29 tossed it and tipped around and this be NLR stand 2.0 has a mechanism to hold your chair in place im sorry excited ordering mine in 2 weeks no questions asked

how would you compared the Wheel Stand 2.0 to this one? to me they look identical but the 2.0 is foldable, is one stiffer/more rigged than the other or both the same either way? theres also a $50 difference between them

Hey Shaun! Great review! Im looking at picking up the Moza R9 + CS Wheel plus the Simforge Mark1 pedals (80kg loadcell). I was just wondering whether the stand would handle the gear. Also, would you happen to know if the mounting holes would accomodate the gear? This stand is a bit on the expensive side here in India when compared to some of the local brands so would this be overkill for the gear Im looking at picking up? The stand will be good enough for the equipment you'll have. The Simforge pedals have the same pattern as the Heusinkveld pedals and should bolt on to the pedal tray.

Missing a chair holder, where the front legs could be seated into to keep the chair from sliding. Other wheel stands have this tray that keeps the chair from sliding.

Thanks for the review, I just ordered the Gran Turismo DD Pro, and debating which stand to get. This DD Stand, or the 2.0 both by next level racing. My wheelstandpro has done its job over the years with my G29, but its time for a legit upgrade all around.

I just ordered the GT DD Pro too. I have been thinking about this one or the 2.0. Both seem really good. Seems either one will do the job great. And being able to upgrade to full chassis later is great.

Yes, some dude did a test with 100% Force Feedback with a DD1 with 20Nm, just search for it on YT

That is actually a great wheel stand. I don't get where this guy thinks it is wobbly. All of them move. The hand brake you have is way over the top, of course it will move it. I have a rig and the front half is wobbly up and down, plus it limits me for my pedals. I am very interested in getting one. I can unbolt my rear half, run some strapping to tie the two halves together and my rear half has a great shifter mount for my H pattern, I could mount my sequential on that shifter bar, toss a strapping on it if needed and have a great FrankenRig. I will talk to you and see if we could do a deal... Or I will just order one.

Nice review as always Shaun. But, I am not really convinced the company is serious about shi being meant for anyone with DD. With a DD, but not enough space sounds like a very niche segment.

Gt omega has less movement and less flex you wouldnt think that but it does it with the fnastec dd2 was anle to withstand the 20nm with almost no flex with the dd2 test at 100 percent they literally told him to test it with a dd wheel so the gt omega apex is also or can also be a dd wheelstand and its only 139.99 compared to the next level racing at 299.99
