It's certainly not the view I hold (and many others I know, again thats not to say theres not others that agree with you) and my first XR6T was one of the first ever made (BA Xr6T Nov 02' 2002) Before and after that one I have had 8's (VT SS and now a VE SS) My biggest regret was selling the XR6T which I had to at the time due to losing my job and still renting at the time. Unfortunately, I wasn't patient when I was finically back on my feet and in the market for a low km black or blue XR6T or/or Typhoon so after only 1 month of looking a saw a low km VE SS in black and went with that. It's a great car, really is. However, I regret not waiting (this was about 4 years ago.. so around 2020) Now I am waiting until (hopefully) a low km XR6T (Not fussed on model either an FG or BA S2 -not likely to have low km's) comes around and I will jump on it while there's still time.

Biggest problem with the 32-valve 5.4 is that they don't produce enough low-end torque; similar to the old 4V Clevos. (The 3-valve 5.4s are actually better in this regard) Don't chase kW; chase Nm. These things can be monsters with a properly set up Eaton-style twin screw S/C - think 2005/06 Ford GT or early 2000's F-150 Lightning. Seen a lot of these fitted with a Paxton, or similar, centrifugal blower - these may give you a nice top-end boost (kW), but you already have that, plus, where can you use it....? That style of blower works better on Windsors that need the lungs at high RPM. Torque wins at the lights - HP wins down Conrod Straight....simple.
@leaithhoughton18624 ай бұрын
I have got around this my 03 GTP, making 520nm from 2200rpm. 392rwhp at 5200rpm. This is still needing a tune as well, it will be good to have a 400+rwhp 03 GTP 290 Should surprise a few people
@overlord5066Ай бұрын
I'd love a top mount blower, no doubt it'd make a completely different beast but the sidemounts aren't all that bad, bang for buck. The Vortech on my 260 was pushing out a bit under ~500nm at 2500rpm (making 710nm at 5000nm) with only 315rwkw total (or 422hp) at 8psi. That was with no extractors (just cat back), injectors/pump and a hot intake (no charge cooler). Its booked to head back to the dyno soon (with W2A intercooler, adjustable fuel, few other bolt on tid bits that should help), shooting for somewhere up near 380rwkw, no idea where the torque will land though. Definitely still added heaps down load even if its not snapping to full boost off the line Plus i snagged the kit near new second hand (eff all km's on the headunit), did all the work my self aside from tuning. Only in the hole for about $4k total so far lol

This is really cool. It's a damn shame that both GMH and Ford decided to shut up shop in Australia. Largely due to a change in govt policy and the fact that sales were declining for these big Aussie cars. In my opinion theses cars (both Holden and Ford) were very competent offerings and I think compared well to most other cars in any other country you could think of. Leaving a particularly sour taste was Holden shutting down local manufacture, substituting the locally made Commodore for an Opel built in France and trying to continue like it was business as usual. Same engine was in the F150, that's why it sounds so similar 😁

And slow as hell, the 4.6 4v was much better but ford aus picked the cubes, and took them to long to go to coyotes

F150 bottom end, Mustang Cobra R top end, if nothing else you won't break this engine.

Cams but stock extractors and cats??? You should have just done 4.11s instead of cams

You are better if getting a Barra turbo aka xr6 turbo you would make more money if you bought the right one and make better power easier with less cost compared to a xr8, the ford V8s are pretty gutless to be honest especially compared to most Holden V8s.
