Great review Dave. I made the same switch that you did. No more Go Pro Hero 10 and goodbye crashes. I now run the RS on my handlebars as my selfie and forward looking camera, the 1X2 in various spots around my bike. And the DJI action 2 from the chin of my helmet.. The best part is that I can say " Start Recording" and they all start recording at the same time. You didn't mention the 6k option on the new "boost" lens. Still looking for the best time to use that mode. Love the vids, keep 'em coming. G

I'm considering going to an off-camera 6-track audio recorder. Have you tried doing this? BTW, the Action 2 on my chin mount has a wider view at 155 degrees. Hands and half my arms are in POV. Thx
@WheelieGoodTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg, sorry I haven’t responded sooner but I just read your message. I didn’t bother even mentioning the 6K mode as it’s a bit of a gimmick tbh especially with the fake widescreen letterbox. I love the idea of voice control over the cameras but I had huge trouble with this and the one x2 as the camera kept crashing out of record when I was vlogging because it would recognise certain words!🤣🤣 It took me ages to figure out why this was happening before I eventually disabled ‘voice command’.

Another superbly informative vlog Dave! Thanks. 1 question...I'm not happy with the editing software on my gopro Max 360, and freezing/overheating etc etc... so for purely 360 video, should I go 3601x2 or this 1rs with the 360 lens...I'm confused?
@WheelieGoodTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, If you want purely 360 footage I would choose the One X2 over the One RS as the picture and stitching is definitely better. However, if you want the option of 360 footage as well as normal action cam footage then choose the One RS Twin edition which comes with both lens modules. Hope that makes sense. Cheers

If you’re not having problems with your hero 10 then keep it. The picture from the 10 is definitely slightly better than the one RS but not enough to warrant all the problems I was having with mine. Some people have no problems at all with their 10’s.👍🎥

great video. The audio is definitely different compared to the gopro. which one sounds better, this is very subjective, depending on what people would prefer. Because of being able to adjust the gain levels, I find this to be closer to the quality of an external recorder, where the focus is on the voice, whilst everything else is not as loud, in this case the exhaust/engine, which is good. But I know some might prefer to hear more of the exhaust. I think i prefer option one.
@WheelieGoodTV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex, good observations there and yes a fair point about different people might prefer more engine note.

@@WheelieGoodTV Shame the onboard audio its quite bad, it should've been even better considering they've added an extra mic. when motovlogging, sometimes its nice to just record something directly without using an external mic, maybe they'll fix this in a future firmware update?!

Hi there, thank you for review, it helps a lot because I am ordering a One RS for my dual sport/trail ridings (you’re reviews finally convinced me since I prefer the 360 option, thank you 😊). Can you tell me a little about the nd filter you speak of? I noticed with other reviews comparing gp10 to the One RS, the RS has a bit of a magenta tint compared to the gp. Would nd (or other) filters on the RS help neutralize those image to look less reddish and more natural (not sure what nd’s do)? Do they make filters that can slip over the 4k boost lens? I’m guessing I’ll have to fix in post for the 360 vids but it would have been easier if I can get rid of the magenta beforehand. I would prefer a lens over fixing the footage in post as it will serve double duty by protecting the original lens from getting scratched for debris that flies up (sand particles, mud, leaves, riders flying off their bikes in front of me, etc). Thanks
@WheelieGoodTV Жыл бұрын
Hi. The ND won’t shift your colour I’m afraid but what they do is allow you to control your shutter speed in order to get cinematic smooth motion especially if you’re riding on a motorbike it has a slight blur effect for want of a better phrase on the background like trees and the road. It stops the footage looking choppy and pixelated. You can get a clear filter to protect your lens if you don’t want to go down the ND route but don’t use the plastic underwater housing type as that really degraded the image. Use glass filters. If you’re really concerned about the colour shift why not try shooting in LOG mode and grade it in post?🤔

Cheers for this video Dave, I’ve just bought the camera and the Manfrotto clamp through your links👍 I’ve been considering a 360 camera for a while now and you’ve pushed me over the edge! My Hero 8 can be demoted to less critical duties. The thing I feel that I have never got right to my satisfaction is audio, it’s a black art! I have recently been using the Rode Go2, but it is too sensitive for motovlogging, picks up too much wind noise, even with a dead cat on and clips constantly. The best I have had audio-wise is a Zoom H1N, but it is a bit of a pain to use. Hopefully this Insta will be another viable option. Anyway, I’m rambling! Cheers for the informative vid, I really like your channel - watched from the start - enjoy the kickback from Insta!👍

Great video. My question to you is, If you use the Mic adapter, plug the helmet mic into it, and have a battery bank or constant power plugged in, will this still be waterproof and be able to be used while riding in a downpour for hours? or is it now not waterproof anymore? I want to get rid of the gopros and run the 360 on my handlebars to change views between facing forward and facing me in my videos and run a cable to it or use an external recorder.

Good question. I’ve been caught in some torrential rain recently using this exact setup and it has been perfectly ok but I do make sure to dry everything on a radiator overnight. I can’t guarantee it will always be okay but so far so good as the wind seems to deflect the rain off the camera housing therefore not allowing to sit long enough to find a way in. It’s not ideal but like I say, so far so good. 👍🏍

For MotoVlogging One RS vs X2 which would be more suitable without loss of audio or video as well as run a LONG time with External Power Source Either Vehicle socket or Battery Bank/s? Also Does the One X2 have an Audio cum Charge Clip on as the One RS for simultaneous charge on the move and External Wireless or wired Lavalier mic? Another Tiny Doubt If Only wired mic used from a Wireless Kit then the Noise Cancellation Function will be Lost right? Or Does the One RS/X2 have noise cancellation settings on them in say the Gain that you mentioned? Other than the stitching line issue in Lower light which has the better if not Best Video Clarity on the move where even Registration Plates are clearly legible not just visible in Frame? I know you said you don't leave the camera running and tend to start/stop it recording as and when you need it, but have you tried a continuous recording over time? On the other Insta360 cameras, when it splits the files up on long recordings, there is a gap of up to a minute sometimes between the recordings so you lose footage, which doesn't happen on the GoPro cameras, does the One RS suffer the same? Interesting review Dave, am glad you are happier with this than you were with the GoPro cameras.
