I did Intermittent Fasting several months ago and I'm STILL DOING IT (more or less). My parents decided to give it a try because they think they're better than me!!!! Or ya know, just want to be healthy and stuff. Thanks to DoFasting for sponsoring. I wish I would have known about this useful app when I was doing this originally. I've been doing IF since late November, and aside from a few days when I was sick and it threw off my whole day, it's pretty much become just as normal to me as eating when I first woke up used to be. It's kind of amazing how quickly our bodies can adjust to change.

Metabolism is said to be at an all time high so the theory is to eat at that time in the morning but honeslty.. It used to piss me off for the se reason.. Id be hungry two minutes later no mater what I ate.. I now see it as clean up time.. If I ignore the initial hunger and just fill up on alkaline water and tea first thing then go exercise and deep, breathe.... After awhile I didn't feel that hunger.. And i have to wonder if that hunger was really dehydration

Just wanted to say that your IF video got me to start IF and start getting more conscious about food. Lost 10kg, went under the obesity BMI, and felt better than I have in years. Now I'm working on cutting out (well, drastically reducing) processed meats. So thanks for helping me get more healthy and feel better :)

10 kg in how much time?
@connorhillen
@connorhillen 4 жыл бұрын
@@LaTrefle it's a little tough to be precise. Before IF I would fluctuate by 1-2kg regularly, but now I'm very consistent. I think about 6kg the first month, 4kg the next month, then it stayed the same for a while and just started dropping again. So about 10kg in two months, mayyybe two and a bit months? Tough to say precisely, I wasn't super hopeful for actual weight loss, I was just doing it to feel a bit better and try it out, and didn't track much at the start.

@@Dixxi91 6 months later just generally eating healthier, cutting alcohol, and following a 16:8 for 6/7 days a week, I'm down over 25kg and at a healthy weight! Seems like not much muscle loss either. The reason I'd recommend against pairing is that IF was so simple, so little adjustment to habits, that it just became normal. It actually made life easier, because there were fewer hours to consider eating, and it became easier to analyze what I was having through the day. Moving to a drastically different diet (cutting carbs, whole new cuisine) is a massive investment that you probably won't do *for the rest of your life* leading to inevitable rebounds for many people. Instead, I found something that actually made me work less, gave me more time in my day, and just generally became a happy part of my life.

Remember the old saying that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day"... Well, there's some truth to that. It's not that it's important to eat first thing in the morning but it IS very important how you choose to BREAK your FAST. You really want to be breaking your fast with a clean and lean protein and avoiding junk carbs (like donuts!) at least as your first meal, otherwise you are defeating the object of fasting in the first place. An hour or so after your 'break-fast' meal you can enjoy more or less what you like.

Breakfast probably has a lot to do with farming culture where men would wake up super early (4am) to do hard labor and then come back and eat a ton of food after sunrise. Maybe?? Hmm. Food for thought... (Also Dr. Berg has immense information on his channel about intermittent fasting, it's quite... "fast-inating" 😏)

Just subscribed to your channel. Love your videos, they're so informative and funny at the same time! Here's my experience with intermittent fasting, namely the DoFasting app. My backstory: I have been struggling with my weight my entire life. When my Dr suggested I try intermittent fasting I searched for an app that could help. That's how I found DoFasting. It may be a simple thing but I like that there is a countdown clock for fasting and eating periods. I don't have to worry about what to eat, since you also get a meal plan with the app. I’ve been using it for less than a month but I find it fun and motivating. The fact that it has meals and exercises is a nice bonus, I mainly use the meal part when I’m short on ideas on what to cook.

Currently in my second month of intermittent fasting. Been doing a 14/10 routine, with one day a week of no food. It's honestly been life-changing in understanding how much I just overeat for no reason at all. Been also just choosing better food overall automatically. I feel like eating something that's low in nutrient is just a waste right now, gotta eat something more substantial to survive the fasts. Been really helpful. Also I've lost around 8lbs, and hoping to keep going.

This was informative and hilarious. The epic reenactment was gold. 😂 I’ve discussed my dad trying this; he’s very stressed (my mom has cancer) and he’s very busy with work, so he kind of balks at health stuff that requires time. He’s doing charts until about an hour before bed. He can’t just add an hour of exercise several times a week, not without something else not being done. But this... this can help him with his weight and relationship with food (no more distracting himself and self-soothing by eating) with no added commitment of time. So this was perfect timing! I’m definitely showing him both videos.

I've been eating this way my entire life. I'm fat and have been told my entire life that this is an unhealthy way to eat. No breakfast, "You're supposed to eat lots of little meals!", etc. You see, when a health nut does something, it's a trendy way to feel better and more aware of your chakras and crap like that. When a fat guy does the same thing, it's unhealthy.

i totally get where you're coming from. the truth is, at least from what I've gleaned from videos like these and the bit of reading I've done, nutrition science is...constantly changing. i don't think anyone knows what's "best", and people/researchers will follow trends and find facts to back up the trends. people will be very vocal about what works for them. small meals every couple hours will supposedly keep your metabolism running faster throughout the day. intermittent fasting will lower insulin levels, stimulating fat loss. both plans have drawbacks and benefits. when it comes down to it, find what makes sense and is sustainable to your brain and body. if you're looking to lose weight and naturally intermittently fasting hasn't done that for you, you're simply eating more than your body needs during your eating window. weight change comes down to calories consumed vs calories burned through metabolic rate and exercise, no matter what form it comes in. (sorry for the incredibly long reply)

I've always been naturally thin, but I almost got on the overweight side when I was in high school because in the middle east, people show love by forcing you to eat 🙄I had to reteach myself as an adult when I was full and not to eat past that and I lost 20 pounds over the years without trying (I just tried not to eat past being full, I never really made any active effort to lose any weight). Now that I'm married, it's been a struggle not to let my mother-in-law guilt me into overeating. I know she does it out of love, like all middle easterns, but it's not healthy and there's only so many times I can say no thank you without feeling guilty.

Also stopped consuming flour of any kind (bread, cakes, etc), no candies, no sodas (Except the occasional coke zero, and the obligatory mineral water), I don't drink alcohol much anyways so that wasn't a problem, sugar was mostly consumed from fruit ( 1/4 of a fresh pineapple every other day, and a few bananas), I have a mushroom farm nearby, so I stocked up on those, also a lot of lean meat ( pork, beef, chicken). Struggled for the first 2 weeks a bit, after that I felt A mazing. Calorie count per day was around 1650-1700. Lost 12 lbs. Will continue. Also, when I hit my goal weight I will up the calories to 2000 to maintain weight. Thanks for the wholesome content

I’ve been working up to this over the course of a month and it’s amazing how much my thoughts and feelings about food have changed. I enjoy not eating, I love how I feel and love trying out different herbal teas. Then when I DO eat I really enjoy it! I feel a lot less guilty- I’ve been enjoying eating more fruits and vegetables and protein. Also if there’s something I’m obsessing over I can eat that without totally screwing up my goals if I wait to eat it until my eating window. I’m going for more of an OMAD approach- just seems to work the best for me!

I started IF from watching this here video with your awesome folks! Can you believe it. Then found Gin Stephens and her book Delay, Don’t Deny and her podcast Intermittent Fasting Stories. I am hooked for life. Wanted to say thank you to your parents and to you for doing this. I had never paid any attention to IF before. I have already (5 weeks in) lost 4 kgs (8,9 pounds) and am stoked about it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Peace out. And keep doing these awesome videos. ❤️

This was interesting. I love your folks. I have been trying to adjust my sleep /wake cycle as it's been messed up for awhile. I am conscious really early..but not in active mode until about 9am..I eat something around 10 or 11am...then not again until I watch Jeopardy later... and I don't really hunger. weird. I have lost a few pounds..but the trick is to keep it off. I let my stomache tell me when it's hungry or full..and I listen.

Honestly, best way to get rid of sugar is just rip off the bandaid. Stop eating it. It sucks for a few weeks, but it gets better. Cutting down on sugar didn't work for me, it's too easy to still overdo it. Also, I feel like IF helps too. Hard and fast rules are easier to live by than vague ones like "cutting back"

Trust me when I say I was a hard core sugar addict, as well as heavy drinker, I got sick of being sick/tired. Going keto combined with intermittent fasting is the best thing I’ve done for my mental health/physical health.

Just to get you thinking a little bit more about this - I found with doing IF that my hunger signals followed my habits rather than the other way around. When I stopped eating breakfast, I quit getting hungry in the mornings. Then when I took it further and stopped eating lunch, I stopped getting hungry at lunch time. Now I do OMAD (One Meal A Day) and I feel no hunger until it's getting close to the time I normally eat dinner. It completely flips on its head the old adage of "Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full." You can train your brain's hunger signals to only occur when you normally eat!
