Whelen Emergency Corridor/Split Flash Pattern - Legacy Lightbar, FST & flashers |Programmable Option

Whelen's programmable lighting systems offer plenty of interesting solutions and options for all kinds of issues you may face. In this video we're showing one custom made option - our emergency corridor flash pattern. Several countries require drivers to create an open lane for emergency vehicles in case of traffic jams on multi-lane (2+) freeways. We came up with this custom pattern since emergency services regularly face problems with drivers who don't move over to form that required corridor. The purpose of this flash pattern is not just for the usual warning while responding through that corridor but also to remind drivers to form and keep the corridor wide open.
Do you want to have this on your emergency vehicle? These are some options so that you can create this as well:
- Any Whelen lightbar with the WeCan option that allows you to program flash patterns of the lightbar.
- Smart Logic in case you're just using flashers like the Whelen M-series or ION-T.
- Carbide or Core if you want to synchronize the lightbar (with WeCan) with additional flashers like we did (we're using the Carbide on our Ford Ranger demo unit).
In the Whelen Command software there are several options and ways how you can create an emergency corridor or a simple split (traffic advisor) pattern.
Since we want the main attention on the lightbar we have not used all the lights for this pattern. We were using the Whelen Legacy* lightbar as well as the Inner FST as an interior lightbar and 2 Vertex* on the mirrors as well as another 4 Vertex in the rear.
We set some of the side lighting (ION-T*, StipLite Plus and Vertex) to Single Flash 300.
* = R65 for our German market (and the EU market)
