Great video,as Barbadian from the island of Barbados (that's in the Caribbean and not located in Jamaica) I had the pleasure of seeing Usain run at 15 years at the Central American and Caribbean games. What many people won't know was the fact that as a volunteer equipment manager I was track side watching as Usain strolled effortlessly over the line in a four hundred meter, beating his competitors by about fifty meters , with a tooth pick in his mouth...in around 47 seconds.

Its funny how people are looking for all the reasons for his supremacy now but at the time of his breakout the period of short squat sprinters was just coming to an end with Gatlin then Asafa Powells breakthrough and people used to always say that you needed to be built like Maurice greene to break records. The truth is he is more than just a collection of physical attributes and the amazing about speed is it can be found in packages of all shapes and sizes.
@B-Man-694 жыл бұрын
Exactly just look at Schillonie Calvert, one of the top female 4x100m relay sprinters. She stands at 4 feet 5 inches (135cm). Or Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce who is only 5 feet 2 inches but can run faster than most men. Then we have tall sprinters like Bolt, Asafa Powell, Justin Gatlin, etc. Speed is defined by your techniques and effort.

Seeing this just confirms what i have always suspected about Bolt anyway. It's truly his height/gait that is the *X factor* combined with getting at least the same 'turn over' as his peers, there is no way to logically or physically catch him!!! Proof of this is his inexperience at the age of 15, yet still being able to compete with 19 year olds. If he was a 5'11 or even a 6' person, at 15 with that same inexperience he would have been smoked by those 19 year olds.
@ludwigvanbeathoven-beatsmo82283 жыл бұрын
False. His brain/cerebellum is more efficiently wired and can deliver more energy per blood volume towards his neurons, increasing processing capacity and firing rate and fiber recrution capacity. The nervous system is the most limiting factor for speed.

In 2008 at the Beijing Olympic Games, Usain Bolt became the biggest thing that track and field had ever seen. And as we all know, his exploits a year later in Berlin - indeed, over the following decade, further consolidated his status. I can't see that position ever being taken from him. Not many sports people can be spoken of in the same breath as Muhammad Ali. Bolt is one of the very few. He is, without doubt, the GOAT of track and field.

During one's adolescent years, it is not really one's absolute age that affects one's athletic ability as much as one's stage of growth to adulthood.....some 15 year olds are physically like men but others are still boys.
