there was another story very recently that was almost just like this. a kind woman reported her neighbor whom she’d been suspicious of for a while. she’d noticed a dirty & downtrodden woman she’d never seen before in that man’s yard briefly. she’d also heard noises & her gut told her to just call. turns out, her neighbor had been holding a local woman hostage who’d been reported as missing. she was in… very bad shape, but alive. that woman saved someone that day with her gut feeling.

There's so much here... I'm amazed by how the police can conduct this interview and hold this discussion like this is all normal behaviour - including the follow-up questions. I know they're doing their job, but I'm still in awe of their ability to seem non-judgemental and keep people talking.

My theory of him lying about her wanting him to choke her is to displace responsibility onto his victim and thereby minimise any penalty he would face. It seems to be a popular excuse when sex is part of a murder but I don’t think it works legally. Anyway when he then went on to talk about his urges, that he had been wanting to see a psychiatrist, his thoughts of eating her and the fact that he did, the obsession with serial killers, the casual dismemberment.. these all pretty much call bullshit to the “Oops” strangulation claim.

Without her around to explain the black eye and sunglasses, risky behavior and alcoholism, lack of custody of the kids, depression and wanting to "speed things up." My theory is that black eye was from someone who paid to do it after a previous encounter that went similar (but a different ending) with a little hair twirl, talking within 2 inches, and then having no personal space.
