When Kristi starts talking about how dirty a human being is and how undeserving of love s/he is, but that God will give you that love anyway even though you don't deserve it... I felt that one. It's so sad that Christianity destroys people's self-worth.
@dabbler1166Ай бұрын
Think this over. What Kristi is against here (and so am I)...this is called: CALVINISM. People attack that, and think they are attacking or disproving Christianity. But iy may This very well be a "Straw Man". Because: It may not be REAL Christianity at all (and almost no one realizes this. Your church will very likely preach Calvinism and simply not tell you! Oh, if you specifically ask them: does this Church believe in Calvinism?...they may be shocked that YOU know, and asked) But-- Calvinism comes from John Calvin, who in his writings says he is OK with his own kids going to Hell if it were for God's Glory. He's the guy that believes you are a wretched sinner, worthy of Hell and therefore needing a savior and saved by the mercy and Grace of God. But-- Calvin got ALOT of his ideas from AUGUSTINE (approx.400AD) and Augustine himself, admits that in his own time, many many people DISagreed with him. So....what did true Christians believe BEFORE Augustine? Very good question. But people attack Calvinism, which may not be "the real deal" and think they've disproven Christianity. Learn about Pelagius. He may not 100% right, but i think he makes far more sense than Calvin. But the Catholics considered Pelagius a "heretic". Dont let others decide for you. READ.

you are worshiping a false god, a god who doesn't exist. You believe that a relationship with God will bring you only joy and peace. And that's true but with that comes a huge compromise with God. We as sinners are disgusting an incompatible with the nature of God. But even so He loves every people and try to approach you in many ways, but if you prefer to make a false God that fits your thoughts on how god should be, that my friend is not god but an empty idol you made. The one living and true God is merciful, but also punishes bad behaviors, he is also a consuming fire. And once you are sanctified and the Holy Spirit comes to you, things will not go that easy, problems, temptations and tests will follow more that ever, but if you trust in God over everything you will succeed, God will reward you if you follow His will, if not, He will punish you. You must deny yourself in order to met the one true God, and our savior Jesus. This is what’s called rebranding - “it’s not a religion, it’s a relationship” is the Christian equivalent of “it’s not a cookie, it’s fruit and cake.” The whole rebranding campaign was developed to compensate for the fact that we are living in a society that’s becoming increasingly secular as time goes by and religion becomes less and less relevant: they want to shed the negative imagery or religion that exists in the minds of many without changing their substance.

After a decade of imploring God for any sign, no matter small, that he was with me, it was especially galling to see pastors and other Christians casually talking about how God had spoken to them that morning, or how he had answered their prayer about some silly little trivial matter in their otherwise comfortable lives -- like their stalling car starting at the first attempt after praying. There are Christians who even relate the "conversations" they have with God on a daily basis. Do they never think of the millions of people who suffer incredible hardships and suffering without ever having a sniff of assistance or comfort despite their desperate prayers and pleas for help? Of course they don't, because it would burst the tiny little bubble they live in.

One person even said, well, I know this is probably going to come out badly, but maybe the people in other countries who don't have it as good as we do are so used to going without that it really isn't as big a deal to them as it would be for us. There are 100s KZbin apologetic channels for every single religion and cult under the sun. Every single one of them declares that their faith, and theirs alone, are a relationship and not a religion. Yet, when you get into the faith, all these rules show up . The God or Gods that you have this "relationship" with is suddenly interested in what I wear, what I eat, what I think, what I do, and who I sleep with. No religion is a relationship. It is all about controlling behavior.

I mean, what you're describing sounds like a relationship to me. A toxic one with an abusive partner that needs to be cut out of your life as soon as possible. Far too many people convince themselves, or are convinced by others, that that level of scrutiny over everything you do and everywhere you go is in any way normal or expected or part of how a relationship _should_ be, but WOW is it not. It is, as you say, all about controlling behavior. And people like that do not like to be controlled in turn. There is no reciprocation, only you bending to their every whim. The most you'll get in return is them _saying_ they love you, but none of their actions will reflect that in the least. And somehow, with no intent on my part, my description still works surprisingly well to describe what the average churchgoer is taught to expect from their God. I've heard dozens of stories at this point from people who spent years out of their lives living in terror that if the wrong thought accidentally popped into their head, they would doom themselves to an eternity of suffering. By the very God they would claim loves them. Even the act of making them think that's a possibility is cruel. But stating unequivocably that he intends to go through with it is several orders of magnitude worse. By every metric you can come up with, the God of the Bible manages to be more horrible and cause more harm than even the most morally bankrupt of humans. He is the most abusive husband, the most abusive parent, the most cruel king, the list goes on.

Do you agree with them just because billions say and make these claims ? Plenty of people also fall in love with narcissists. There are tons of these unfortunates in therapy trying to pick up the pieces after such a whirlwind relationship. So hearing that a narcissist is love or peace or whatever positive trait someone wants to project on them is no surprise. "Plus he loves his children equally" This is a claim. A claim without a single shred of verifiable evidence. It's simply part of the standard rhetoric from a particular religion.

I remember being forced/guilted into going to church by my grandma on my moms side. Sitting there and hearing how I was nothing but dirty rags and the lowest of the low was hard. And just how the preacher said it, and how people agreed....and then they said the only way to be worthy was to let Jesus into our hearts, and it meant letting him control our lives. I just couldn't do it, I tried, but even as a little kid, I had terrible anxiety, and I felt worse for not allowing him his way. So I just resigned myself to never actually being saved. It also made me put up with a lot of bullying at school because it just felt like reinforcement that I was a terrible person and deserved it. I still struggle with negative self talk but im trying to get past it and deconstruct as best I can.

Yes, this is one of the things that Christianity-- even the secular versions of it we encounter in our schools, laws, businesses, and social mores--programs us with: we're unworthy to be alive. Heck of a thing for a god to say, but then, Yahweh was originally a god of war, so maybe that's why we get this message of annihilation. (Yahweh was one of about 80 Canaanite gods. They allowed their gods to have a lot more qualities than constant warfare.)

Self esteem is hard to find once it's damaged. My situation was very different (autistic person surrounded by well meaning non-autistic people, rather than an abusive religion), but deconstructing my own negative self talk has led to a sort of defiant insistence on my own self worth. Others make demands without realising what obeying would cost most of the time. And if someone believes you're inherently worthless, they don't deserve your respect or any more attention than it takes to protect yourself from them.

It seems like the idea of someone reaping more than they sowed would make perfect, if unfortunate, sense if the world were not being guided into fairness. It does make sense in light of a God that gives more generously to the good than they give in turn, though then the good who reap nothing no matter how much they sow ceases to make any sense at all, and there are unpleasantly many who experience that firsthand in this life, even those who believe deeply. When a person has an addiction, it warps their self view and their view of everyone they are in relationships with -- because their relationship is actually with the addiction. An alcoholic can't have relationships with other people because their primary relationship is with alcohol. Same for drugs, sex, gambling -- and religion. When Christians are addicted to their version of God, Jesus, holy trinity, whatever -- that can be their only relationship. Everyone else is secondary. The religion doesn't give them love back -- just like the money, sex and alcohol. It's an empty relationship since it's not based in reality. It's very sad. Thank you for what you do. Let's assume you life in a kingdom. Your king is your king who in a way takes care of his kingdom, as your live in that kingdom of course the king 🤴 indirectly takes care of you too. But he's nevertheless the King and not your best friend. Do you have the right to personally talk to your King because he's your king? Can you stand at his gate and demand the king come down to talk to you? Expecting such a relationship from your King truly tells more about you then of the king. Doesn't it? If you then walk around town slandering the king because he didn't come to talk to you calling him abusive and the king nevertheless leaves you to do so that tells alot about both you and the king too.

@platzhirsch42752 ай бұрын
@@Kelley_X the analogy was held simple for you to understand. I could use another analogy, but first these two points: 1. God doesn't demand you worship him and praise him to go to "heaven". That's not the idea of what life on earth is about. You're life on earth is solemnly about YOU! God made you and gave you all your talents and gifts to use them however you please. He loves you to use those talents as you please and Rejoice in it. The praise to God comes when understanding that naturally to many, but unfortunately not to all- like you. You received your life and gifts and think therefore God owes you the right to be constantly there for you on a direkt personal level. You have a problem and pray and expect God to immediately interact with you and if he "doesn't" you turn your back and post slanderous videos full of abuse and belittlement and at the same time, despite your felt entitlement towards God, you call him abusive towards you. So let me tell you a story: There was once was a young couple that loved themselves dearly, war broke out and the husband had to go to war. The couple kissed and hugged at the train station and the woman vowed to love him forever. The husband went to war always carried the picture of his beloved bride in hid breast pocket, kissing it every day. The woman wrote many letters ✉️ to him, but couldn't call him of course. He got many letters from her and send many flowers to drop in front of her front door to show his love. One day after some years the husband got a leave on short notice and came home 🏡 . The woman had thrown all his belongings in the trash, thrown their marriage ring away, burnt their pictures, removed his name from the front door and was using social media to slander him badly what a wicked and abusive man he was. He found her with another man. On seing her husband she was shocked but accused him it was his fault that she did all that as he never answered any letters all those years. The husband looked at her in tears saying: those flowers 💐 in front of the door 3x week where from me, your favourite song I got your radio station to play every Saturday was from me, the coffee that was left every Sunday with your favourite marmalade and toast every Sunday morning was from me. Truly you are this woman and Christ shall likewise return. He loves you too. Think again weather your behavior is appropriate. ❤

Nah, you've got it wrong. They wouldn't say, "Ah well, that's too bad" They would be cheering for it, and might inspire others to join in. Remember, God in their eyes is the ultimate incarnation of good. He is righteousness and justice and goodness itself. So if he ever did indeed do that to a child, it would be seen as an ultimate act of good. Who cares what the child thinks, God is doing it, therefore, it is good. Honestly, with all the times God committed genocide and other such atrocities in the Bible, it's a wonder why most people who follow the Bible don't get in on the action nowadays.

First I want to say sorry that you had that experience. The thing is about Christianity just like any race, or group of people there a good and there are bad in it. Some Christian’s are so legalistic, pious and religious in their walk with Christ that they don’t know how to show compassion or understanding towards others who may not share their same beliefs. I’m a Christian and just want to let you know your questions are valid, even in the Bible people questioned God. Habbauk is such an underrated book in the Bible because he asked tough, unconventional questions that a lot of unbelievers asked yet some Christian’s are so pious and uneducated in scripture that they bash people for having those questions instead of trying to understand and show grace. I hope you can understand that all Christian’s aren’t judgmental and ignorant. Hope you don’t see us all that way. Aagin your questions are valid! God bless you!💖

"When a 'Relationship with God' Turns Unhealthy"--A relationship with god IS unhealthy. I know because I was there for 18 years. Kristi, regarding your comments beginning at 14:08 that you continually prayed to god for him to reveal to you what he wanted you to do, that was the final experience that broke me of christianity. Besides doing all the other things believers do, seemingly with no results whatsoever except confusion and emotional pain, I constantly prayed to god for years for him to tell me or reveal to me what he wanted me to do with my life for his glory, how I should serve him, how I should witness, what career he wanted me to pursue, and I prayed for the well-being of others. I NEVER prayed for any earthly or material thing for myself. I got nothing but silence--or, as you put it, crickets. Long after my de-conversion, a believer confronted me about my unbelief. I made the general statement to him that god never answered any of my prayers. Without enquiring of me in the least what I prayed for, he launched on a lengthy lecture about how I prayed for selfish, worldly things, and that if, instead, I would only pray for god's guidance as to how I should serve him, he WOULD answer my prayers!

All persons on earth who rejected Atheism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and all kinds of Religions as worthless and useless no value whatsoever and willingly submit instead to the authority of Jesus Christ in their obedience to what's written in Matthew 28: 18 are clearly the loving, kind, respectful, and submissive persons on earth who are worthy and deserving of the loving, kind, and merciful Creator's favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4. 2. The teachings of Jesus Christ about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" written in Luke 4: 43 and John 11: 25, 26 are the guarantee that all the loving, kind, respectful, and submissive persons on earth who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Ruth, Naomi, King David, Jesus Christ's Followers and disciples, and many others will all be RESURRECTED back to life in the right and proper time so they can happily and peacefully live and exist on earth forever as submissive and obedient subjects and citizens of the "KINGDOM of GOD" and fully enjoy the eternal love, kindness, goodness, compassions, generosities, favors, and blessings of the Creator and his Christ for eternity under the loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection of Jesus Christ as the Creator's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.

Every time I watch one of your videos, I learn more and more about how indoctrinated I once was! It is wonderfully liberating to dismantle the wonky and fragile (and frankly, non-sensical) beliefs I was taught from childhood as being the real, true, and authentic beliefs. Thank you for your own insights and for sharing your journey with us.
