I know a lot of rap/R&B guys use "Brauerizing" (sending elements to busses to emphasise width, transients, mono emphasis and space). Help Me Devvon even talks about it on his podcast (kzbin.infoCjoDTUX933E?si=OFGYJjcgPkP33EPV), and it's cool that Gomez mentions Michael Brauer as well.

I’ll be honest, it sounded better before the changes. I wanna know how the original tracks were created. Gomez says it was STL Tones?
@dillpereira250
@dillpereira250 Ай бұрын
It's just a matter of taste at the end of the day but I assume you dig into amp sims a lot and listen to a lot of bands that use it. I prefer real amps bc I'm a old ass dude and I'm used to that vintage sound and feel. I believe they used some kinda mesa boogie sim into STL Tones, but I can't guarantee.
@tobiasheinrich104
@tobiasheinrich104 Ай бұрын
The sound after the reamp was definitely far more organic. By "better" I suppose that you mean the additional high end of the sim-tone, but you can easily get that in a better form with amp+cab as well. In fact, the sim tone which we could hear here is really nothing special and very easy to get in a better form.
@PaulEubanks
@PaulEubanks Ай бұрын
@@dillpereira250 There’s a harshness in the re-amps that I don’t dig and I suspect it’s because of the old Mesa V30/SM57 combo, which sounds just awful to me. I hate that it’s used so much. Everything you run into that cab/mic will sound like this. I do like the outboard compressor stereo widening effect he has though. He should just run the originals through THAT chain and call it a day.

I was there filming, I’d say it was a “Gomez-ism”. He figured the gear sounded better that way, maybe something to do with the reamp box?
@PetarMakesNoise
@PetarMakesNoise Ай бұрын
@@adamsteelproducer just check from Kohle's channel, he shared that technique about reamping and getting double takes from one DI. It's actually pretty good, but from my experience works the best with real amps and not with sims. And getting mimique doubler pedal in between also helps a lot, you get even more "differences" so when reamped, it really does sound like there's two different takes. It's good if you have 2 takes, and you wanna add quad tracking without bothering your guitar player again to record.

I don't get how he gets the wide bus to be wider, I have tried watching that part a couple of times now - So he has a compressor on the bus and then he somehow uses the pan pots on the console to make them panned more than 100% L or 100% R? From what I found by googling Michael Brauer he does use a stereo widener on his bus to get the widening effect, so does Gomez do that or not?
@adamsteelproducer
@adamsteelproducer Ай бұрын
A width panner that can go beyond 100% wide is using mid/side to change the relationship between the center and the sides. You can do this with a lot of methods
