It's moments like these that makes me question if the law is even needed or if we're worth the space that we occupy, especially when throughout the US deaths like these happen simply because cops or any other vocation are killed simply doing their jobs. What's worse is that some of us praise these because of how we see law enforcement and immediately side with the criminals for hateful and bias reasons. Sure, there are corrupt officials in the office of law, but that doesn't mean we should drag the others down with them. I know there are bad people, but I also know there are good ones too. It baffles me on how these types of people deal with cops, and I'm even more scared of how they would deal with civilians if they weren't dealt with. I sometimes wonder how people grow up nowadays and question why these guys choose this course of action, even if the consequences were right in front of their faces. Despite how ultra rare these incidents are, I can't help but fear that I'll get assaulted or worse just because I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time and just wanted to mind my own business.

The Wieambilla shooting was huge here in Australia. I remember first hearing about it and I was shocked at the situation a routine call that police make everyday turned deadly. What's even more awful is that for the 2 other officers that survived they were out gunned. A standard issue glock isn't much when it's going up against high powered rifles and shotguns. Even with vests on in that situation your best choice is to try and get out of there by ducking and weaving. I've never understood why police stations who police huge farm land and bush land don't have high powered rifles in the 4wd, their back up is hours away.

I don't think there was any suggestion under the circumstances that the suspect was in possession of a firearm and later would try to kill a police officer. Stalker calls are fairly common and usually do not involve a person who is capable of killing another person, although still that person may be very dangerous to unarmed victims. During the course of the investigation, he could not have known that the suspect would have a firearm. He turned around and the suspect pulled the gun. I don't know why he was discharged. Usually these cases are settled with follow-up training on the examination and handling of the scene.

As an officer these videos make my blood boil but also sad because thing could have been avoidable or even didn’t have to run. With the proper training and equipment you can stand and fight for your men and women in blue. I’ve been shot 3 times but that’s part of the job.

my teacher in hs was a cop for 15 years and never had to pull her weapon/ it all depends on where you work and who you know
