This answered my question thx. My question was, if I put one coat of por15 rust and one coat of por15 top coat I'll be good. I see alot of guys swear you gotta put two coats of por15 rust on. But your website says one coat for metal. It does cover nicely with one coat. My original plan was to do 2 coats of por15 rust but after much research and consideration, and seeing that UV does break it down after time, I decided to go with 1 coat of por15 rust in black and one coat of por15 top coat in gray. Stuff is expensive and a lot of work and I don't want it peeling off down the road due to UV light. I like the finish gray color for the frame, I think it looks more modern and non-traditional. It will also add more ambient light under there and the contrast will be a plus. Going over the black with gray top coat also ensures a thorough job. It will look cool with the parts/components black against the gray too.

We usually tell people two thin coats of the POR-15 rust preventive to make sure you cover the surface properly. One coat sometimes doesn't cover the corner edges properly. That being said, yes you can get away with one coat of rust preventive and two or three coats of a UV safe top coat, but you run the risk of bleed through and pinhole failures.

How do I put a 2nd coat of por15 over top of a dried cured coat of por 15? And will it peel if I do so ?

If you missed the dry but still tacky widow for top coating, you need to scuff up the cured POR-15 rust preventing coating for a top coat to mechanically adhere. Maroon scuff pad works on freshly dried POR-15 rust preventive, but you might need 320-400 grit sandpaper if it has cured over a day or more.

Can the 2nd coat be done the next day?

You will need to gently scuff the surface with 320 grit paper or pads for anything to mechanically adhere

If I apply POR15 to let’s say, a driver door corner, can I scuff it up and use duplicolor over the por to match my paint color?

Yes you can apply a topcoat after it is cured by scuffing it up. It is best to apply the topcoat when the rust privative is dry but still tacky.

@@POR15videos by “top coat” you mean the same color as my vehicle, and NOT the POR15 topcoat product. Correct?
