Greetings. I have a bit rusty tank of an oldtimer car. The capacity is 12 Gallons and it has 3 baffles inside it. 1) is it possible to use the sealer on rusty tank? I won't be able to remove the rust mechanically since it's inside the tank. 2) Could you please recommend the required amount of degreaser, metal prep and tank sealer for this tank? 3) Do you have any distributors / retailers of POR15 in Europe? Having read so much about this paint, I thought I would try it. My test is challenging for any paint - rust-proofing the underside of a lawn mower deck. What I did: after removing any loose rust, I applied the recommended two stage preparation process then two coats of this paint and allowed several days to dry before running the mower. I ran the mower for one grass cutting session - about an hour of continuous use cutting two acres of grass, then inspected the painted surface. My conclusion: if the preparation steps are carefully followed the paint does seem to adhere well to rusty areas. However, it appeared to have a tendency to peel off as a sheet in areas that were not rusty. I know this paint is described as POR (paint over rust), but clearly in reality a useful paint needs to cover a range of surfaces, not just rusty ones. I’m afraid for this reason, combined with the ridiculously high price, especially if the preparation stages are used (and it seem to work much less well if they are not - I tried this also), I can’t give a more favourable assessment. One thing I do know though is that this stuff is very expensive - at now £55 for a US pint(!) of just the paint (not including the preparation). And for those in the UK, please note, this is not a British ("imperial") pint of 20 imperial fluid ounces (568 ml) but a significantly smaller American pint of only 16 US fluid ounces (473 ml).

I highly recommend you just remove the caliper, brake pads, and bracket, then suspend the caliper with a caliper hook. Clean and paint the brackets off of the car on a workbench. Clean and paint the caliper under the fender hanging on the hook, or pinch the brake hose and remove the caliper completely and paint it with the bracket. It will come out much better that way and you will have 100% coverage.

So I blasted my frame before winter time painted with por15 last yr and seemed to work okay. Now I'm curious about using the RED por15 spray paint directly onto my front skid plate...do I need to prep the surface with a very light sand or do I just apply directly after cleaning it off?

Can i use a satin clear coat at the end? If so, do you recommend one?

Can i spray this on my undercarriage and then power wash it off? Will it remove surface rust as a spray on?

Pretty pretty hard to put that on a truck frame if you got it, submergent in it or any part that you normally use, you’re not gonna be able to submerge it in enough of that to make it work

Does POR15 rust preventative function as intended when applied in a hot 100 degree weather?

I'm going to be buying a new 2024 4Runner, can I paint POR-15 on the frame and all under the SUV? If I paint over bolts, can they be removed, it looks like this stuff hardens like cement. After it dries, can you spray other undercoating over top the POR-15. Like fluid film.

I love when people paint crappy brakes a bright color… nothing says “hey look at me, my brakes suck” more than painted slide calipers.

There is no videos out there explaining that PO or 15. Ross preventative is not the topcoat. There is no videos explaining after putting POR 15 rust preventative that you must paint over that with topcoat because of the UV rays it will fail if not everybody’s thinking they calling POR 15 rust preventative the paint, that’s actually white pretty much a primer needs a topcoat so it won’t fail. There is not one video out there explaining that.

We've always put a big sheet metal screw in the top of the can towards the edge. We never take the lid off.Then we poured out into disposable cup and we dip paintbrush in the cup. It's pretty handy if you want to use a wider brush that wouldn't fit into the can. Or you have a little bit of touch up to do and you can use a smaller brush. As soon as you take the screw out and pour what you need then put the screw in their hand tight. Also we always bought the little cans that comes in a 6 pack. POR 15 doesn't have a long shelf life once you have opened it regardless of the mode you use.

Hi, Have you had luck with POR-15 sticking to paint on metal? I have a steel trailer that is painted black and is rusting badly. Would I need to remove the paint for the POR to work? Thanks!

Does baked on brake dust, reduce effectiveness/life of POR-15 rust remover? Will it remove bake on brake dust? I've been using one most "well know" reusable rust removes. Which claims, 1 gallon removes a pound of rust. I've found, it even removes baked on brake dust. Great right, No! As baked on brake dust, kills the effectiveness of the rust remove. Just 5 brake rotor bolts, with only the heads of bolt covered with brake on brake dust. Killing 1/2 pint of de-rusting solution in one 24 hour soaking at 68F or greater. This is after degreasing bolts, in a ultrasonic cleaner. How does POR-15 rust remove stand up to brake dust. As side note: It's my understanding brake dust is made up of mostly iron particles.
