@averytriggeredteddy10108 ай бұрын
@@OgramRavot21 Well yeah I feel bad for him too, but I don't think your statement that they were going to arrest him as soon as they saw that he was black and homeless is accurate. The first cop who came up to him was black too. Also, once Eddie finally spoke with her and the other cops enough for them to believe that he understood the situation and wouldn't make the same mistake again, they did let him go, so clearly those cops in particular didn't have any bias against him. However, your statement may be true for the other white cops who came to arrest Eddie later on in the day. If the first group of officers had notified the others over radio that they no longer needed to arrest Eddie after they let him go, then obviously the officers who still chose to arrest him later on were completely in the wrong. I would think that all of the units dispatched to take care of a certain crime would be notified immediately upon its conclusion, so I am not really sure whether the latter half of the arrest was the result of a miscommunication or genuine racism. I'm no expert though.

@initiald9752 ай бұрын
Well he could have just complied and made the process easier, he might have been harassed but no one would feel threatened, as well as he wouldn’t have been arrested. However, walking away from a cop who’s on duty asking questions is sort of illegal, but that was only the basis of the issue, not including the actions which suggested he wanted to fight. He was walking away while making motions and telling the police officers to “fight me nigga” scares the police officers for their safety so he pulls out his taser, which is the correct thing to do. Since he further tried to resist officers and act the way he did, erratically, after this through physical actions, it was reason enough to arrest him. Homeless or not, if you aggressively go to me in an aggressive manner like that in person, anywhere, anytime, and say to me “fight me nigga”, I will not hesitate to call the cops because “fight me nigga” usually is a declaration that you will actively start a physical fight in some way, especially if you start squaring up, and if it’s clearly not a joke just by the facial expressions alone. This is not how you act; if you are unhappy with something you tell it to their face and just be done with it. End of story.
