This is one of the first ballet vs hip hop videos I've seen that has melded both together equally. Usually ballet is the one adjusting to become more 'hip hop' as if ballet is the one that needs to change. This one has both types of music, both types of dance, and neither one become the other. Neither one is worse, nor better, and both are presented as equally beautiful. I love it!

Nefertari Lol just because YOU love ballet doesn‘t mean it is better! And come on don‘t kid yourself ballet is not really that popular anymore. It‘s like people trying to compare different martial arts and picking which oennoe what style is the best while really it all depends on the individual practicing an art form. In short: get off your high horse
@erynryba55094 жыл бұрын
@@balletshoes I am a ballerina as well and I do agree with you in the sense that it takes so much to truly become a ballerina. I've been a dancer for 20+ years and I'm still learning. There is so much that goes into it from the training to the technique, etc.. it absolutely requires a life time of hard work and dedication. I do not agree however that ANY other form of dance is not equal. The reason we dance is for the freedom. We get lost in it. It's an experience that only a dancer can understand. I think that's what connects us all and in that sense there is no better or worse way to dance. What makes a real dancer to me is the look on their face of pure joy. Everything about dance is beautiful. Regardless of the style

When they take off the clothes and particularly the shoes, it's like stripping each other of the identifying features of each genre of dance and identifying what they do as just dance, the art of body movement. It's actually quite a powerful message if applied to other areas of life that find themselves in conflict.
@devanbittinger95244 жыл бұрын
Amen! Taking the clothes down to "skin" shows how they're both talented dancers doing what they love in different ways yet they're the same. Beautiful imagery and gorgeous dancing from both of them.

I think dance is a form of art, you can’t discriminate art because it is what the creator and the audience sees. To someone it may be this, to another it may be that. There is no right or wrong in art, just expression of oneself. And that is what makes dancing such a beautiful art, a practice, a skill
@cnacma5 жыл бұрын
there are many crusty pretentious people in the upper echelons who will definitely tell you there is a "right and wrong" in art. they've made a handsome career out of shitting on people's hard work and emotion.

I think the message in this dance is very clear and beautiful. It demonstrates how 2 different kinds of dancers unravel each of their differences (clothes) while trying to dance on the same rhythm. It shows how we could appreciate any form of art if we wouldn't judge, and accept the differences, appreciating people above every stigma and stereotypes. Also realize how the dancers focus on each other's dance moves, while still keeping their original dance styles. It tells us that we could enjoy other's different ways of expressing art while still being our unique self.
@shalinipatel79855 жыл бұрын
I was waiting for the switch to happen in either... One becoming the other... But they never changed their styles... They did similar steps but in their own styles which also shows us how similar two completely different dance forms could be..that's the beauty... And I loved how it never mingled fully with each other keeping their individuality, uniqueness alive and yet perfectly in sync...😍😍❤️❤️❤️

This made me cry. Its the only Ballet/Hip Hop video ive seen thats actually moved me. Its beautuful and to me them taking off their clothes represents to me them sheding the label of Ballet or HipHop and just melding them together. Neither one changed into the other they just came together to do a new style. I think it also shows no matter what sex, race, colour you are or language you speak people can overcome differences and learn to work together and we are all the same. We are all human beings.
@Andalucia902014 жыл бұрын
About how two opposites complement each other beautifully and it is precisely the diversity that creates harmony. And at the same time it’s a “danced dissonance”. And it beautifully depicts the appeal or attraction.

Lol...or just the odd one out who's enamored with and fascinated by the beauty of the human body and what it can do! It was a pleasure just to see them move. There are all the motor neurons that fire at just the right moment to produce that movement, whether it's subtle, controlled movement (like fine motor control in popping or locking) or a sweeping grand jete. And the hours upon hours of practice- of moving your body and becoming deeply familiar with your body and where it is in space...that's what produces the glorious fluidity of movement. It's remarkable, truly! I'm not particularly skilled in performing art. Most kinds really- my violin playing is traumatizing. My guitar playing, I'm told, is very educational- the girl I sat next to in a class I took learned how to tune me out to hear the teacher. My drawing is poor. And when I dance? It's mostly in the car and at home - where no innocent bystanders are forced to witness my excellence in coordinating motion between my upper and lower extremities in the same rhythm. That does not mean that understanding the beauty in human movement is exclusive to dancers, however. :P And yes, it is a beautiful and profound work.
