I started school at 30. I like this video for discussion. I’m so happy I started later. The number one thing GO TO IN STATE! If you don’t make it the first year into an in state school, wait a year. Work a part time job. I work an average of 10-12 hours a week, overall that will be around 10k-20k over three years. That is around a year of tuition. You have to be smart about your money.

You are super smart for considering financial obligations when it comes to PT school. Sounds like you were thinking ahead and setting yourself up for financial success! Starting PT school around 30 years old is still a great time to start! I think it gives you a good amount of years to work in the workplace and gain experience. This way you can decide what you really want to do for the rest of your life and it will help drive a lot of passion into what you do. Happy for you Mike for loving this life journey!

Extremely helpful. Here I am, 32 years old, about to start the base schooling to go down this career path and wasn't sure if I was starting too late. But all of your input was amazing

I’m looking into this career path.. I’m fortunate to have served in the US Navy & now they’re paying my entire career path. I’d have 0 debt!

I disagree a person graduating at 40 can still work for 25 years until retirement and make a lot of money to pay of debt. The way I see it if I enjoy the job I don't mind a little debt.
@drjustinleedpt2 жыл бұрын
But that means you have missed out on over 10 years of PT salary and a chance to pay off your loans. That means you’re paying of loans into your 60s… this is a general students life of course. If you’re smart about your finances you can pay it off in less than 10 years. But the research shows that students take 20-25 years to pay of PT loans. And I’m sure it’s even worse and longer now

hey Justin, i love your videos and appreciate you giving advice and wisdom to help those get into PT school.... i would love for you to help me when its my time to apply to PT school. to be honest when you said 35 is the cut off, it was a bit discouraging because i value your advice and when i apply to PT school ill be 36. i feel i was put on this planet to be a PT, i am passionate about it. i often think about when its all said and done, ill be 40 and the debt and how long ill have to pay it off scares me but i do want to be PT with all my heart.

Go do It Brodie. Figure out a plan to pay it off. You’re only 36 lol in 3 years you’ll be 39. You work for 20 years you’re 60 lol bro you’re good.

35 being to late, so going on 27, is okay? Because I keep using my age as an excuse to not do it. I hate I didn't do it earlier smh.

Thanks this was helpful! Do you have a video detailing the physical requirements of being a PT by chance? E.g Explaining what the common injuries are that PTs get on the job ? How hard is it on your hands when performing manipulations? Do you often have to help patients stand up? Do you feel it’s hard going to exercise after a day working as a PT? I really like being active and on my feet but my upper body and hands are not that strong, so unsure if PT is for me or not :)

I started my MS in Exercise Science degree in Fall 2021, and I’m your age. But my overall goal is to get into PT school. Do you suggest I drop out of this program and apply to PT school? Or do you think this degree and experience will help me once I’m in PT school? Awesome video btw, just what I was thinking about 3 days ago. Am I too old? Lol. Thanks Dr. LiftforChange.

Hi! I started pt school at a later age, feel free to reach out with questions
@drjustinleedpt2 жыл бұрын
What’s up Mic! As of now, since you’re already half way through your program I think you should stick it out. Having a masters for sure helps you stand out amongst the other applicants. It would also be strategic to have your masters degree if your GPA was not that great for undergraduate. I don’t think you’re too old. You likely will have to take a couple of extra prerequisite classes tho and apply by 32-33 years old. That’s good timing! I’m sure you will have TONS of experience to bring to the table too. 👍 Proud if you for going the distance my friend!

can you make a video of what you need to do to get a pta or pt job in the US as a foreigner
@kuangxiong89632 жыл бұрын
If you are in the US you can apply to PT schools. There are plenty of them accepting international students. I got accepted by a PT program in the USas a foreigner. Just go ahead and check out the schools websites. Also pay attention to the re-reqs requirements as some school may require the re-reqs to be taken at a US or Canadian college.
@heatblaste96252 жыл бұрын
@@kuangxiong8963 i mean if you already have a degree as a pta or pt from a foreign country if you can get a job in the Usa without going to pt school in usa again
