Cappy, it wasn't the Ottoman empire(that rose in the 1300s). It was an influx of Turkic barbarians from central Asia who started serving the armies of the caliphs and later rose to power themselves, establishing Turkic dynasties arcross the Islamic world, such as the Ghaznavids in Iran and much later, the Seljuks in both Iran and what is now eastern and central Turkey. The Ottomans were founded by Osman, one of the many emirs that descended from the Seljuks. The Turks were to the Arabs what the Germans were to the Romans, basically.

The Abbassid Caliphate (the one centered around Baghdad) was overrun by the Mongols in the 1250s AD. The Mamluks (first assembled in the 9th century AD) were originally a security force formed by the Abbassids composed of non-Arabs, but eventually the Mamluks became an entity in their own right. The Ottomans did not come into the picture until well after the time of the Mongols. After the Mongols sacked Baghdad in 1258 AD, the various parts of the caliphate that weren't conquered by the Mongols (the division of the Mongols in the Middle East became the Ilkhanate, which converted to Islam and eventually gave rise to the empire of Tamerlane/the Timurids from whom the Moghuls of northern India/south central Asia claim descent) were fragmented. The Mamluks set up their sultanate in Egypt, which lasted until the early 16th century. The Turkic tribes, some of whom preceded the Mongols by a few centuries and others who moved with the Mongol sweep westward from central Asia, established dynasties in eastern Turkey before the Mongols and in Iran/the Caucasus after the Mongols.

At some point, Arabs were a horde of aggressive nomads who conquered the soft, urbanized Romans and Persians. Then they settled down and became soft themselves. Then the Turks came, a horde of aggressive nomads, but then they in turn were Islamized, became urbanized and soft. Then *they* were steam-rolled by Mongols and Timurids, both a horde of aggressive nomads.

Extremely reductive and dishonest. The initial Arab conquest were the results of latter, Romans and Persia, not only been extremely tired from a prolonged war, but also having never seen anything like the Arab armies. Much like influenza ripping through the American Indians, they got destroyed before they could figure out a defense against this new threat. To call the Arabs nomads was not necessarily true as they had a huge number of cities, and distinct difference between the desert nomads called the Bedouins, and the urban Arabs. Romans at the time are definitely not soft, actually being at a point where they had been on a reconquering spree and retaking most of the former Western lands. They still were going to last another 800 years. The trips came exactly at the wrong time, striking out a change between caliphate and right around the same time the Crusaders showed up. Nobody was ready for the Mongols. Ghenghis and Subudei were two of the greatest military leaders of all time, and absolutely nobody knew they were coming. The Mongol army came with speed almost greater than news could travel, so there just wasn’t time to properly ready troops and defenses. I am once again it was a different way of warfare that defenses hadn’t yet been figured out against. This whole presentation is complete hogwash.
@juniorjames7076Ай бұрын
@Mortablunt Truth is more mundane. Pagan and Christian Arabs were the mercenaries of both the Byzantines and Persians. So they knew the inside/outs of both kingdoms and when it came time to revolt against both they knew what to do. Invasion does not happen without extensive reconnaissance and spying. Mongols were trading and collecting info on Baghdad region for years prior.

O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. 16 ¶ Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: 17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. 18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, 19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, 20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, 21 The rings, and nose jewels, 22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, 23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails. 24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. 25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war. 26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

That seems to be the common thread throughout history Aaron both before and after the origin of that faith. It seems that almost every great civilization in history that embraced Gynocentric idolatry met an early demise and collapsed into ruins and dust. There always seems to be a female occult culture that precedes the downfall of each of these civilizations. The goddess Ishtar also known as the "Queen of Heaven" became a dominant influence in female occult groups in the Babylonian and Assyrian Empires. Isis, an ancient Egyptian goddess whos' reputed power was greater than all others in that pantheon served in the same way. Greek civilization this was personified in the goddess Aphrodite. The Romans, it was Venus. Much to my surprise most of the early influencers from the 19th and 20th century in the Feminist movement in Europe and the USA were involved in occult practices!(Occult Feminism: by Rachel Wilson.)

10:44 - The problem with living in prosperous times is that any empire really needs to be armed with the right information about the basic facts of what it is to be human. Supernaturalized worldviews gave us this impression that if we all have 'souls' the interiority of men and women would be fungible aside from their framed biological realities. The problem - that doesn't take into account that the framed biological realities are far more powerful than the 'soul', and if one doesn't know that it sounds perfectly reasonable that women should be full equals in every way, and it's never considered whether they're mostly incapable of it because their best self-serving strategies bring men low which then leads to their conquest. To mirror what Cappy said, I am not a historian, I am not a mythicist, I have not looked into this deeply. But I feel like I've read or maybe heard an ancient Native American creation myth where a large portion of it was how women got pissed off because they didn't have everything they wanted so they kicked men out of the village. After a few years of absolute misery and starvation, they eventually invited the men back. The myth took good care to note that the men weren't happy either, but instead of starving to death they were like "we don't have nice furs and clothes anymore." This feminism crap is not new. Ancient societies knew all about it. Women complain about stuff, men give women everything they want, society collapses, and those who survive have to start over.
