One thing I love about Karl is that he talks to EVERYONE in exactly the same way. That is a very rare quality....and admirable in a lot of ways, I think.

+Kieran T He doesn't talk shit he just doesn't put on an act he's not afraid to be himself and doesn't put anyone on a pedestal because of who they are. If he met the Queen he'd be the same.

+Kieran T OK well I'm not the one that resorted to name calling so no I'm not the troll here. I originally just gave my opinion without being rude or anything. Karl looks at things differently than most people and Ricky finds it hilarious so he takes the piss. But I don't think he talks shit to people as in treating them disrespectfully which your original post made it sound like you were saying. But maybe you just meant that he talks rubbish in general.

Sadly they stopped doing the radio show a few years back. This recording is from the old Ricky Gervais Show, originally aired in 2001/2002 or thereabouts (sorry, don't have the exact date to hand) on Xfm, which paved the way for the podcasts which they started doing afterwards. If you look you can find many of the episodes in their entirety here on youtube :)

Science is a matter of universal truth, while spirituality is a matter of personal truth. I don't think one blocks or limits the other. I don't know which is more important. The problem is when people confuse and mix up one with the other. I've only heard one of Alan Watts' speeches. "What if money were no object" and yes, it is beautiful. Self discovery is important to me, being young and all. My recommendation to you is George Carlin. Maybe not as poetic but his words resonate with me.

The only reason we treat these ideas as plausible is because they are. We have a chance of proving them correct or incorrect. If we take a look at some big ideas of most religions, we see that they try to answer pretty much the same questions: "How did we begin, and what happens when we end?" Science has answered both of these questions, but religion still adds that element of paranormal. Science says when you die, your conscious mind stops, it simply stops existing. Religion says it moves.

The double slit experiment has been explained. If you did any amount of research further than a youtube video, you would know that it's a phenomena of quantum physics. Heisenberg's uncertainty principle is the cause. An observer collapses the electrons from a superposition (the kind the analogy of Schrodinger's cat tries to explain) to one single state. Anyway, I'm no expert in all things Quantum. I'm a mere 16 year old British boy who loves the science of the world around him.

Derren just subtly mentions numbers, words and names through their conversation then looks for subliminal micro reactions from Karl or any of the people hes doing this trick with.He is very trained to notice these reactions in people . Hes in reality reading their emotions rather than reading their minds

Yes, technically ofc "mind reading" is quite impossible so we can rule the "transfer" out... but then again if your face is transmitting the "data" of your mind you would call it mind reading... and normal people does this everyday... we (and even monkeys :-) can actually "read minds" its just that Derren is a lot better at it then most and he have a lot more experience with it as he actually need to be right because it is sort of his job. So any way... I think suggestion is the big part and the reading someones face to get clues of what he/she is thinking is the smaller part. If you combine that with the slight of hand, normal "magic tricks" and a brilliant mind it will be spelled Derren Brown.

@@aleripp6505 Yeah, either that or he uses what's called a "nomad pad"--looks like a regular sketch pad, but actually transmits a copy of whatever you write to the sheet below it, much like carbon paper.

You ARE right in thinking there is something odd about the whole thing. Why does an observer cause this change? Is the electron conscious? Well, no, but this whole debate consciousness / other factors is still ongoing and by no means definite. You speak of science like it is bollocks, yet in your last comment you use the phrase "latest scientific research" implying it to be fact. These ideas you mentioned are spiritual hypothesis being investigated scientifically, not quite religion.
